If you cancel student loan debt you have to cancel the debt for the single mothers that decided not to do go to college and racked up credit card debt. Shit at that point you might as well cancel all debt it would be the only fair way. Realistically it’s just a terrible idea to cancel debt, take responsibility for yourself.

@Fuck Google I agree that college is Overrated, currently skill acquisition is more important than a degree. I also agree the "our jobs are being taken" is silly, as someone I can't remember said roughly "If an immigrant who barely speaks english can come across the country and steal your job, You need to do a better job.". And as someone with similar situation, no degree working as a surgical instrument tech, I can see alot of people who are stuck with debt are with it because they couldn't shake their parents and peers beliefs that college is everything, because it was for them. Fact is based on the info I've been able to find most people don't discharge their debt until age 50, and having that on someone who still can't legally drink just seems harsh. Sure, we could leave them to drown, but the world is no longer a zero-sum game, and every person who is able to support themselves comfortably, is another person who is able to advocate for things that we find important.

There absolutely are tons of jobs that pay that well. The thing is that those positions require you to be good at something or certified in something. There's welding positions open for 40k and over and they simply require a welding test, welding is a skill that people can learn at home. No one is going to just be handed a good paying job, you have to be good at something, welcome to America.

@@020finnnn first of all there is 0 guarantee you'll actually find work in your field, second of all if there's a 30k cost of entry to learn a good trade than it kinda discourages poor people from doing it. How are people supposed to pull themselves up by their bootstraps if the only jobs they're qualified for are shitty retail jobs that don't pay anything and take up all your time leaving you with 0 way to learn an actual trade. If you honestly think that education isn't insanely overpriced than you're either spoiled, too young to attend school yet, or dumb
@020finnnn

@@GamerSlayer5000 if you take a direction with low job opportunities, that’s called you being dumb. I don’t go put all my money on blackjack on number 13 and complain when I don’t make money. The only solution is stopping the federal goverment from being in the student loan business and privatizing it. But this will add a few problems first. A cheaper college tuition means less valuable diploma, and make the high skilled teachers not teach. Why would you teach for a bunch of students when you are specialized in something and can make more practicing that instead of teaching? So quality would drop. If you think so simply of such a complex issue and call people with a other opinion dumb shows how simple your thoughts are.
@Ilikemusic101
@Ilikemusic101 3 жыл бұрын
@@GamerSlayer5000 Education is overpriced but a lot of those high costs are due to the government giving loans instead of funding public universities like they used to up until the late 70's when they switched and took over loans. Our schools in the US are also far more costly in size and style than those that are built in places like Europe and also kids in the US most of the time choose to go to a state school and take out loans to live in dorms or choose to go out of state. The reality is, if you pick a good degree, a 30k investment while overpriced is still a good investment and most who go to college see a good rate of return on this investment.

@@KALSKingdom most people don’t want to take college seriously and want to party. Most people don’t try to take college classes in highschool, they don’t want to go to a community college. I disagree with the thinking that college is always 100% bad, but as woody said, your employment is more secure, safer and all that. It’s a lot easier and safer to get to where you want to be. You can become a welder and put in work and make like $150 an hour, toy are working a backbreaking job and it takes work to get to that point. Some people are not the type of become welders, or plumbers. Some people want to become welders and plumbers and that is their dream job and they are happy with it. I also think a lot of people were forced to live a non luxurious lifestyle in college and indulge too much when they start making all that money. Granted I am a 17yo kid, but my plan would be to treat my self a bit but otherwise live on the bare minimum putting all I could into the loan debt.

there are tons of jobs for people with no college degree that pay very well.... the 30k avg salary number destiny quoted seems very low because that factors in all people who are entry level, people who are low motivation, people who are just losers, people who work a side job while being a mother, people with handicaps and disabilities, retirees who choose to stay working a simple job like "greeter" or "toll booth worker" who might actually be very well off or prior military 20 years service and just so happed to only have went to high school.... it groups all those in with people who are semi successful in trades or trucking or running heavy equipment even small business owners. As for the argument about immigration, why does it need to be all or nothing? There are many, many countries across the globe that allow immigration based on need. If you work in a field that their job market has a shortage of skilled labor, you may be able to immigrate. If you're unskilled labor, good luck. And before someone pulls out the "Americans won't do the jobs" line, if the jobs pay appropriately for unskilled labor, people will work, especially if they don't have Uncle Sam's teet to suckle on.
