I had an SC and liked it a lot, but wasn't the best carry option for me. I now carry a Shield Plus and it's very comfortable, but the new micro has certainly got my attention. Thanks, guys.

The Shield Plus is fantastic. It's my EDC. I liked it better than all the other micros I've shot (sig, Springfield, Ruger, Taurus). And I shoot it fairly well, all things considered. I love it.

@@Chrishuncho-nb8un nah Glocks are 20 years beyond in pistol technology, and you have to replace everything on it to get to the point of where all other pistols are out of the box. The ergos are crap, and they are beyond ugly. Reliability and mags being cheap were it's only saving grace but in 2024 you practically have to go out of your way to buy unreliable guns, and magazines for guns over a year old are pretty much everywhere now.

Wow. I thought the TP9 Elite SC would be better, starting with a 3.6" barrel, which I found more favorable regarding ballistics and accuracy than a 3" micro. I just don't like micro guns that much, but maybe the METE MC9 could win my heart. We'll see.

I bought the Elite SC when it first came out. I have the older V2 model from years back and wanted something for conceal carry. I don't like the SC. It's not a bad gun but it just doesn't feel comfortable. I have big hands and it just wants to jump out of my grip every time I shoot it. I have since upgraded to a Steyr C9-A2 MF and I love it.

I love when smaller/thinner guns make you happier than larger ones. Kind of like cheating when it comes to conceal carry. That was how I was with the original Shield. I was one of the few who liked the thin, oval grip and shot it almost as well as my full size M&P. Carrying the Shield Plus these days, but might have to check out this little Canik. I’m nervous. My wife got me a Taurus GX4 a few years back for my birthday. But seeing all these reviews for this Mete MC9, I’m really debating on switching. I no lie never even heard of this until 4 days ago when a coworker was telling me about a different Canik pistol and when I got him I opened KZbin to be blown up by Canik videos. Canik makes a really fine pistol especially when factoring in cost. I would love to see more pistols chambered in 40cal. Not 9mm converted to 40 but an actual gun made for the 40cal round.

Why? 40 is heavier, more expensive to shot and not any more effective than a 9 mm.

@@jlm8246 Well in real world data from ballistic gel tests, the difference between 9mm and .40S&W is greater than the difference between .40S&W and 10mm. .40S&W also is on par with .45ACP in terminal effect while having more capacity, greater velocity, and cheaper ammo.

@@jlm8246 I think you should read more real world performance stats over the KZbin tactitards. People seem to forget that just as 9mm ammo tech has evolved so has 40cal and every other round. A true loaded 40cal outperforms and outweighs 9mm at the same time. Maybe outclassed is the better term thanks for the regurgitated info lol

How I would describe the shooting difference between a G26 and a G43. I do own the TP9 Elite SC and would compare the grip to a slightly bigger 26. Looking forward to the full release of the METE MC9.

Great video and content. I've been wanting to get the TP9 SC Elite for my first Canik, for a very long time. I've hesitated in purchasing it due to the short, blocked grip. I could only get a full grip on the gun using the extended magazine. And the grip circumference felt like a more boxed off version of a glock. I didn't like the idea of re-training myself to break my grip to do reloads for that gun. But i was willing to try. I know the MC9 will probably have the same problem of having a short grip. But I was hoping the new grip module design on the MC9 eliminated that blocky feel of the grip. Again, thanks for the great info

I watched this and tabletop review (thank you!) and am waiting for the 'big' what's-for-dinner shooting breakdown for the MC9. So far you are first English review I have found - GREAT JOB! Was hoping you could confirm a couple things for me from the table top? On the official Canik website on the Product Listing page, it states that the MC9 uses 'Canik Sub-Compact Size Magazine'. You said the 12 rd SC mag with finger rest would NOT seat properly because of the baseplate? Do any of the SC mags seat? 12 round flat, 15 rd, 17 rd? Seems like a BIG problem if they don't. Also, +P ammo? My other Caniks say +P ammo is fine, weird that it does NOT say that in MC9 manual. I feel for a carry/defensive use gun, +P ammo is a MUST, especially out of a shorter barrel. More speed = more expansion. I have a SC with a smattering of 12, 15 and 17 round mags and was super happy to see that those mags would work in the MC9. (At least that is how I read the product listing.) I plan on getting a MC9 on release day or ASAP as long as they are at MSRP. I have a Hellcat OSP and a Tarus GX4 Toro already but plan to move to the Canik MC9 because....CANIK! I love the Caniks but they are chunky fat and I have small hands and prefer the grips of my micro 9s or my Arex Delta L. The MC9 seems like what I have been waiting for. At $400 MSRP with the Canik trigger and Optic Cut - it straight out embarrasses SO many of the other micro 9s! (I am looking at you $520 Ruger MAX-9 with your awful Hi-Point level trigger 'no +P ammo' and 'no dry fire' warnings in the manual!) Ruger should just quit trying to make semi-autos, but all others Micro 9s may need to drop prices by $130 JUST TO BE CLOSE to the better Canik. Hellcat trigger is barely ok, upgraded to APEX trigger, better but still not very good. GX-4 trigger pretty good, just has weak reset. I know the MC9 will be more the size of the Smith Shield Plus and Kimber Mako (another awful trigger) and the 365/Hellcat/GX4 will still be small size champ. Could maybe you give a size comparison to these others? I am very excited for the MC9 but the mag compatibility with the SC AND the +P ammo thing is kind of a bummer for me. I have been holster hunting already and I even have some more 17 round SC mags in a shopping cart... but....

Size comparisons in video are too easy to skew with camera angle of lens focal length. The only truly believable size comparison when you're looking at differences this small is to look at the numbers. As far as running +p ammunition I understand your feelings, but check out this test we did: www.gbgunsdepot.com/post/defensive-pistol-barrel-length-ammo-selection depending on ammunition it may not be as necessary as you think.

Mag compatibility is a big deal. +P ammo is somewhat more of a fetish. Quality ammo (Federal HST for example) will perform more than adequately out of a short barrel. There may be a slight measurable difference between a +P and a standard pressure HST, but it would make zero difference to whatever threat it was being used on.

I'm newer to Pistols I went with a Canik rival for my first one and got a shield plus performance center for carry. Im not sure it's what I want to keep or not. I haven't got to shoot a hellcat,p365, or caniks carry guns. My shield is the 4" barrel but weighs about the same idk if that's a real negative or positive yet. Ideally I could buy like 2 more but money is a thing lol. I got a pretty good deal on the shield plus performance center for $600 with an optic which is like $200-250 less than they try scamming people on lol. None of these comparable carry guns should realistically be a solid $500 and less after tax. There's just not much to them and it's not like top notch material

I just got the TP9SF Elite and the first day shooting it at the range, I heard someone say Canik and I had to talk to them! They had the Mete MC9, so we swapped, my shots were all within 2 inches on the first mag, I was able to shoot it intuitively.

That was a great day at the range I'm sure. I've gone to the field many times to do the fine tuning only to come home with more questions. We hopefully have all done this( mag selections, grain decisions, etc) nice to see a fast and simple solution to a classic vs battle. However guns and accessories are like a Harry Potter short on wand selection, that all mods are only based on personal improvement on a certain day, with a certain round, in a certain mindset

Great video and it does look like the MC9 had less recoil than the Elite SC and it might just be what she said in that she could get more of a grip on it. I don't have big hands so I shoot my Sig P320c, Sig P365, and Glock 42 really well and was actually surprised how well I shot the P365 after getting used to the P320c but I think it is just that, being able to really get a good hold on the smaller guns. I am really looking forward to checking out the Canik Mete MC9.

I was looking at these two at the shop and ended up picking up the sc because it looked concealable enough and I’m all for carrying the biggest you can COMFORTABLY. That said, I’ve carried a g2c for years and the sc seemed similar in size so it gives confidence. I should have at least picked up the mc9 and felt it since the capacity is literally the same.

Yes, because I've been on a continuous journey of finding a carry gun that is right sized for my body to conceal well, that holds more rounds, And is pleasant enough to shoot that I would endure 1000 rds in four days with and I think this is it!

Never been a fan of that lower grip with the support hand. Mine sits pretty high and squeezes the crap outta the frame. That's what works for me as I seem to control the muzzle rise much better with a higher grip doing multiple shots in a row.

Graham, did you find the trigger weights to be discernably different in live fire versus the dry-fire during the tabletop video? I know you had mentioned it did feel a bit heavier of a pull. I cannot imagine that the feel is too drastically different and even if it was it did not seem to hinder either you or Teya's ability to shoot it better than the SC Elite. I am thoroughly impressed and even more intrigued by your commentary regarding the advanced ergonomics of the Mete. I have quite a few hours of range time with the SC as my range buddy has one that I shoot very often, however it is as Teya said a bit of a chubby and blocky rascal with a bit of somewhat cumbersome heft. Not that it is terrible but enough that it wasn't my first choice for carry.

As you know, I'm largely trigger-blind unless it's over 12 or under 3 pounds. When we filmed this demo I didn't feel one was particularly lighter or heavier than the other. We also shot a few other pistols that day and still it didn't stand out as too light or heavy for carry.

I put an extend barrel on my SC ( 4.2 treaded) as my pistol is used as a Woods Gun too. I have larger hands and Mirco Guns get lossed in my hands. The SC is perfect for me. I bought the METE SFT and for reason didn't like it. It is on consignment lol. My ( V2) can do everything the METE SFT can and at half the cost. I hope Canik doesn't get too gimmicky driven. Glock ( my EDC) has kept their pistol lines pretty simple an effective. Maybe the price of the SC's will dip with the New attention on the MC9. Might be a great time to pickup another SC at a cheaper price. Semper Fi

@@GBGuns I agree with you. I have a living Tp9 elite s weapon. I think it makes Turkish guns the best quality guns. In Turkey, glock 19 gen 4, gen 5 = 4,000-5,000 dollars. I'm telling the truth. Canik Tp9 elite 300 dollars in Turkey. People dream of glock in Turkey. That's a ridiculous price and fantasy. We love the Glock system safe action. It is unshakable and stoeger, but it is very poor quality in my opinion. I wish canik would produce safe action weapons.I want canık safe action,.

I was wondering about the mc9, vs the elite sc, vs the mete sf. Not the sft or sfx, I think the mete sf has a 4.1 or 4.2 inch barrel and a flush fit 15 round magazine. The elite sc has 15 round as well but it’s not flush with the grip.

The only reason we did the SC to MC is because a lot of people (myself included originally) think the MC is just a reboot of the SC when in reality there are quite a few differences.

Both are good, l think the Mete is easier to conceal and still accurate despite having a smaller barrel. However the tp 9 c is feels more comfortable to shoot being a bit heavier. But both are great guns in my opinion you can’t go wrong with either.

How much smaller does it actually feel though? On camera they look so similar. I’ve got the SC now but being a smaller person it’s harder to carry with most outfits. Was just going to get a 365, but being a Canik fanboy this goes to the top of the list

The newer shape from the METE line really fits the hand better, more naturally. On paper it's not a lot smaller, but in the hand it fits better.

I love using Handgun Hero to check size comparisons! The Mete is the same size as the Ruger Max 9 where as the SC is about 1/2" shorter than the M&P Shield Plus 4" (I'm considering a swap because I loved my TP9 SF Elite but can't conceal that)

Mr. Graham, (please guide me) l’m new to your channel and already a big fan of yours. I hope you see my comment and reply to it because I have a quick question (or anyone that has experience with what I’m about to explain). So for a very long time I’ve been wanting to buy a gun for carry and home defense. I finally bought a house where I can put my future gun in a safe place. But I’ve been trying to get a lot of knowledge off of people on KZbin and friends. I finally have the full approval from my wife to purchase a gun this year 😂. One thing she did say is she wants to be able to shoot and carry this gun as well. Reason being because she works late at a hospital in downtown, where her shift can end at 11:30PM or 3AM or 7:30AM sometimes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. There’s been numerous of times where she’s felt really unsafe on her walk to her car and has made me very worried as well. Some of those times even being escorted by 1 or 2 security’s. Because of special guidelines she would have to keep this gun in the car. This is where I have my question, she is a very petite woman and I don’t ever see her shooting a Glock or anything like that 🤣. Seeing how the lady handle this gun I was fully convinced that this could be a very good first time shooter gun for my wife. My only concern is, I’ve always debated if she should have a 9mm or a 22 as a first time shooter experience. Do you think this canik will be fine for a first time shooter? The 22 I’ve always wanted to get and think would be good for her to warm up in is a Smith & Wesson M&P compact 22. I’ve tried to ask this question about a 9mm or 22 for a first time shooter but no one ever reply’s. I would appreciate if you or anyone reading this could help me. Thank you

There are arguments on both sides of which caliber should be first. Regardless of what you get the important thing is to get you and her training. As far asguns to learn on, believe it or not bigger guns (of same caliber) are easier and more comfortable to shoot than smaller ones. Teya makes it look easy, but she's also had A LOT of professional training (see our bios on the channel "about" tab). If budget is a concern this may be your do-all gun, but generally small guns are a compromise in shootability in the name of being easier to conceal. A full answer is much longer than this, but I hope this gives you some direction.

I have a METE SFT and I’m not gonna lie I don’t like how it grips, I’m a 6ft male but I don’t have the largest hands to maybe someone else may favor it but something feels weird about it, looks like I’m getting myself an mete MC9

This insight does absolutely help. Thank You. I would have absolutely incorrectly assumed that the old but larger TP9SC would have been the better shooter. That's not something I think I would have picked up on at the counter. That's impressive they managed to make their smaller gun an even better shooter. Interesting. I have an SC and medium sized hands and I would say it fits like a glove. Now I’m not saying the MC9 wouldn’t fit even better, but I think people need to be aware that of course KZbinrs are going to say the next Gen feels better….even if it may be VERY similar or possibly not even better…. Just something to think about folks.

That's one of the reasons we have two shooters with two different hand sizes. In the tabletop video you can see closer up how the shape is different. It'll be great for some, maybe not for others.

Awesome ... Grand Power XCal in real good price now. Love those guns. Have been looking for long time for the K100 D ...to carry can’t find one . Will have to set for K 100 gen 2 or the K100 xtream ... is beautiful. Canik Rival cough my attention for the price and quality but already have WALTHER PDP 5 inches in that area and Springfield Elite 5.25 only non WALTHER gun for long range shoots that work for me . Okay. Went to the range with my new MC9. Twice the slide didn't lock back on the last round. Several FTE's. Both of these I blame the ammo as when I switched ammo brands the issues went away. GUN is more accurate than I am for sure. NOW for the part everyone talks about. The MAGAZINES not dropping out. When I started they were fine. After 50 rounds they started to hang up so I had the Range master come over and watch me handle the gun. There are three things we found. The mag release hangs up on the mag and is possibly a weak mag release spring or too stiff of a mag release spring. You could see it stick. ODD. When holding it normal and applying pressure on the grip it would not drop. Squeeze it too tight and it would at times not move at all. Loaded or Empty mag. NOW for the shocker. If you reach over the top of the slide and squeeze the mag release the mags would fly out without sticking. That was my experience. Let me know what y'all have found. I did contact Canik and waiting for them to contact me. .

We haven't experienced anything like that. Sounds like the release could be poorly finished or maybe the grip is flexing just wrong in your hand? Sorry I don't have a solution. Canik should take care of you though.

@@GBGuns Yeah, I'm just letting people who are talking about it know what I found. Odd that holding a normal grip keeps them from dropping. I can reach over the slide and squeeze the release and it flies out. BUT it is very accurate and very little recoil for me.

Our experience in regard to recoil was similar. Although perhaps slightly bigger and heavier than most "micro compacts" I think this size is a great compromise between concealability and shooting comfort. That's of course a completely personal assessment, but when guns go smaller or lighter than this they're tougher for my large hands to manage.

Because we aim at small targets. You may have noticed this isn't one of those channels with a wall of full size steel to randomly throw rounds at and then call a gun "accurate"

Is the Mete Mc9 snappy or does that back-strap help with that? I’m really weighing between the two. Comfortability and concealment with the MC9. Or Smooth shooting but bulky grip and slight bulge with concealment… choices choices.
