There are Several Canna Viruses, the main three are:
Canna Yellow Mottle Virus (CaYMV) - affects only Cannas
Canna Yellow Streak Virus (CaYSV) - Affects only Cannas
Bean Yellow Mosaic Virus (BYMV) - affects cannas, beans, peas, freesias and gladioli
The virus is spread by Aphids, Nematodes, Propagation and Sharing, Cross contamination with unclean tools.
Canna Virus can be prevented by:
Buying Healthy Plants.
Do not propagate from infected plants.
Use Clean Tools.
Remove and Destroy Infected Plants

I feel your pain with this. I have had canna virus in Musifolia before also. In fact it took my whole batch, which I had nurtured over several seasons too. I have also had it in Canna Pretoria and possibly Durban too. All destroyed as you did in this video. The most hardy varieties that I have had for a number of years now are 'Russian Red' and 'Wyoming'.
