I don’t know, I don’t really think that a movie or especially a TV show of The Haunted Mansion would really work. As you said in the video the story has been retconned and rebooted and events would flip flop in the timeline, and that’s the problem The Haunted Mansion itself isn’t supposed to have a story. Really think about it did you fall in love with The Haunted Mansion because of the lore and how one person in it might have something to do with someone else or is it because of the ambiance, the gags, the perfect mixture of silly and scary that really puts the fun in funeral! The Disney XD show that has the most likely chance of coming out has probably the uninspired premise out of the projects talked about in this video it really reminds me if Obituary-A grave beginning and personally I can’t see a story like that working in a Haunted Mansion setting. Besides some main contenders like Constance, the host ghost, Master Grascey, Madam Leota, and I guess the hitch hiking ghosts none the the ghosts really have a personality and don’t need one either. They were created as gags made directly with the ride in mind and they work perfectly that way, even still, characters like Constance has had many interpretations and versions who are all considered different people and to try making sense of them all existing at once is just a hopeless endeavor or take the hitch hiking ghosts who are implied to not even be apart of the Mansion. I have a huge love for The Haunted Mansion and would really really like to see a movie version of it one day, I had big hopes more the Guillermo del Toro film and its extremely sad that it was never made, if there was going to be another Haunted Mansion movie Barry Sonnenfeild would be the absolute perfect director for it (He made the Addams Family and A Series of Unfortunate Events) I loved this video catching me up on all of these failed projects and I really hope something like this could actually be pulled off well

What you want is a balance like they pulled off with the 1985 Ghost busters, mixing funny, spooky, dark and slightly scary in just the perfect blend. The only thing modern I've seen would be season one of stranger things. That goes more to scary, and gb leans just slightly to funny. But if you could get that mix correct, you have a shot at it . Also the plot might have to go into love actually/love boat / fantasy island territory in terms of having multiple interweaving plots . But here is where you avoid Eddie Murphy: all of the plots are internal to the ride. Framing characters like Eddie's character don't get major plots of their own, they are there only to help tie together the stories in the mansion.

In my opinion, I honestly think a darker take with more emphasis on the horror (while still including some of the goofier or more comedic elements) would be best.
