How Josh Anderson wasn't benched after that first period in Florida I will never understand. There was the play the panel discussed where he just checked out completely and allowed a goal, but he also turned the puck over lazily at the blue line, which led to a good chance and the "tripping" penalty by David Savard. And there were some other bad or indifferent plays. Now, in fairness, he turned it around in the 2nd and 3rd and actually looked pretty good. But St.-Louis must have the patience of Gob because if I was coaching I would have reemed Anderson out and he would have been stapled to the bench for the next period at least. There are a lot of reasons to love watching this team right now. But what I'm especially enjoying is the combination of Slafkovsky's rapid development and Armia's resurgence (and even growth I would say). With those two playing so well and using their size and strength so effectively in the corners, suddenly our top two lines are a nightmare for opposing defensemen to play against. Imagine spending your shift contending with 235 pound Juraj Slafkovsky manhandling you in the corner and then he goes off and 215 lb Armia comes over the boards? Suddenly, we aren't fun to play against and that's awesome to watch.

I care... that we have a core of young defensemen that may not all stay with the team but are clearly NHL players and thus assets. I care that they have two young goalies that have stepped up to play against NHL talent and play well. I like that we have a goalie in Laval that will be pushing for a spot on the Habs. Not to mention, the two goalies that they drafted who are making heads turn in Europe and North America. The Habs will get to the next step sooner than later. Sniper, table for one! Your table is waiting.

Slaf is only 20 and is going to become a little bit bigger and far stronger in next couple years. Skill and confidence will go along with it as he wins more puck battles and makes more space using his size. He is a beast. Made in jurassic park experiment. A T-Rex with longer arms. The Slovakian Salfosaurus Rex. He will eat the competition alive

It makes sense to bring him back if you're intention is to deal him in the off-season and potential buyers have already expressed a need to see him post-injury.

Glad I’m not the only one that has said this, But I was saying it when we drafted him… With his size, Skill, IQ and taking into context that he was played on a 3rd or 4th line with TPS Turku in a league that is already a low scoring league, you would soon realize looking at all of that this kid had the potential to be better than 90% of the fan base was giving him credit for…. The Habs watched him and knew exactly what he could be and just to be safe and lower the expectations the Habs said “We will really see Juraj grow into the player we believe he can be in 4-5 years”… Deep down the Habs Scouts and management knew he could be this good this early… They were lowering expectations to protect Juraj because the fan base was definitely going to lose their minds if this kid had a bad 18 year old season 😂 which he did but he was 18 lmao now all the Habs fans are in love with Juraj…. It bothers me that fans yell “BUST”, “WORST FIRST OVERALL EVER” etc but now are saying he’s amazing… I definitely agree and next season I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets 60+ points… Habs fans keep crying about not having a “Superstar”… Well here he is lmao is right in front of all their faces… Juraj will be a superstar in 3-4 years, I definitely agree we still need another Top 6 player BUT this team is not dying for superstar talent we have it lmao it’s developing in front of us each game… Suzuki in my opinion has 80+ point potential with his goal scoring ability improving, Juraj will be an 80+ point player and Caufield could possibly be a point per game player as well if he gets back to his goal scoring ways while adding the playmaking he’s worked on this season…. This team has a bright future and what’s even better is we have a LOADED defence! Defence wins championships we made it to a cup final with a great defence and a goalie, This team will have way better offence than the 2021 team we had and will have a better defence, We won’t have as good of a goalie but Fowler is going to be a star goalie and that’s good enough, Price was borderline generational and we won’t have that for a long time…. This team is set in my opinion with a few trades and FA signings we could be a playoff team soon.

Just a quick FYI. Habs have been involved in 23 one goal games this year where they have lost. 11 of those were in OT or SO Leaving 12 games lost by one goal during regulation. Winning just half of those games would have netted 12 more points in regulation and 5.5 points in OT/SO giving them 17.5 points more than they have now, which is 70, for a total of 87.5pts Islanders hold down the 2nd wildcard spot in the east with 83 points, Habs with a game in hand on them. As far as Anderson/Gallagher. I don't think Anderson will be there next year. I know Hughes likes to keep a retention slot open for the trade deadline to possibly be a facilitator in a trade to get cap hits down for other teams, in return getting a draft pick out of it. But I think if you can retain 50% of his salary, and package him with one of the young D and maybe a draft pick, then you get rid of him. Where is he going to play on the team once they are all healthy? Dach comes back, Newhook likely slides to his wing, with Roy on the other side. Or Hughes also gets rid of Dvorak and Newhook slides to the 3C position, with Gallagher and Armia on his wings. Going to pay Anderson $5.5mil in a 4th line winger roll? A lot is going to depend on what happens at the draft and over the summer, but I don't see Anderson on the team next season. Gallagher, I have no issues with. Likely the same line mates as he has right now, just as the third line as opposed to the 2nd line now. Evans, I think he will still need to prove that he belongs, even at a 4C role to get a contract past next season. Beck is coming. He will likely do a season in Laval, but sooner or later Beck is coming and is going to make Evans redundant.

The players are true athletes . They play to win, play for the team, their coach, and to improve their personal records, (well, most of them anyway). The season is ending shortly and they're giving everything they have to finish strong. As Rick said "a lot to be said bout their character" . Never been a fan of Jake Evans, but it seems he got a lot more physical and aggressive the last part of this season . He's at his best right now. 👏

Keep Armia and Evans and Pezetta. Anderson and Dvorak I would think about letting go. Gally can stay as long as he wants.he has chemistry with Armia and Newhook. Few players coming up so competing for spots is going to happen next season.

Habs have been performing well in the last 15 games of the year for over a decade, when there is no incentive for the good teams and the season is over for bad teams the Habs perform well. When nothing is on the line they perform well. Canadiens won’t be making the playoffs anytime soon. Signing a superstar still in his prime has never been done by the Habs and until they do so they will never be a contender. Every team laughs at what Montreal have become, trying to make the playoffs is the lowest standard a team can have, they will never be a Stanley cup contender for a few years, they don’t have the skill set

@@RahRan123 We are better than San Jose, Chicago, Arizona, Anaheim, Columbus lol and I would even argue we are better than Philly… Philly has had a lot of things go right for them and they are not as good as they have played this season… Habs have a great future and if this management really wants to turn it around they can because we have everything you need to start pushing for playoffs… Good solid defence, Number 1 C and a Number 2 C if Dach can stay healthy, Slaf developing into a superstar, Caufield is becoming a better all around player, Newhook is having a career year when it comes to his Points Per Game… All we need is depth scoring, Our defence is good enough as it is and it will get better and better and Hutson, Mailloux and Reinbacher start to come up, We have solid goaltending, We just need depth scoring and I’m not saying next season we are a cup contender, But pushing for playoffs and taking that next step can happen next season for sure, It’s still gonna take 3-4 years to contend for a cup, But playoffs are very close in my opinion…
