But here's the problem: Trump didn't "drain the swamp" or make the government less corrupt or less bloated. He made it more corrupt and he spent like a drunken sailor. He incited an attack on the U.S Capitol and didn't just stop there. He asked the Secretary of State of GA to "find votes" for him. He was attempting to overturn the election and overthrow the government which is the literal definition of treason. And here is the biggest irony of all. You rightfully acknowledge that Trump was voted in. I acknowledge it as well. But his supporters refuse to acknowledge that he was voted out.

Folks should not set themselves up for disappointment. The math just isn’t there for Sliwa. In the Republican primary Sliwa won with 32,512 votes, his opponent Mateo got 12,693 votes. Undeclared write ins 1,500 Adams won with 420,000 votes, his opponent Garcia got 397,000 votes and Wiley came in third with 254,000 vote. That’s over a million votes cast for the Democrat ticket and less than 50,000 on the Republican’s. So let’s not kid ourselves NYC is a liberal stronghold.

@@wrongthinker332 yes, but less than fifty votes were cast collectively for the Republican candidates while over a million were cast for the democratic candidates in the primaries where one had to be registered with a party to vote. Staten Island is the largest Republican district in nyc, it also has the smallest population of all the boroughs. Im sure we will not see hundreds of thousands of registered Democrats crossing party lines to vote for Sliwa! This race won’t even be close, it’ll probably be called before midnight.

Because New Yorkers aren't getting educated on what these candidates stand for. They go in and vote blue no matter what and sadly I used to be the same. That's what we're taught here and we vote the same every single time expecting things to change for the better. My own father told me that if I vote for any other party then my vote wouldn't count since I'm registered as Democrat. This type of ignorance needs to be snuffed out if this city ever wants to get better. Born and raised here for nearly 3 decades, and all I can say is the last decade or so has just been a downhill slope.

I like Curtis he is VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE STRONG IN HIS CONVICTIONS and would make a very good Mayor. But let's be realistic, usually those candidates NEVER WIN...I would have liked to have seen NO SILLY RED HAT ON HIS HEAD despite doing good for the city leading the Guardian Angel's. Simple clean suit and tie with his hair combed would have sufficed. I think this city AND this country are tired of the HOLLYWOOD CLOWNS and want the clean cut educated that speak like Trump did freely which became the under the breath voice everyone wanted to really say, with Trump saying it. @@DoggieNYC I live in Texas now so I see NYC from a different prism. The city has had increased bums, weed all over the place and I have seen it regress to the early 90's. This is subjective but when you like at the crime rate, it turns my opinion objective. The price of living is out of control, all them bikes make parking terrible. I go back now to NYC and it is almost like visiting a 3rd world country. Leaving the NY has been the best decision I have ever made.
