Cane LMI - Crane computer

This is a video of the LMI or Computer in the Tadano 180g-5. This footage was recorded during a 100,000 lb pick. In the video you will be able to see the different parameters changing in real time as I move the machine to different positions.

Jimmy it's on the same panel but not the same screen. It's straight above the top of the boom .it's got a green,yellow and red line in it. Thanks Jimmy

Andy B, ahhhhhh.... the small screen on top. That screen shows a few things...while picking, it shows the capacity as a bar graph, it sometimes shows boom configuration, sometimes shows main system pressure, etc.. It is all dependent on what I am doing. Thanks for asking a great question. 👍

Another interesting perspective. Do you always have that screen in place to keep an eye on the cable drum? Is that to make sure the cable stays lined up? What can you do to prevent this and recover from it? So many questions! Thanks for sharing.

jix177, that screen is always there. I use it for a few things. The first one is to keep an eye on the rope (cable) to make sure it isn't laying wrong. Second, I use it at times, to be very accurate with the winch control. Great question, thanks for asking. Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍

Thanks for the video on the control panel Jimmy! So I have a couple of questions, First, does the electronics of the crane have lockouts for when you get too close to overload? I assume that they will beep and buzz at you when you get close, but will the crane lockout and only allow you to put the load down when you reach the maximum capacity? Also does the electronics contain a data recorder like in aircraft to record your picks in case of accident? Another video idea for you might be on the draw works and how it operates. On the larger cranes I have seen brake drums, bands and linkages to the crane cab, and I don't see any of that on yours. A short video on how the hydraulic crane draw works would be pretty interesting stuff.

matt lee, it does infact shut down the hoist up, boom down and telescope when it gets to capacity. It also does data log information when it gets past 90%. Great questions, and thanks for the video ideas. Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍

Wayne Tharp, the only automation in the crane is the "Lift Adjuster" function. It is a function that can be activated, which compensates for boom deflection as a pick is being made. However, I don't use it. Anything you see being lifted, is me moving the controls. Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍

What were the limits of picking over the rear? Was that 130k set for the rear?

anthony woodfin, the load charts for this crane are 360°. So, in that configuration, it would pick 130k regardless of where I was turned to. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

Is the 130K that you are safe for at all boom angles at 71.9' of extension, From 0° to 90°? It doesn't seem to change as your angle and distance changes with the same extension.
