Great video I'm glad that it's not being demolished not like other buildings but as I've said before that's what you get when the same council year after year is allowed to demolish so many of our beautiful buildings and in turn demolishes our history and heritage I understand that some have to go but I'm very certain that if we had a council that cared about our history then maybe lots of them could be saved.it just feels like my past memories are being erased in some ways
@SarahsUKGraveyard3 жыл бұрын
good point. I will say this. Today I was in Barnsley and Huddersfield. their buildings are as old as or older than what we have here so my point is this. How come Yorkshire councils manage tp preserve buildings and landscapes with no issue yet here our buildings go to seed and then get knocked down. my deduction is that ours are purposely left to rot so they can be knocked down

I remember the old library back in the retro days and the old box computers they use to have and the grand staircase when you use to go in that lead to the gallery and cafe there was a area where you could rent cassette tapes and videos on the first floor and they use to stamp your library books 📚 I remember the old carpet in the library I was reading about the library ages ago that they were going to rip of the carpets and put new flooring in and glass display cabinets props of the history of the Cotten mills so the younger generation can learn all about the historical Oldham there was going to a big renovation to be carried out to modernise the library 📚 that was on the Oldham council agenda. Weather the circumstances have changed of how much work that they can carry out due to the Covid 19 and the impact it’s had it’s nice to know it will reopen again I have missed going to this library I started going to the library in 1986 met some lovely people sweet memories 💕
