A museum, a showroom and the restoration area. I have never seen anything quite like it before or since. Thank you for your open house events, Bruce. I hope they return. G.

I have been to this place a couple of times. I really appreciate that they allow the public to wander through there for free... I really like vintage racing cars and this place is nirvana for that. Bit of a downer also though....there is nothing for sale there that I could ever dream of being able to afford. Canepa's asking prices for all those cars are far more than they would likely bring at auction. But they are his cars, he can price them as he wishes, and I am sure there will always be wealthy people who can pay the asking price for cars of this quality. I will just never be one of them.

John Shaft, I can understand your predicament. Shit, even our factory tour guide at Porsche said owning such an overpriced car was a waste. Couldn’t believe a Porsche employee would or could say such a thing! He has a point, but perhaps not share it on the job! But you COULD end up owning something nice if you put your mind to it. One way would be picking up a job at a place like this. Tell the owner about your dream. Learn some skills they need. Heck, offer to start by sweeping the floors! Hard work and being in the right place at the right time usually creates opportunities. Scout the Internet for a deal. Fix it up yourself. Join a mechanics cooperative, and look to people like “Homebuilt by Jeff” and “Heidi’s and Franny’s Garage” for info and inspiration. Not easy, but it CAN be done!

At $30,000,000.00, you’d think they’d install a full-on fire suppression system. Or at least the insurer would require same. I commented and later remembered a friend working a track day at Thunder Hill. One of his Hooked on Driving techs was conducting pre-track inspections. This young kid spotted a fuel leak in a Ferrari. Very well would have burned to a crisp. The owner was VERY appreciative. Remembering that is only more reason for my idea. Is this idea even practical? If so, used? Great video. I hope to visit Canepa next week with the ‘88 911 needing some love.

I think Bruce Canepa's collection is cooler than Jay's. Jay has some stuff that I really dont care for. They're cool but ehh I'd rather see money go elsewhere. There is only so much steam I could take haha
@dudeonbike8005 жыл бұрын
Echo Company BIG difference between the two. Jay is an enthusiast with money to burn. Jay pays people to caretake his collection. He and Jerry Seinfeld are synonymous. Bruce grew up with cars and racing in his blood. Then made his reputation modifying, building, restoring and racing seriously. He’s THE sport. Jay is a rich dilettante or dabbler. Sure, Jay has knowledge, but he’s an entertainer by profession. Bruce is all car by profession.
