Listen to the applause, it's deafening!!!! At the 26 minute mark Erika Lewis sings a new song for me, it is so wonderful, it could make a grown man cry! What a voice!!!! Does anyone know it???? They just panned the audience, everyone is so intense, waiting for the next song!!!!

Second, third and fourth the appreciation !!! Beautifully recorded, each set. And a band of friends who were playing in string bands on New Orleans streets 12 years ago .... Shaye, Barnabus and Todd found abandoned instruments after Katrina AND TAUGHT THEMSELVES & EACH OTHER HOW TO PLAY ... becoming the worlds best traditional jazz band .... terrific people, helluva band .......

Shaye’s cornet was given to her by Ed Polcer, Ben Polcer’s father, Ben played cornet in Loose Marbles and Shaye played Piano.

@@Kanaka38 per Shaye - " “I was staying at a house where there was a little collection of abandoned swamp [flood damaged] instruments. They were all messed up. Barnabus and I were trying to figure out scales on the trumpet together, and it was just so fun. I just got really hooked." - OffBeat, March 2018 - midway 5th PP. www.offbeat.com/articles/masterful-exuberant-tuba-skinny-electrifies-streets/ With Loose Marbles she was playing with Ben P O lcer, not Ed, his father .. Ben Polcer gave Shaye his fathers cornet. Yes, she plays piano & cornet at a masterful level; the rest "just" remarkably well ... not to mention composing and arranging. Her grandfather was Al Cohn, sax & arrangements with Woody Herman. Her grandmother, Marilyn Moore, was jazz singer often compared to Billie Holiday. Shaye's father is Joe Cohn, a well regarded jazz guitarist. Her mother, Yas Ishibashi, plays jazz piano & sings ... here's a 2015 link w/ the three of them - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGeYcqudqLuXY8U Of course what matters is what she has done with her playing ...

Rock Me (at 26 minute mark) Sister Rosetta Tharpe Now won't you hear me singin' Hear the words that I'm saying Wash my soul with water from on high Why the world loves love is around me Even forced to buy me But oh, if you leave me I will die You hold me in the bosom Till the storms of life is over Rock me in the cradle of our love Only feed me till I want no more Then you take me to your blessed home above Make me journey You make my burning brighter Help me to do good wherever I can Oh, let thou praise and thrill me Thou loving kindness fill me Then you hold me Hold me in the hollow of the hand You hold me in the bosom Till storms of life is over Rock me in the cradle of our love Only feed Then you'll take me to your blessed home above

There are certain songs that make me cry (Star Spangled Banner, Louisiana, Battle Hymn of the Republic, etc ... Then there are certain entertainers, professionals & people that do extraordinary things that make me cry, (Olympians, Abraham Lincoln, Oskar Schindler, etc... I must be the weakest Loosyana boy there is b/c I'm 54 yrs old and find myself crying during most of Tuba Skinny's song list :( I love the music. Grew up w/ it. I don't know why I cry but something about the music coming from home or this band and they way they execute them really make me emotional. I can't compliment anyone for fear of leaving someone out or putting someone above another. But I would like to thank Ms. Cohn for getting it all together :) Sincerely ........... P.S. thanks for filming it all for us CANDCJ !!

Man, you better have your shit together with whatever your playing in this band, or else Shaye gonna put the hammer down.. They have over 350 songs last time I read, no music notes, not just playing the song, but better be good too. Notice Shaye had a lot more solos, should do it more often, shows you how unselfish this talent is, no need to grand stand. Amazing band, been listening to them everyday since I discovered them 3 months ago
