How to do a Reconciliation in QuickBooks

I reconcile monthly. I filed a week ago, Ever since I started watching your channel I have learned so much from you, and it has made using QB so much more easier. I must admit I still manually enter transactions, because I enter them as they occur., this also allows me to know my true balance, and run a report of my P&L monthly to see where my business is at the time. You are so helpful. I hand write all my checks and my bank account is not connected to to my Quickbooks. I do balance my bank checkbook monthly. However when I try to reconcile Quickbooks it is always way off. How do I correct this?

Cindy, your liability payments will show on your balance sheet. Different reports will give you different data, it depends what you are trying to figure out. Candus

My team reconciles BUT we have a ton of undeposited funds. How do you match these funds to bank deposits when reconciling? We use QBDT with bank feeds which sync with our payment processor.

I enter my quickbooks (credit card and echeck) payment processing fee total for the month as a bank fee when reconciling that month. It seemed like a simple way to do it. Will that cause problems?

So I'm terrible...I dont keep a full ledger for our business. I do keep track of our cash transactions but currently I pretty much assume the bank statement is correct and categorize those transactions. I guess I should start keeping a ledger, but it sure seems like a lot of work just to tell me that what the bank has is correct. Maybe you can do a video on where to start? We have a few people authorized to buy so I'm guessing they'd need send me the receipt. Also have some accounts set to auto pay so I'm almost thinking we need to not do that anymore :( Reconciling quickbooks vs the actual statement definitely makes sense though and pretty easy to do.

James, The way you will find duplicates is through reconciling. It's best to keep business from personal separate, especially if you have an entity. Candus
