Hi Arlynn- I just have to say thatI love all of the lantern swags & funky bows that you create but this one is just one of my very favorite. Gorgeous lantern swag, Arlynn. I love the Cardinals and poinsettias together, I have them all over my decor as well, and those 4 pattern funky bows are a pain to make, figuratively and literally, lol, but SO worth the effort. They just make the whole project shine and bring everything together.

Arlynn first off, purple is another great color for you. Looks marvelous. I further love the lantern gift with swag. All the elements I love. After a year of watching your vlogs,I finally got to follow your tutorials for a funky bow. Unemployed for since 2014- I have not had the finances to splurge on wired ribbon even though I could find some at dollar Tree. It just didn't seem right to spend extra money on that. I was at my Brothers house and they had a scrunched up piece of wired ribbon laying around. The ribbon is about an inch wide and 6 feet in length. So I followed the rules, dove tailing, measuring for loop and tail lengths, and began reviving the ribbon. I attached it an 8 inch lantern and it made me so happy. I hope to get to the place where I can get some ribbon to do millions more as I have always loved ribbons and bows. I love crafting in every way possible so not having ribbon is very hard. Maybe I can ask Santa for a Hobby Lobby gift card. Heaven. I"d be in heaven. Thought you would enjoy my adventure. Lucky for me my sister loves pretty things but hates doing crafts. She loves having me decorate for the holidays for her so she doesn't have to do it. Love how God made us all different. BTW, I"m not joking. I was hit by a motorcycle Friday crossing the street. The driver forgot pedestrians have the right of way. I was stopped on the side of the road just at dark and I was waiting for him to pass before I continued to cross. He however decided to literally run in to me going about 15 mph. Huge goose egg, thank God my goose egg was from his helmet and not from the road, scrapped up right foot, and very swollen calf, I am beyond fortunate nothing really serious. Emergency doc cleared me a little later so all is well. Really sore today. Laying in bed with leg elevated resting. Thought I'd share with you since you have shared so much. , Luv Luv

What are the calculations for making smaller funky bows? You used 30" then 10" tails and a 5" loop. This is determined how, please? Beautiful111

Cathy, I’ve only made funky bows smaller in one way. I’ve only used 2 different ribbons. I’ve cut 4 strips of each at 20”. That gives each loop 2-5” tails and a 5 inch loop. When assembling turn two loops one way and then turn the next two the opposite direction.

I see some thumbs down and I wonder why. How does anybody not approve or like that fact that you are contributing such a nice item to your husband's family get together? I think there are those who are a touch jealous.

Yep, I noticed that I have several thumbs downs...I'm not sure why on this one, maybe you are right sweet lady...I mean I know that not everyone is going to love what I do or even why I do things. My question is always, why can't they just scroll right on by instead of clicking something that they know will make someone feel yucky. That type of thing goes beyond my comprehension, truly. :'(
