This is a follow up to: Candytuft (Iberis Sempervirens) In Blooms - April 27 • Candytuft (Iberis Semp...
After almost a month of pure white blooms, time to trim up. I normally trim at the base to keep the plants small. One viewer asked about re-blooming since he/she had to cut back harshly for some reason. I noticed re-blooms in past summers but the bloom counts were low. This question get me thinking and wanting to understand how and where the reblooming come from. Doing four experiments! Hope we can learn something new!

My little gem candytuft has some yellow brown patches on it and they feel brittle. I don't know what's wrong. I've had it several yrs.

What a coincidence! I have two that are brownish and brittle. After going through all possibilities, I think mine are probably at end of its life. A website says they die out in 5 to 6 years. I vaguely recall I had some before and I just pulled them out after they showed no sign of re-bouncing. Since I divide from time to time when I transplant them, loosing a few does not have much an impact. I always have a few extra around. I deadhead them before they go to seeds. May be I need to re-consider and let one or two reseed. I do know perennials have a limited life but it is still hard not to miss them. I hope yours would come back for you. But if they do not, it is not your fault. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
