We visited #Canberra for four jam-packed days of sightseeing and experiences.
💰 Royal Australian Mint
This experience was perfect for the kids and we learnt a fair bit too. There was a great educational booklet for the kids to complete whilst walking around and reading about the history of the Australian currency.
🏞️ Lake Burley Griffin
We cruised around Lake Burley Griffen, having a picnic with Black Mountain in the foreground.
🇦🇺 Australian War Memorial and Vietnam Veterans Memorial
We spent the day in the War Memorial reading all the history and war stories. It was eye opening for the kids, I’m sure they learnt a lot and it’s a beautiful curated memorial.
🤾🏼 Australian Institute of Sport
The boys spent the arvo at the AIS. Archie got an insight into the training facilities and practices with a guided tour. It was an extremely interactive tour with his favourite thing being the Sportex.
🌲 National Aboretum
While the boys toured the AIS, the girls looked around the National Aboretum, taking in the wide range of trees and breathtaking views. There was an amazing playground, cafe and bonsai displays. When we were there, they were setting up for a big event - turned out it was the Australian of the Year event.
🔬Questacon
Never fails to disappoint, the kids had a ball at Questacon. So many interesting shows and interactive displays.
👨⚖️Parliament House
This was a key educational stop, showing the kids through history of democracy. The kids got to see the green house and the red house. The architecture is amazing and I thought all the portraits were a great way to talk through some key figures in history.
We also visited some lookouts and caught up on some life admin. It was a really busy 4 days and could have spent longer.
