its called 'colonial mentality', which means insecure Filipinos wants foreigner's view that this food is good this place is great, etc ... how degrading is that ! Filipinos NEED to get RID of this ! Thai, Vietnamese and the rest of Asia does not care what foreigners think of them ! thats why foreign vloggers have very low views

Foreigner KZbinrs know that the Philippines has the most social media viewers in the world. So now there are so many of them visiting the PI. They capitalize on it to grow their channels. It’s great for Philippines tourism. Just keep up the great work and you’ll get the silver button in no time. You seem like great, honest people. Mabuhay !

That's a good point! The Philippines consumes more social media content than anyone else in the world and probably by a wide margin too 😆 Appreciate the support and encouragement. We'll keep shooting for the ⭐ All the best! ❤

In general KZbin viewers are smart enough to discern which vloggers stay true to themselves as oppose to those who make exaggerated spills. A vlog must be interesting enough to generate viewers' interest, relevant to the times and can relate to them, to name a few. It's like making a mini documentary film. It's easy to lose a viewer if the vlogger meanders a lot in his video especially if it's more than 14 minutes and the presentation has no visual impact, and most importantly clarity. Those are the ones I go by as a viewer. Also if the vlogger is creative enough or lazy to do some basic research about the topic she/he vlogs, it shows in his/her work. Vloggers should be primarily concerned about the quality of the product they produce and not simply to generate numbers of viewers, otherwise, their reputation is on the line.

I’m glad you guys brought this up because this is the number 1 reason why I stop watching certain KZbinrs. When I see clickbait or exaggeration on their title, I usually just move on. I don’t mind the use of the flag or other Philippine symbols to get more views, I understand that. It’s when they over exaggerate or start with “I can’t believe they have this …” or “I can’t believe they can …”, that just rubs me the wrong way. To me, it’s such a backhanded compliment, and they already view Pinoys in a certain light. Sorry for ranting, this topic somehow reminded me of the documentary regarding Jeremy Lin “38 At The Garden “, a must see in my opinion. Anyway, this is why BGC Dreams is like a cool breeze on hot summer days. You have deep, insightful contents and doesn’t have preconceived perceptions of the Philippines. Both of you are respectful and genuine in your reactions. I truly hope that more people can see you guys through all these smoke and noise in KZbin.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I hear you and I think certain tactics like using the flag 🇵🇭 aren't as big a deal but yeah, the over-exaggeration and embellishing of things, that's probably not everyone's cup of tea. I guess it can come off as OA or inorganic. No worries on the rant, it's a good topic and we love to hear different opinions on the matter. We'll just do our best to keep things real 👍 Appreciate your support and all the best! ❤

Yes! I'm aware of the pinoy-baiting tactics used by most foreigners, but am I going to complain about it? Probably not. They did a lot of promotion for the Philippines. Through them, I discovered how progressive and modern the Philippines is-Im a Los Angeles-based Filipino. I love watching their videos.

Personally, what I do to these Foreign Vloggers doing their thing in my country, are to subscribed (selective though), like, and once in a while comment on their videos, so they can earned money to spend in the Philippines. But as soon as they leave the Philippines, I immediately unscribed, and usually (left) press the button for "Not Interested" on their videos from other countries. Same goes to all those Mukbangers trying Filipino food.

Keep making interesting content and people will continue to watch. Thumbnails are just part of the marketing/advertising to capture someone’s attention. If the content is not what is expected, then stop watching. Right? Simple. No need to be bashed or criticized for it. People taking vloggers and vlogging too seriously. This is all for entertainment purposes only. 👍🏻

Actually the bottomline for this 'pinoy baiting' is that as part of our "pinoy pride" mentality, Filipinos in general are so curious what the foreigners are thinking and telling about our culture and some foreigners are exploiting this to the hilt. I think it's nothing to do with exaggerating it's more of Pinoys being a bit insecure and image conscious about themselves and our country. Whether its negative or positive you will certainly get "engagements" from pinoys especially ofw's who are the most nostalgic and passionate about protecting and defending the image of our country. Our self esteem is somewhat connected to our country. Period. 😄

I say this as a Filipino American and don’t want to act like I know what Filipinos deal with in the country, but from my experience with even Filipino Americans, Filipinos just want validation from white people and literally just want to be “inferior”. There is also another extreme That get too negative about the Philippines and how some Filipinos (fil-ams) don’t speak 100% Tagalog. At the end of the day, Filipinos bring these cringe white or foreign KZbinrs. They either suck up to being inferior or cry about how the country is shit when it’s their fault they vote sons of dictators and don’t try to improve many things about the country. I can’t speak everything on politics, but I just feel like Filipinos can’t grasp on finding a good middle ground of their natural identity and trying to improve the country economically so that they can get respect. Filipinos are like Americans but fail in succeeding the goals. Filipinos are honestly very selfish when I research and have learned more about the culture or form personal experience. I hope things can get better because Filipinos are stronger and have potential to be GREAT but Filipinos don’t see that for my opinion, more so in the Philippines.

What visa are you on in the Philippines? Just curious. Is it the tourist visa which one must keep on renewing every 2 months for?
@BGCDreams
@BGCDreams Жыл бұрын
Tourist visa and you can re-new I think max 6 months at a time. Something like after 3 years, you'll have to leave the country temporarily to reset the clock... Another option is SRRV if you qualify in terms of age & investments in the 🇵🇭 to gain permanent residency. Cheers!

Glad you are addressing this topic early in your vlogging… it’s a slippery slope. I get the need for views and beating the algorithm, but some channels constantly leverage overly dramatic or reactionary clickbait or Pinoybait titles and thumbnails even after they’ve established themselves and have gotten their silver or gold YT play buttons. Good authentic content ultimately always wins out, but sometimes you need to just get the ball rolling to get eyeballs and engagement. It’ll be interesting to see how you guys find the right balance.

I have a different take on this. There are so many of us Filipinos online seeking validation that we've practically created "Pinoy Baiting." This is what you get for going online and harassing content creators to do videos about Filipino culture. I personally believe that we are at fault. Foreigners have obviously caught on to this and are taking advantage of it. Can you blame them?

if they think it's a form of bating, then don't watch!!! Simple as that... nothing more irritating than false sense of pride. It only takes 10 seconds to figure out if a vlog is bating... I'm a subscriber, I know what your content is about, so it doesn't matter to me what title you use coz I know I will feel amused later... to avoid unnecessary disheartening remarks, just refrain from using any flag... it's better to grow your channel's community with quality subscribers that you can have an intelligent exchange of relevant opinions... many people have little knowledge of geography anyway, let alone national flags, lol...

I follow a few foreign vloggers who feature the Ph but I choose what to watch. It is not uncommon for foreigners to do “kiss ass” vlogs about the country which to me is annoying due to lack of authenticity. When I encounter someone who does that, I call them out with a strongly worded comment, click the dislike button, and leave.
