My step son is high functioning autistic with down syndrome and he LOVES this channel and especially this series! He's usually non-communicative but as soon as he sees a new Bright Sun video he becomes very verbal! He loves telling his family and anyone who will listen about the content of these videos. :) He remembers each detail of every project, store and theme parks in these videos. It's extraordinary! I've never seen him happier in his life. He even draws his own plans and schematics for parks and other places inspired by this series. Thank you so much Bright Sun Films. You've made him so happy!

As a person who has been living in Long Beach her whole life, it's interesting to learn about what could've been in the city. I've heard about this development before. Such a huge missed opportunity, but I get why it was cancelled 😭 Traffic is already terrible around here, I can't imagine how much worse it could be. Then again, we'll never know 🤷. I like how the city is as it is... but imagine it though,,,a Disney park just a bus ride away??? 🤤 Such an interesting video! You have a new subscriber :)

Judging by the project maps, Port Disney probably would have spelled the end of the GP (at least in its traditional location in the city), as the three northern hotels would have been either inside or right next to the circuit.

One key issue not mentioned here.... It was stipulated that a certain percentage of employees had to be residents of Long Beach. There was a big concern that The Mouse was going to be forced to hire people who clearly did not meet the Disney employment standards.

We asked a guy when we got there where the plane was, it had just been moved.

Once more you educate and entertain at the same time. Love the painstaking research you do for each video, when you interview people that were involved with the projects you cover and include them, it makes the videos even better. Being a research nerd myself it shows you really do enjoy the topic you are covering. Couple that with your documentary narrator quality voice, and you have a video that is fun to watch and we end up learning something too. As Bill Cosby used to say on Fat Albert, when you watch a Jake Williams video, If you are not careful, you may learn something before it's done. I learn something in every video. Keep up the great work Jake. Randall Watson Aurora, Missouri

Seems like you haven't been to downtown Long Beach in awhile a lot of this space has been developed and the rest of the space next to the Queen Mary is currently in the planning phase for a 250million development along with 10 plus developments/high rise going into downtown LB currently,far from a dump if all these developers want in on downtown lb
@Lmarcanov19784 жыл бұрын
@@andresreyes5398 he's referring to Queens way and the container areas that surround Queen Mary and the Carnival port, besides a little marina and hotel, there is nothing new on that side....it's all 60s and 70s!!! There is a moderate project in the works by the current QM operator that might bring some new flavor to that area and make it more attractive.

The long Beach site has not been developed as of now and looks very bare and ugly. It is a shame Disney could not build their theme park. Tokyo's Disney Sea is by far the best themed of any of the Disney parks worldwide. Hope they can build another one in North America. Great video Jake!

Tokyo DisneySea is awful... It has very few rides, of which most have very short attraction time (you wait about an hour for a 2min ride)... there is a lot of empty space to walk around... nothing really links up... they also have rides for old movies that most kids and even some adults dont know. It's an ok themepark, they used ideas from Port Disney, but apart from a few characters and the Toy Story Land, it's doesn't feel like a disney theme park.

Amazing video on a cancelled Disney project I've always been fascinated with, but never able to find satisfying info on!! I live about 25 min from Long Beach and currently work in the city. As stunning as the project sounds, I'm glad it was never realized in LB - the city has bigger civilian issues without taking on the space, traffic, and tax burden of Port Disney imo. The surrounding area w/ the current aquarium is cute (though still needing an update). Plus it would have been redundant with Anaheim less than an hour away...glad it was finally somewhat brought to life in Japan and would love to see it one day! Great work on the vid, as always

It sounds as if Paradise Pier/Pixar Pier at DCA owes something to the Port Disney plan too, specifically the old-time amusement park recreation. I think that of all of the never-built Disney park proposals (Disney's America, Westcot, the villain park, Beastly Kingdom at AK, the floating park in the old oil tanker)... this is the coolest.

I'm from Long Beach and i remember this clearly. The city and residences fought this tooth and nail. I remember being disappointed when it didnt occur. As for the "wild life" photo in 8:39..."this or this" you neglect to show which wildlife they're were talking about, you know...the ones under the surface of the water, and make no mistake about it, there IS vast wildlife there.
