I now have one and in the winter will put it in a small pot and in the greenhouse wrapped in bobbly wrap and very little watering then it’s fingers crossed

I too lost a beauty in the garage and it wasn't that cold here. Must have been too damp in the pot. Soul destroying. They are beautiful though. Sticking to the Hardy ones now but the wind shreds them. I did have 3 in the ground, ( Red ), my first ones but being a novice I did not protect them properly and they all perished.🪴 good luck with leaving them in the ground.
