However, he said GGG was the opposite and has a reputation for being standoffish with his fellow countryman fighters, and didn't give him the time of the day when he asked for advice.

Atlas is a typical hater who changes goalposts overnight just to not give credit. Prior to fighting Saunders, he said Canelo would have to be at the top of his game because Saunders would make it tough including late in the fight. And he previously described Smith as a tall and strong fighter who knows how to use his range. But after Canelo claimed all the belts in under a year, he turned around and called going for undisputed cherrypicking lol

1. He did need to be at the top of his game vs Saunders. Up till late rounds and that KO shot Saunders was up on a lot of people scorecards. If Canelo wasn't at his best, Saunders could've outboxed him. 2. Smith was CLEARLY very injured going into the fight - and Canelo still couldn't KO him. If he wasn't injured, he could've done what Bivol did to him.

He's been a great champion, that's for sure. He reminds me a lot of Oscar de la Hoya's reign as a champion. I know they have fallen out, and their relationship is probably irretrievably broken, but Oscar was a master at this. He was a master at his craft, and made sure he showcased it often. The man beat Julio Cesar Chavez TWICE by knockout. I don't think it's by mistake that both Canelo and Ryan Garcia have taken the world by storm and are mega stars (esp. Canelo) after working with Oscar.
