My mom made these back in the 60’s and 70’s! We loved them!

My mom used to make these back in the 70’s. She would use different color candies. Even cinnamon and butterscotch. They were so festive. Glad I found your video. Gonna try my first one and think about the good ole days. ❤️🎄🎁

I am so glad!! We used to make these all the time with my mom when we were kids for teacher gifts and such. I just kept making them!! I might make one myself to hang on my pantry door throughout winter. Happy crafting!!

Use an old metal coat hanger as the wire if you have them. Most of us have heaps laying around & they work perfectly. Great Video

I saw a gorgeous wreath for the Autumn made of butterscotch gold along with orange and dark brown and normally I hate those colors. But the wreath was gorgeous and I'm going to start now for Autumn and Christmas.

Thank you for sharing! Do you think if I use a larger embroidery hoop I could tie the ribbon around three candies at a time to save time?

This is such a great idea. What diameter are your wire hoops? I would love to try and make these but don't want to buy wire rings that are too big
@carolynjordan46338 жыл бұрын
we yes to make these out of coat hanger.wired ones

I made this wreath and used a wire coat hanger, I cut the hook off and then joined it by bending the ends and then putting them together. However,, I was so, so, sad after all that work when I held it up, it was to heavy for the wire hanger, oh, it held, but, it droops. so disappointed.

What is the diameter of the wire ring?
@treacherouswendy81318 жыл бұрын
would floral tape work ok? it would save some time...then add the curly ribbon as accents!
@DesignbyMelody8 жыл бұрын
It could potentially work... if you use it, let me know how it turns out! I'd love to know!

Where did you get the rings from?
@DesignbyMelody8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Sharon! My dad actually made the rings for me from coated wire and a clamp from the hardware store. But a good substitute would be small embroidery hoops from the craft store. I hope that helps!

can you do this with Hershey kisses? just wondering since the kisses don't have a wrapper like with hard candy.
@DesignbyMelody9 жыл бұрын
+susan aaron Thanks for watching Susan! I've never tried Hershey Kisses, but I'm sure you could... you just would either have to tie them on around the Hershey tag part. Or you could use a foam wreath form and glue the kisses on by the flat round part directly to the foam wreath. I'd probably wrap the wreath form in something first like red or green crepe paper to cover the white styrofoam. I hope that helps!!

Where to buy the ring and whats it called

Hi Carol! I just bought some coated wire from the hardware store and made the ring myself!

How is the wire ring made? Great video. Have a nice day and God bless.🎄
@DesignbyMelody9 жыл бұрын
+Sharon Martino Thank you! The wire ring was actually made by my dad - I think he used a coated wire and a clamp to bend the wire. However, an easier thing to use as a ring is an embroidery hoop - they come in a variety of sizes at a craft store or even Walmart. I hope that helps!!
@martinosharon9 жыл бұрын

Sharon Martino Have fun with it! I'm about to start making some for this year - they are great teacher gifts! And they are so easy to make - just grab a bag of candy, some ribbon, and find a good movie on TV. Enjoy! Thanks again for watching and commenting!

I make them like you do . the people complain that they had to jurk on the candy to get it.
@DesignbyMelody4 жыл бұрын
Hi Laura! They won’t be taking the candies off, they will be untwisting the end, taking the candy off, and leaving the wrapper on the wreath to keep it full as a decor item! As long as you used wrappers that are twisted at the ends then they don’t need to jerk or yank the candy at all!

How many peppermint candies would I need to do this?
@DesignbyMelody6 жыл бұрын
Hi Linda! It just really depends on how tightly you push all the candies up next to each other. I prefer it to be pretty full so I use a lot!
