As a huge dog guy, it went great. She could not really hear you but she was watching your body language and had confidence in you and your confidence did not waiver so she had confidence; therefore, she stayed in the position you placed her in. She has been with you a while. Pilot wise, you protected the cyclic which is the main item. I love your post. Grant says Hi.

In my state some of the state police officers do K9 and fly in the airwing. They trained the dogs to fly in the choppers with them.

I never took my dog up in the helicopter, just fixed wing but one thing you might want to consider is getting a grippy mat to put on the seat. I used the mats that they use under area rugs to keep them from sliding. They are soft enough to be comfortable to her but they also won't slide around on those seats.

An old saying goes that a dog is the perfect co-pilot, it just needs to be trained to snap at the pilot whenever the pilot tries to touch the controls. Too bad it only works in fixed-wing aircraft.

Mover, my condolences to you ... Sniper's crossing over. He hung in there for a long time because of his love for you. First off my deepest condolences for the lost of the family member Sniper 😢💔, now for my opinion I'm agreeing with your first assignment and intuition Luna she needs to be just a backseat pup. It's a lot safer for both of you this way. I love seeing her up there and seeing her reaction is very cool but i can tell from her overall body language while she liked it she still just wanted to lay down.

Luna experiencing some anxiety. Her heavy panting indicates her being uncomfortable. She can be trained to fly with ease. Beautiful dog. I'm surprised she didn't have any accidents in the seat.🙄 Great video.

The heavy panting was more likely because it was hot. She eventually cooled off, but it was 85 degrees with near 100% humidity. That's why she kept leaning toward the AC vent in the middle.

Zeke was in a small kennel crate on a tail rack on my GS. He loved it. He'd do figure 8's behind the bike as I was lashing on the kennel crate and getting his jacket ready. Classic. He'd lay down in his kennel crate, looking out the back. Must have been quite the site to all the Harleys we'd pass on the mountain roads. Luna might be happy in her kennel crate in the back seat. Just have cool stuff at the waypoints. Stuff for her to see. Friends to greet. Chips are always good - Fritos or Cheetos. Please keep us posted on her progress.

Good dog. In training it’s called building duration, a step at a time. At the end she recognized home. She seems plugged in to the journey. Very nice.

Luna did well for her first time up front. In the back, her visibility is much less, so I'm sure to her it's pretty much the same as a car ride. Up front, however, she has much better visibility both out front, but more importantly, down through the floor, so the sensation of leaving the ground and going up is more exaggerated. She seemed to calm down considerably once your took off and were flying. Any landing you walk away from is a good one. 😊

Luna Belle did great with her first front seat ride, @CWLemoine! I do think though that maybe a couple more rides in the backseat might be advised until she gets used to the movement on takeoff so she doesn’t accidentally hit the collective. Her outside scan for traffic and birds does look pretty on point. Her bouncing ear tips are just so stinking cute.

I think it would take a few more times to really know. Once she realizes nothing bad is going to happen to her she will likely calm down and be excited to go. One can only imagine how a dog processes the view from a helicopter. A lot for her to figure out. The fact she didn't get sick or have an accident shows that she is tough cookie.

What's amazing to me is that she was TERRIBLE with car rides as a puppy. Pooped and/or peed every single time. Now she's an adventure girl. Loves riding. Up for anything.

I think she did great, but I do feel that if riding up front, that the seat pad is a little small. With a little more room, I think she's have settled into a curled position where she could still have her head up to look around. Of course she's pick a position where her tail rested on the collective, just to remind you she was there. More generally though I'd have to say that the back seat would probably be best, space to get comfortable for Luna, and less visual distraction for you.

My jack russell would have killed us trying to hop over in my lap every couple of minutes. Luna on the other hand did very well after she got up in the air. Backseat is probably the safest though.

My two pennies to the front seat "experiment". If you want to keep Luna in the front and make it more comfortable for her, maybe you can use a box (that has the same hight as the seat) which you put in front of the seat and strap it in (in the leg space area. So the available seat"surface" becomes bigger/extends foreward.). Don't know if this would restrict the cyclic movements. Maybe it would be better for her comfort and safety reasons to have her in the backseat though.

You need to take her where she can get some treats. Maybe meet other dog friends. Gotta be some fun stuff at the places you fly to. Dogs like to "go," but it definitely helps if there's really cool dog stuff along the way. I used to take Zeke the Motodog on my R1150GS to various BMW rallies. Zeke got to meet his friends, sit up for chips at our campsites, and meet other dogs sometimes (Zeke would want to either f**K or fight, whenever he met up with other dogs). Like having a .45 in your back pocket...

Reminds me of when I was working on my private pilot's license at the Lake Front Airport back in the 90's. One good memory was taxiing to hold short of 27 in the 152. The Air Guard had a Blackhawk air taxiing at the same time. I had to have full aileron so I didn't flip. I have my first solo on my channel. Flew N46987.

I would say she's a little confused, perhaps a little concerned, but she doesn't look distressed. I would suspect she'll get accustomed to it readily if she gets consistent exposure. What I would've done is get someone to fly you around while you sit with her in the front, that way you can reassure her while she gets used to it. Then move on to having her sit beside you.

She did great! I fly CLT-SFO all the time with work and my dog (in pic) comes with me all the time at first because it was less than a pet sitter, but he enjoys it. He’s great and what I noticed (at altitude / pressurized cabin) is he instinctively swallows to adjust his ears to pressure changes. Basically the opposite of what kids do when flying. Feed him some ice to lick on to keep him hydrated too. He’s not a fan of landing so much, but by then the flight is over. Sorry about Sniper 😞

Kinda seems like she was uncomfortable with the movement at first, but got over it. She couldn't get comfortable though. Didn't like the seat. Moving her paws around adjusting the whole time. If you could strap something longer and rigid to the seat so she has more space I think she'd do better. P.S. she loves her dad.
