Hats off to Mr. Bruce Meyer, not only for being so patient as he is repeatedly talked-over and interrupted, but also for this glorious collection of iconic machines

Virtually everything Adam said about the P-38 was wrong. A 20 mm cannon is not a tank-buster and the 200 gallon belly tanks were for the Pacific theater.

Great show Adam, just some guys talking about some great machines! Bruce is a great caretaker of these beauties. See you at the Fontana Vintage race soon enough, I'll be there in the little red Elva sports racer with the wheel up high in the twistys...

Adam is a very cool guy with a passion no one can argue but please, let the man who KNOWS speak - these are super special and Mr MEyer considers himself a "custodian" of certain cars. We need more wealthy people to preserve the art made in the

198mph in that SoCal car is insane. I will say though Mercedes did 268mph in 1938, a world record won by driver Rudolf Caracciola. So 198 had been broken.

To think in the early '70s I owned a 190 SL in Germany that I had bought from a returning G. I. for next to nothing. I never could get it running right and the thing was full of Hondo from a cheap repair so I finally sent it to a new home. I certainly kick myself today for doing that.

hearing more tidbits of CarrollShelby in the start of his Career of ProductionCars i know he was one hell of a hard working man but in order to get the things done in those time frames he really needed to be one hell of a BallBuster to Coordinate all the players ,Parts , and ideas to get things done you also need to be pretty smooth to motivate all those things and people without all of them getting so Aggravated and telling you to go,Pound Sand more importantly when the Money hasn’t began Flowing abundantly yet !

13:08 Isn't really a production car other than in appearance. Don't be fooled those things were purpose built race cars that shared very little if anything with a production 911. It's pretty much a full blown tubular space frame race car clothed to look like a 911... They weren't just hoped up cup cars...they were 800+ fire breathing monsters!
@supersevenn8 жыл бұрын
wrong. they are factory 911/ 930 street tub chassis. The only factory 935 space frame was the 935-78 mobydick and did not win in 78', Kremer K4 was also space frame (never raced Lemans) , so was the Joest Moby 935 (finished 3rd in 1982). The rest are factory tub chassis with alum rollcage as this Kremer K3 is.

I met Bruce at the Mecedes-Benz of Beverly Hills Charity Car Show about ten years back. He has got to be one of the nicest guys in the car hobby. Be forewarned though, if you ever try to talk to him at an event, you might get about a minute before someone rushes up and interrupts what you were saying to the man. I get how he is a popular guy at such shows, but it is pretty rude of folks to butt in when you only wanted a minute or two to ask a few questions.

Regarding the Porsche 935 - not that any of our American friends get wrong ideas: The KKK symbol stands for 'Kühnle, Kopp & Kausch', a turbocharger manufacturer in this time.
@dukecraig24025 жыл бұрын
Yes, most of us know that although the thoughts of someone over here misinterpreting that is pretty comical, they're commonly referred to over here as the "Porsche K3" instead of "Porsche KKK" for that reason. Here's one even better then that, the first Buell motorcycles that had inverted front forks had forks that were made in Germany by White Power, on the side of the forks they were marked "White Power, Germany", shortly after they started assembling the bikes with those forks at Buell's production facility a phone call was made to White Power that went something like this, "Uh, guys...", next thing you know the forks were marked "WP, Germany".
