Great to see the yelli back - I bought a first generation one when there was nothing else like this. Then I tried their carbon EPO with more modern geometry - was smitten and bought one immediately, despite the price. Still riding the EPO today, but would be interested to try a new yelli

I took the exact same journey... I loved each bike. The Yelli was a bit small for me as they had run out of larges. But still, the medium (in that Lime Green that they had) was an awesome ride. Don't have either today, but I do miss that Yelli.

Great review! Would you consider putting on a light 120 for like a step cast to get a lighter downcountry ish feel? Or is 130 a great balance.
@hardtailparty2 жыл бұрын
The whole term "downcountry" is just causing more confusion than clarity. This is more of a shredder than a lightweight slack xc bike. While it'd be fine with a 120mm fork, it's still going to be a shredder that wants to go fast on black diamond trails.
@suranko12 жыл бұрын
@@hardtailparty haha yes it is, I see the term as just meaning a bike that is meant to be pedal’d, but still likes to get rowdy. I live in BC and am looking for a hard tail to complement my enduro. Your comment about how this would complement a enduro basically shoved me in the yelli direction. Being a bigger guy I’m thinking the 130 fork would be ideal for all around use and wouldn’t have massive trade offs on the climbing for a smaller travel fork.

I watched this review after finishing my Yelli build. I’ve only taken it out around the block, hopped some curbs and dropped some concrete stairs but you articulated my early thoughts - this thing just wants to “go”. I think some 2.6 tire models with “smaller teeth” might fit in the rear triangle… may try that later in the season. Wheel lateral stiffness may come into play when laying down the watts 🤔

I like this bike but I’m struggling to really like it. I’ve had it for couple months now, I get the BMX fun and playfulness but it’s also a bit on the twitchy side and not as stable as my Titus Fireline (w/150mm fork) understandably. It just doesn’t give me much confidence heading into the rough which makes me think I should’ve sized up from medium to a large (I’m 5’9”). I recently bumped the travel from 130 to 140 and moved the seat all the way back, hopefully I can get this bike feeling good enough to keep 👍

@austinsp00l242 жыл бұрын
When talking about steep seat tubes are you using any sort of position on the bike for where you place the seat front to back? A lot of bike fit guides start the knee over the pedal spindle with the crank at 3 o'clock. I haven't really had the chance to try any the newer bikes but I could imagine short cranks and a steep seat tube changing a lot of the old setup "rules". I know bike sizing and fit is different for every rider but a video how to set up for a modern riding position could be interesting.
@Windband12 жыл бұрын
Most of those "setup rules" are for road bikes IMO. When you're in the saddle for hours at a time it's really important. But for us MTBers who mostly just sit to climb there are other factors that are more important. That's why we're so focused on geo and STA etc. I would be willing to bet that 95% of MTBers have never even thought about whether their knee is over the pedal spindle.
