Im just saying we had a husky growing up (my dads dog not trained almost at all) 😂 she kept me in shape for track and feid in highschool because that girl could run for literal miles, and she was Houdini reincarnated I swear, jumped off a 75 foot cliff onto rocks, no broken bones, got hit by a semi truck, rolled under it and didn't even get road rash, attacked by anouther dog, dislocated paw that relocated itself before we got her to the vet. The endurance of that dog man.. Ive never met anouther one like her, she died at 17 years old. After probably 7 very massive accidents and 7 very 'minor' vet visits. ❤ I miss that dog

People are stoopid. Dogs can indeed have rawhide. I've fed all my dogs them. Chicken feet, pig ears, bull throats, you name it. I think peeps get confused with the coloured/bleached ones that are bad.

Hi i was the one talking about rawhide in the comments, thank you for sharing your side. My family used to give our two small dogs rawhide, but not long ago I found information about the possible dangers of it and it really freaked me out. I'm really glad to hear that there are ones made without the chemicals. We now instead of rawhides feed our dogs dehydrated rabbit ears, dehydrated meats and tracheas, turkey necks etc. But none of them seem to last as long as the rawhides did. At the end of the day we decided to stop feeding rawhide mostly because of our dogs trying to swallow big pieces and choking on them. Once again thank you for sharing your side. I love how we can see how well your training impacted Velocity. Stay safe ❤

Being able to say that Velociraptor can give a correction now and not go overboard is wild. She used to be soooo spicy and I loved her back then and now still. Gosh I can't believe I've been here since Midnight was here and a puppy. I miss her so much. I know she wasn't my dog but I felt so connected to her. If I could, I would have taken her. totally agree with what you said about discipline. when I met my stepson who is autistic everyone was letting his behaviour go unchecked because he was autistic I saw that he needed clear boundaries for the reason they weren't giving boundaries and 8 years later we have the best relationship and he says he loves that I set those boundaries cause he knows they keep him level and calm. I say ill be the bad guy if being the bad guy if it helps him feel safe and level in the future

My dogs get cow ears and love them. They’re highly digestible, softer and more malleable than other long-lasting chews, haven’t had a problem with them! I haven’t used rawhides in a long ass time so I’m not sure but I think the cow ears might be similar. The ones I buy don’t stink.

With the 12 XL American bullies that we own, make them sit and wait for their food. We have had dogs that we did not raise come in with food aggression, take precautions before you just take a food bowl from a dog or set it in front of them. You can start by hand feeding if the dogs temperament allows it. Another option is to set the bowl in front of them, add their favorite part of it to their meal. We feed raw so usually that is the bone segment. If its kibble, just add more kibble or maybe a topper. This will usually fix a dogs food aggression with repetition, until eventually you are able to touch the bowl or them and continue your progression until you can remove the bowl and make them sit and wait for your command. Always keep in mind however that some dogs simply have neurological issues or health problems that may be causing food aggression.

From what I understand rawhide is a choking hazard I believe dogs have chewed off pieces and swallowed it and it lodges in the throat and expands.

I was wondering, we got a Karakatchan i think its called, new dog(also a rescue but very young) and he just wont listen to me. At least not reliable, its my parents dog not mine but I cannot go outside with him since he weighs the same as me and is also bigger and with him not listening as i want him to its just too dangerous to him and others around him when hes only with me. How do I start to train him properly to also take my commands? It's like when I call him he literally looks away pretending I'm not talking to him or just runs off into the house to sit in his place to avoid me calling him I guess, we had no bad interactions and he listens fine to my dad but I really would love a work around with him, so if anyone got an idea of what to try please comment! edit : I'm assuming he thinks he is above me in hierachy but how do I fix this best as not the "Alpha" of the pack?
@SaharaBonnieBullies
@SaharaBonnieBullies Ай бұрын
Not sure what breed that is, but with athletic mastiff type dogs, you can use prong or choke collars. However, you must use this very particularly. You cannot just put on a prong collar and start yanking and believe it will end up okay. The prong collar / choke collar is to correct the dog when they are doing something you do not like. You must have clear and strong communication with the dog. Sometimes the prong collar will allow you to establish a communication path with your dog that otherwise would have been impossible (likely due to excessive pulling or just not giving you any attention outside on a walk.) The problem I am hearing (which may not be reality because I do not live with you or your dog) is a respect issue. Your dog does not respect your commands or the consequences of them. If you call him and he does not listen, you must always get to him and sit him down. He must know that it is not okay to do that.

@SaharaBonnieBullies First of all thank you for your help and time to write this. It's a Bulgarian shepherd as far as I know but there might also be something mixed in for all we know. I am 100% convinced it's a respect issue and also that he's a really easy to scare dog. For example, I call him > he won't listen > I get into a more serious voice > he listens after a bit but will come to me veeeeery slowly and scared as if I would beat him every time he does something wrong. Which is why when he leaves to hide under a table or behind my parents when I am trying to work with him I am reluctant to pull him out as to not make it worse. I'm not a huge fan of those collars but I might try it out if the walks are still as hard, but first, lots more practice. Worst case I'll look for a trainer but I believe it's doable.
@SaharaBonnieBullies

@@AsurazMiaux3 There is the other side to this where if your dog has done something wrong and you are to grab him, you need to sit him down and scold him for what he's done. Intelligent dogs will be able to discern that you are angry or happy, and if you are quick enough after what they have done they can begin to connect what makes you happy and angry.
@Vette
@Vette Ай бұрын
raw hide and pig ears can be safe and dangerous at the sametime. just depends on how the dog chews it. there's dogs that will chew every bit of it till it's gone and there's dogs that will carry it around/lick it far more than they chew it till it gets all soggy and soft and then they sallow the thing whole. that's when it can become a intestinal blockage. my dog would chew on her raw hide till she got about half way through it and then throw it to the back of her mouth and swallow over and over and over again till it went down. no more raw hide for this dork lol
