I had these skates and they did me good for a year until my feet grew out of them. I loved these skates, just my biggest problem was that one of the toe stops fell out, and the chamber for the screw was damaged so it could never screw back in.( Instead i j-b welded it in 😂😬)They were great skates to have before I got my moxis! 4.5/5 Stars ⭐️

Yeah my school has a roller*blading* unit. It’s not roller skating, but it’s still fun and is what got me into roller skating. Though I only started 2 weeks ago and I’m still using the roller skates they say are horrible, I’m still enjoying it.

I got the halo impalas!! They are amazing! ! The boot broke in around 2 weeks in, the wheels are great, the stoppers are good, I've only had them around 4 months, and had no problems. I couldn't decide between the halo or the leopard print, so i got both! ! For the price, they are really good.

@@kathycormiersuntanningrebe7870 hi Kath, they are a 58mm and 82A, pretty much a good hybrid for outside and in. I changed my wheels to a 93A, i found that the 82A were a bit too grippy on the rink, but..... personal preference of course. The 82A are really nice to ride on pavement if outdoor is more of what you like doing.❤ but they are still good for rink skating too.

Those were the exact skates I bought for my learner/first pair. They are still great, the only thing I don’t like is the fact they get dirty fast, and the stopper comes lose kinda often. But overall great skates!

Use thread lock on the stoppers. It’s a type of glue used to stop bolts coming undone through vibration. You can also use plumbing PTFE tape. Cheap to buy from most hardware stores

35nee nail varnish will work but is brittle when dry and still allows the bolt to work loose. 37 years of skating has taught me a trick or two about skate maintenance 😎👍

I love these skates. I have had them for a little over a year. I skated the hell out of them in the streets and in the parks. The toestops are a little hard but still good. I always replace them with the suregrip stoppers. My stoppers have never loosened either nor fell out. I have jumped off stairs on these and they never done me wrong. Definitely worth getting if you’re on a budget. I feel like these skates can last a very long time. I love my candi grl skates 💕

I recently got those same skates! I do not know how to skate but I wanted to start after binge watching your channel. I like these skates a lot but I find it hard to bend my knees with them laced all the way up...so I don't. I had an issue with my left skate rolling to the right, so my husband adjusted it for me. The toe stops bounce when I put it down. I may look in to changing them since you also found issues with them. But I do love them. They are my 1st pair of skates ever and I'm 37.

You just need to wear them in, I’m a figure skater and at first my ice skates were incredibly stiff but after a few months of skating you’ll know just how to bend your legs perfectly and the shoe will be a lot more worn and will allow it

This is old but be careful with not lacing it up all the way ! It's stiff at the top so if you fall, you dont break your ankle

So glad you did this review. My daughter watches all your videos and is a big fan. She wants some moxi skates but I told her she had to stop growing first. So we got her these skates because they're what I have and I love them. We skate inside because we live in a rural area, and they work great in the rink also!

I got my Candi Girl skates a few months ago and I love them! It was the first pair of skates I ever tried on and I knew that I should test to see if I liked it, could actually do it, then get good at it before an upgraded pair. My goal is to be able to upgrade to some Moxi by this summer, but I have told myself that I need to earn it! If you are on a budget or just starting out... GET THESE MEOW!

How did your candi girl skates last? Are they still structurally sound? I'm trying to decide between candi girl skates, impalas, beach bunnies and lollies, but I've seen many people have said their impalas don't last long, the beach bunnies are okay when it comes to price but with the shipping for Europe they're too expensive and same goes for the lollies. If the candi girls are good enough, then I don't have a reason to try to save up for another 6 months to buy anything moxi. You'd really help me choose :)

Infernal Cookie I’ve only had my candi girls for a few months so this isn’t exactly what your looking for but they are great. I’ve. Een using them for roller derby and I don’t feel like they’re falling apart or anything! The only problem I have with them is the toe stop becoming loose but it only fell of one time. Besides that these work good until you can get better skates. I hope that helped a bit :) also I know a few people that have had them for years and they love them

For my wide feeted ladies, I saved up and bought a pair of chaya lifestyle skates as the rio rollers and beach bunnies I have tried on were cripplingly narrow. They range from 80 GBP (which is about 100 dollars I think) to 125 GBP (140-150 dollars? Ish), and are wide enough for my spade feet, stiff booted, heat mouldable and I have only had to replace the bearings from the original factory setup, the octo wheels they came with are great and have lasted me four months already. Moxi's are just too expensive for me right now, especially as a beginner and a university student, and seeing EVERYONE I admire on Moxi's and nothing else is super depressing, so thanks for this video Indy. The "best beginner skates" being over 300 pounds walls out a lot of starting skaters who just cannot afford to dump a month's rent (and groceries on shipping and tax) into a new hobby. I would love to see more video's like this on this channel, as loads of lower price skates have their own merits and when learning, its safer to trash 100 quid of skate than 300 quid of skate, and I'm sure I don't just speak for myself when I say I T.R.A.S.H my skates :'D

Thaaaank yoooou! I have bunions and am a beginner, so finding reviews on width and moldability was super important. Plus, I'm in Germany where quads just aren't as popular and I don't really have the option of going to a store to try on. After months of comparing, I narrowed it down to Chaya and Candi Girl (Rio's are clearly too narrow and have plastic plates anyways).

Yes! Been riding the holographic ones a bit now and they are great so far! The wheels on the Candi girl are higher quality but the plates and boot on the impala worked well for the mile or so that I skated in them.

i don’t know if my opinion matters, but ive been watching a lot of reviews on both since i had the same question- and i’d personally go with the candi girl skates. i’ve noticed a huge boot separation problem with the impalas. i’ve seen some people who’s boot started to come off after only two months of using them!!! and with candi girl i’ve seen reviews where people have had them for years and they work great! so candi girl all the way

I just bought these at the beginning of the month. I used to skate the rinks every Friday or Saturday when I was in 6-8th grade and always wanted my own pair of skates. I’m 32 now and I’m relearning everything! And some things I never knew. My two older girls wanted to learn to skate too so I got them some adjustable candi girl skates. These are very narrow so DO buy a size up. The wheels are great, the laces are great, they are very comfortable once you get them on and move around. The tongue is a bit weird because it’s so large but once the skate is on it’s not too bad. For the price, you really can’t beat this! Plus, you can invest in some higher quality safety gear too.

Syrollesse they hold up pretty well honestly! they last so much longer than any jackson boot i’ve had. i skate a lot so i get new boots every 12-18 months though 😭

@@esvete844 get a coach! no really, they will keep you safe. for the $30 to $50 per half hour, you will learn a lot and avoid a ton of falls. the rollr rink is always your safest bet too. once you feel comforable, you can get out on the street, sidewalks

I wish you uploaded this a week ago before I had bought my own pair. I have wider feet and no matter how much I loosened the skates, they would continue to hurt. I tried to skate in them but the pain became unbearable after 2 minutes and I took them off. My feet were hurting and bruised at the ball of them. If you're thinking of purchasing these skates, always factor in how narrow they are so you can avoid being hurt like I was. Still good skates otherwise 😊

@@INDYJAMMAJONES I do believe with time they would've broken in and molded well with my feet, but because they were quite stiff on the sides I felt like it wouldn't happen anytime soon and ended up sending them back and just save up for a pair of Moxi Beach Bunnies. I do really believe for anyone willing to break them in with time then they would be absolutely perfect

I had to break in my Moxie beach Bunnies, the biggest part I did in 48 hours. I don't have a rink with an oven for my skates, but I found skating short distances in the sunlight did just as good, they are so comfortable on my feet now. For whatever reason, I am the opposite of what Indy says. To get 78A for bumpy rough surfaces, I seem to skate better in the harder wheels on rough pavements.

So I have bunions (aka really painful bones jutting out that make my feet v wide) and I just laced my candee’s differently and it made a w o r l d of difference. I suggest looking up different ways to lace your skates so you can have more room where you need it!

Thanks for the great review! Btw how are the sidewalks and streets so smooth over by you? Where I live, the sidewalks are all busted up and cracked or made with varying materials including lots of old stone embeddings- just great to stumble on. But I’ve been using your technique you taught in your other videos on “street feet” and how to skate over/around obstacles. Nevertheless, I wish there were some smooth pavement around here like in your vid. Sometimes I feel like I’m skating on the surface of the himalayas here!

I have had the candi girl skates now for a few weeks and, for my first pair of roller skates, I'd say they are a really great purchase! I absolutely love the color and style they come in and the translucent outdoor wheels. In the future, I would think about purchasing a different toe stop, but for now, the one that they came with will do just fine! Also if you are thinking of wearing these outside a lot, I would recommend you look into purchasing a toe cover to preserve the suede on the toes of your skates! I also love their affordability and I haven't found any problems with them so far!

i have been skating the Carlin berry candy girl skates for about 6 months now. very good quality and they defiantly last. the toe stop shredded easily but I had no problem with replacing them. i defiantly recommend buying them!

I've had this skate for over a year now. I skate on the street and on our miniramp with them. Here are some things I have done with them: -- Like Pigeon said, if you are a bigger gal, tighten those trucks, ESPECIALLY if you want to try ramp skating. It will help your ankles out and give you a lot more stability while you are pumping. -- The flimsy tongue drove me crazy. So I grabbed some craft foam from the craft store and reinforced them by gluing the foam to the inside of the tongue. Now they are the bomb. They are fine at the rink, too. I feel like they are a bit slow, but I plan to get some new wheels and my toe stops need to be replaced. My boot has broken in really nicely and I have fallen on our ramp A LOT. They are super durable. I don't plan to upgrade until I destroy these. And when I do, it'll have to be something with the good ankle support that these have. Like a Jack boot.

@@annabanana2743 Yes!! They held up great! I put those radar energy wheels everyone loves on them and it was awesome. I actually passed them on to a friend after I upgraded. For sure my highest recommendation for a sturdy beginner skate.

Thank you for these reviews! I just bought my pair of Candi Girl skates after seeing this as I was about to buy the Chicago skates first until I saw your review of those! So far I am glad I spent the extra money on these. I've only been skating in my apartment a little bit since I got them because it's been raining lately so the stiffness of the boot has not broken in very much but they are otherwise very smooth and so much easier to skate in than the rental skates at my local rink (those were awful). I went outside in them for the first time today and they were a bit slower out on the driveway pavement than inside my apartment but I figure once my leg muscles get stronger it will be easier. I got them in my shoe size 8 and they fit well. I have narrow feet and the sides hurt a tiny bit still but they seem to be breaking in already. I can't wait to get out and start skating seriously! :D

lara fitzpatrick I really liked them! They roll pretty well, however I can’t give you a in depth answer since my skates got here a few weeks before quarantine and due to my schedule I was only able to skate 1 - 2 times a week. But so far they work really well! I think you will like them :D

I’ve actually had those same skates for a little over a year now. I actually bought a second pair that had indoor wheels versus the softer outdoor wheels. They are great and I use them so much. Just go up one size because that’s what I did and they fit very comfortably and I love them!

Simply one that's not excessively wide. If you have to look for wide shoes - or custom order shoes because your feet are wider than "normal" - these skates won't work for you. If you can go into a store, grab that size 8 (or whatever size you are) off the shelf and wear them, these are great skates for you.

@@MystiqueRisingSun I agree. but there are plenty of skate boot mfgrs for wide feet out there. ridell makes wide boots. your skate boot pro may be able to stretch narrow skate boots for you. good luck. US citizens tend to have a bit wider feet.

@@jmdenison Yes...and those Riedell's (and others) are clearly marked AS "wide" somewhere in the description. The OP asked. "What is a normal foot?" Normal is just that, as stated, if you can go to a store and pick a shoe off the shelf in your size, you have a normal foot....unless you specifically have to look FOR wide shoes (or custom order them). Since the Candi Girl skates (as shown in this video) are vinyl, they won't stretch. Most people with wide feet can usually still wear a "normal" leather or suede booted skate because the material stretches to mold to your foot over time. Only those with "excessively" wide feet (generally those who have to custom order shoes) can't do a typical leather/suede boot...but "a little wide" means they should be okay if they go for a higher end skate.

I use to Rollerskate in my youth. Nearly 20 years later I tried again. It Is One Of My Greatest Memories. I Purchased A Pair Of Candy Girls On Amazon As A Starter Skate..I Was Not To Sure If I Could Even Still Skate. I Was Excited For The Arrival And Unboxing. I got The Purple Ones With Blue Wheels. I Took Them To The Rink First Where I Felt Kinda Scared To Look Foolish And Intimidated By The Roller Derby Girls Skating Around. When I Was Arriving The Girls Came Up And Said About The Candy Girls.."Wow Nice Skates, Are Those Moxis?..as I handed them to her.. I Had Never Heard Of Moxis Before.. Now I Laugh Because Moxis Is The Best Skate Ever And The Girls Knew That. I Just Love all The Roller Girls. I had some chicago skates they where really heavy and I didn't liked them , I wore them for almost a year but know i have a pair chaya melrose ( the ones which are black and pink) with fiber glass plate and they are super light and the wheels are super nice for street skating :)

I started out my skate journey by watching your vids, and I'm so glad you reviewed the Candi Girls! I got my pair around the first days of August, so I had about an entire month of skating daily before the weather got on / off and work interfered. That solid month of skating daily broke them in to a perfect fit, although I always have to skate with socks on, no matter what. The day I skated with bare feet, the boots felt way too lose and I kept tripping. If you're icky about it, the bearings and mechanics get extremely dirty (or maybe it's the park I skate in), so along with adjusting every off week, I try and clean the trucks and wheels.Toe stops have worked fine for me, although I don't know how to do a tomahawk break yet. All in all, I think they're a fantastic option for someone who wants to start out skating.

Just gave my candi girl’s their first spa day, the wheels were on pretty tight so I needed something a little heftier than a skate took to get them off, the bearings came out easy with a screw driver and cleaned up well, the suede gets pretty scratched up at the park but nothing soapy water and new toe guards and caps won’t fix, I swapped the tow stop to a suregrip immediately and my sister put her impala wheels on from her previous skates, no dramas and lasting so much better than impalas, I have no issues with my wheels except the size so I may change to smaller impala wheels soon

Typically girls stop growing between the ages of 11 and 13. Mine stopped when I was 12....which was good since I got my first REAL skates at that age. Chicago's....back when they were still made here in the U.S. They still worked great when I took my kids to the rink in my early 30's. Would probably still be skating them now if it wasn't for my oldest daughter wearing them outside...and leaving them out in the rain. UGH!

Heyyy, I’m a beginner skater and I want some skates that are cheep but not stiff-wheeled for my birthday. I want to skate like you do, so should I get slightly heeled skates or flat skates? And is there such thing as adjustable yet still decent skates? I have some adjustable skates but the wheels are super stiff, they’re many years old.

The skates you can get for $40-$50, the wheels usually don't turn well and trip you. Then you have to replace wheels and bearings which runs around $50-$60 so it's better to spend the $100 to begin with on a more quality skate that will last longer.

Hey listen and believe me I understand. But the best thing is to just pay up. Why? because cheep skates= cheep function. You will hurt yourself and won't be able to learn how to skate properly due to the poor quality and function of the skates. Invest in a good pair of skates it's worth it trust me....
