This will be my first gun purchase ever. I spent DOZENS of hours researching everything from cheap to luxury and after factoring the price quality upgrades [optics, light] and decent ammo (and I mean A LOT) plus other common accessories, the METE SFT is my pick. I primarily got into guns for self defense and want 1 gun that does it all. I first looked at sub 4 inch barrels for the odd occasion II might want to conceal carry but it just wasnt big enough for a night stand pistol. I also liked the rival SFx but with an 8in+ barrel I am not large enough to conceal carry that beast. The SFT can be both home defense and conceal carry when needed. I literally don't need anything else!

I just got back from taking a 4 day handgun course at Front Sight with my new Canik Mete, it preformed awesome! Over 600 rounds and not one failure. I shot it much better than any pistol I've shot to date. The trigger is awesome, super fast reset and light. They almost didn't let me shoot it because they thought the trigger had been modified, apparently they don't allow triggers under 4#, mine was 4# 1.5 oz. Awesome pistol, seems very well balanced, super happy with my purchase.

Mine measured on average 3-3/4# out of the box. Couldn't believe it myself! My Gen 5 Glock measures around 5#. Doesn't matter "so much" except for the crisp break on the Canik

I am really impressed with the upgrades that Canik did on an already good quality product. If you are not currently improving your product your competitor is busy working on coming out with something to replace yours. So they came out with an improved mag well with an additional aluminum mag well guide, double undercut, shorten the trigger pull, and reduced the slide weight. In the mean time CZ, Glock, H&K, and FN have done nothing to little to improve their latest designs, while Walther and Canik have upped their game. Kudos to Canik for continuing to deliver value/performance on a product that is not that old.

I purchased the Canik Mete SFX a couple of weeks ago. I was so impressed with it, I immediately purchased it's little brother(Canik Mete SFT). They easily shoot as well as my Sig p226 Legion SAO. The Sig cost more than the two Caniks COMBINED. That's insane value for the Caniks.

I've had some stove-piping shooting 115-grain rounds - have you guys experienced that? Also, my extended magazine fits a little loose. Other that than, my Mete SFX shoot unbelievably good.

Thanks for the videos! I have owned a Mete SFX for 4 months now and have put about 2,000 rounds through it with various ammunition. Have not oiled or cleaned this beast yet and it has performed flawlessly! Not one single hang'up, stove pipe, or anything other quirky failure adjectives of any kind. Highly HIGHLY recommend the Mete!! My wife loves it so much that now it is... well... now it's my wife's Mete.... But, that just means I can now go and buy the Mete SFT... Yay'ha for me! I really look forward to see what Canik has up their Turkish sleeves next! I would love to see a Sub or Micro version of the Mete series to compete with Sig P365, Hellcat, etc... Keep on making vids brotha!!

There's the gun to gun variance but these have the same trigger system as pretty much anything post - SA mod (decocker SA only variant) - so the SF, SFX, etc all use the same silky smooth NiB coated internals. I don't know about the Salient enhanced elite models though. What is definitely better is the grip module, though a few beers worth of courage and a Dremel could essentially make the same improvements if you've ever undercut a Glock.

You can actually mount the Holosun 507k on the Canik with some modifications to the plastic mounting plate. Using a Dremel or file, you shorten two of the recoil bosses and remove the other two to correspond with the holes on the bottom of the optic. I’ve done this with my SC and couldn’t be happier.

I got one about 5 weeks ago. My second canik, my first is a tp9sfx. I put a riton mirco red dot on it and a freedomsmith zombie pro trigger. So far I've put 400 rounds through it with zero problems. It's turned into my edc. GREAT HANDGUN!

I like watching your channel, David. You do fair and good reviews, in my humble opinion. I've been taking shooting seriously since the scaredemic started (what good timing I have!) so I'm not the best person to make comparisons. But, I bought my TP9SFX last year and I love it. I am going to rely on Canik's systems since the TP9 series all use the same mags. Although it is disappointing to hear the SFT will not have a regular RMR foot print. My Vulcan Holosun is awesome. I think all pistol red dots should have a 100 MOA ring.

OK, Canik has got to owe you big time by now! I bought an SFX and use it as my back up CO pistol. Installed a Freedomsmith Pro and oh man is that trigger good. Almost no take up with the same snap. With (RMRcc) optic I’m in under $1K. Appreciate the honest review on this one… I’ve had zero issues with this gun and I’m just over a thousand rounds.

I own 2 caniks, this one is going to be my 3rd. I had it on order at my local gun store. Got the call its in, can't wait to pick it up!!!!! If you are one of these people. I'm not buying it cause it's made in turkey, instead of American made. That's your opinion and your option, and also your LOSS!!!!! They are amazing guns at a great price. If this was a sig, or s&w, or whatever manufacturers name you want in this slot. You would be paying over a thousand dollars for it. Other than the cz line witch I'm a huge fan of. Great review! Just picked this up from my local gun shop a week ago. $530 for the SFX. Out shoots my Glock 34 and Walther PDP 5in right out of the box. Absolutely phenomenal firearm. I thought my Walther trigger was amazing until I shot my METE. Only put around 300 rounds through it but not a single issue thus far. By far the best bang for your buck.

@ComeOnPelican91 as of right now, I am not Comfortable with having it on my hip every day. I still choose my Walther or Glock because of the track record they have. Canik has come a long way with their quality control and once I get to 1000 rounds with no issues I’ll feel comfortable with choosing my SFX in my EDC rotation. I’m only at around 600 rounds right now. Happy to report not a single issue and I’ve been shooting steel cased with no issues on top of it. Kind of surprised with the weight of the slide tbh. My Walther has hickups with steel cased.

My only issue with my SFX is I can’t use my Trijicon RMR and have to use a RMRcc instead… Unless someone figured out a way I don’t know about yet. But I’ve been eyeballing the RMRcc for a bit and pulled the trigger on one for $450… So other than it looking weird with such a small optic on a huge firearm, I’m pleased.

Thanks for the great review, but a question: In your review of the gun, one of the two negatives is that it would not accept HoloSun optics. But in your link "Canik Mete Series-Top Five Optics choices", you mentioned the Holo 407K-X2 and 507K-X2 as viable choices. Clarification please? I may have misinterpreted. I have both tp9sfx first really accurate, awesome trigger, great feel, so impressive I had to get mete , both are 5 and quarter barrel, for me there is no difference between them they feel the same, and shoot exactly alike for me , my 2 favorite range guns, and i have many of the major brands, these are those most accurate, only hiccup, they don't feed 115 grain well, but the 124 grain they feed flawless.

i have 3 caniks & i love them. my only complaint on the mete would be that you can only use the micro red dots. while they are great for edc, in my opinion, the window on the micro red dots are too small for a duty size pistol. awesome review. i always look forward to your opinion on the latest & greatest guns.

If you upgrade a rival, rival s, or TTI trigger (most won’t but I’m a tinkerer), the flat trigger fits the SFT and takes away the wary lag.

Great review! Back a few months ago when I saw this was out I couldn't find one in stock. I pretty much forgot about it because I wasn't going out in below zero weather to shoot anyhow. One day this week I decided to do some looking again and the place I wanted to buy it was out of stock. I did some more looking and found it for $383. I was really surprised to find it that cheap. I ordered it and it will be at my FFL Monday and he lives one block down the street from me. My carry gun has always been a .40. This is the first time a YT video has made me go out and buy a gun. I just wanted a reliable HD pistol at a good price--I paid $440 shipped for the METE SFT. If I had my way, CANIK would get rid of the chamber indicator on top and the striker indicator on the back (just useless to me, and parts to screw up or a place for crap to get in), and use different sights (black rear, slimmer front). I get mine on Wednesday, but I think I'd like a bit stronger wall on the trigger--though I do like a light break (I hope to get this one down to 3.25-3.5lbs).

@@0dayExploit it quit running completely in cold, failure to feed, failure to extract, failure to eject. Didn't want to run anything but +P. Replaced springs, tried to run dry, tried to run with Cold weather optimized oil. It just didn't want to run without +P. I live north of the Arctic Circle so I have sub freezing but over half a year. I can't live with a gun that sizes up in Cold. Sad really, I loved the trigger EDIT: my buddies has light strikes too, but I don't Know if they tried to remedy it in any ways. And personally I didn't have that problem at all.

I bought me a Canik METE SFT. It is truly an improved version of the TP9 SF (which I have). I looove the METE! It lived up to my own expectations. It is outssstanding!!! By the way, Canik is pronounced CANIK in English, we don't speak Turkish. In fact, we don't call the country Türkiye in Turkish pronouncing it "Turkeeyee." People just want to sound sophisticated telling you is pronounced "Jaenick!!!" 😎 Screw them. Last, but not least, it is horrific how social media moguls are controlling freedom of speech and expression, while injecting a one-sided political anti-gun agenda, with the ill purpose of eliminating all gun content in social media platforms. People are not paying much attention, but the progressive movement is about restricting everything that does not fit their own thinking, views and agenda. One day we will wake up to all gun channel creators gone! And it will be too late.

I have the Canik SFT and it is the same size as my favorite gun, the CZ P 07. I really like this size of pistol to shoot for a striker fired gun!

10:40, some holsters are meant to be used to store your pistol! Not for quick draw, not for concealed duty carry. You can holster your pistol as you walk down to your target. If nothing else, it will serve you until get a better high-speed holster to use as you walk down to check your targets at the range.

I own the Elite SC, has been pressed into a home gun. For EDC I have PPS, and seems like it will be co-opted by my wife. SC will become my EDC when the holster comes in, and I have been debating on either PDP or the Mete for my home weapon and battle belt gun. Love my Canik and my Walther, but I think I am going to get the PDP, because of wanting a full size optic and not a micro. Currently I am saving for the Swampfox Sentinel for the SC, but I think on a full size gun I really do want a full size optic, I would not be trying to conceal it.

The Holosun 407K V2 mounts easily in less than 10 minutes, but two rear posts on the Shield plate need to be filed down since the optic only has recesses for the front two. There is a specific youtube video showing how easy it is.

Crazy how you mentioned that you can’t use full sized Holosun optics on this gun in this review, but then Holosun came out with the EPS which is full sized with the micro footprint. Wild how canik was kinda ahead of the curve on that

The ink isn't even dry on my Extar ep9 purchase and I'm already eyeing this. I was looking at the tp9sfx but that was oddly too long of a barrel (the thing that attracted me in the first place) but this felt 10 kinds of right in my hands. Another great review, subbed (thought I was already...hm)

You could pronounce it Susan for all I care. If it works and is accurate and reliable I don’t much give a crap about its name. I bought this pistol about a week ago. First Canik I’ve ever owned. I’ve always dismissed them as a budget low end pistol. I got it on a whim and I am impressed. I also scored 3 extra factory mags which I’m told are hard to find. The trigger is pretty spectacular.
