Hard times create strong people, strong people create easy times, easy times create weak people, and weak people create hard times. The fact that the swedes, an orginally poor and marginal country, managed to keep their country out of ANY war for now 210 years (their last war was in 1814, the war of the sixth anti-french coalition, against Napoleon, and it was not even fought on their soil) is quite astonishing. They didn't involve in any war related to continental Europe after 1814, they didn't colonize anyone, they remained neutral in BOTH world wars, the cold war, and any NATO-related war. And they made their country successful, still a rather poor country in the 1930's by west european standards, to one of the most prosperous and successful countries in the world as early as the 1960's. They took advantage of their iron mines and their wood industry, but they were able to save money, to diversify their economy, and to not let it concentrate in the hands of a childish oligarchy. But, such a long era of peace, quite unique in the history of the world, although undoubtly very good in itself, would have consequences : it made swedish people incredibly naive and angelic. Although it was quite widespread in the West in the 1990's, it was really extreme in Sweden, and unlike other countries, it didn't die out in the 2000's and the 2010's. And in a world that since the late 2000's, became increasingly violent and unstable, it was not possible, for a country that was such a sweet paradise, but at the same time a paradise of naive people, to remain untouchable. I don't see it happening in Poland, at least not in such proportions, and definitely not now : Poland is not "rich" enough yet (i'm aware we're no longer in the 1990's, but current day Poland is still not at the level of softening prosperity Sweden was at in the late 1990's). And poles have known far too much of violent history in the last centuries, to become as naive as the swedes were.

Maar wat had men dan verwacht van: te weinig babies maken in ruil voor individuele vrijheid? al jaren ouder worden maar toch pensioen op 65? voeren van oorlogen buiten de landsgrenzen? Alsof het allemaal zo floep op de één of andere dag is gebeurd. Zonder het één en ander in ogenschouw te nemen. Maar misschien is het allemaal zo simpel als dik worden. Het zijn louter de calorieën die je inneemt, daar hoef je enkel op te letten. En misschien is is het één niet direct gerelateerd aan het ander. En is het allemaal domme pech.

Sweden is a beautiful Country, i call it God's garden. The Swedes are beautiful people, tall and strong. A fine example of the best White, Christian European stock. One thing that i noticed was that the men although physically impressive are a bit docile.
