I'm also from Canada but I dont support the legalization of recreational marijuana. In my opinion, it is quite easy to get your hands onto, a few kids in my high school consume it everyday. This also applies for vape. Looking at weed and vape being addictive and its common in schools and adolescents. I feel that it should remain criminalized as it will be easier to control and its wont be easy for kids to get their hands onto.

For example, the Gympie Gympie is an Australian plant that causes agonising pain, that can drive sufferers to killing themselves. My favourite example of Gympie Gympie plants causing havoc is this guy who used the leaves as toilet paper, he eventually shot himself. Lesson here: plants can kill you, they are not safe. Cannabis can be used as medication if used responsibly, it's not as bad as alcohol but much the same it's a drug just as much as alcohol is. The problem would be psychological dependency not a physical reaction like from a chemical dependency.
@thechair837 ай бұрын
Yes but arsenic is a plant that would kill someone if they stumbled across it, and cannabis is a plant that has never killed anyone. Its uses in medicine date back 1000+ years, and it has been proven to be a help with so many things. When people say that 'it's just a plant' , they're making the point that alcohol for example is literally a poisonous chemical that like with coke, pills and tabs of acid, have to go through a long chemical process to be made. Whereas cannabis is found in the wild and taken as it is without chemical interference. All of these drugs kill hundreds of thousands of people every year and cannabis has never killed anyone! You can get prescribed Morphine, a pack of paracetamol is very dangerous for you, and yet weed is this terrible thing? I think not. The point people are making when they say that is that most people do things every day that are WAY more harmful than weed is.

I smoke a joint maybe 3 times per year and what I have noticed is that cannabis should NEVER be smoked when feeling down. For me, it really amplifies my mood and when I am upset or bummed it turns into a depressing cry-fest. I now only use it when I'm with a small group of people I trust and when I feel up to it.
@henrijs14995 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's how psychedelic drugs work. The stronger the drug, the more it will amplify your emotions. That's how you get a bad trip when taking acid. If you want to take drugs, be smart about it.
@degumanrc81735 жыл бұрын
yes same for me! I really never smoke when I'm feeling down because it only gets worse. Even if I smoke a joint a week, rarely alone( because then I start being depressed when I'm high), I really never had any bad experiences with weed! Nevertheless, enjoying your time with weed and friends is priceless!
@thechair837 ай бұрын
You say it should never be smoked while feeling down, but that is an oversimplification. Cannabis has a massive dependence on genetics which is why some people get paranoid and I never have. I was a massive depressive and insomniac for years before trying cannabis and it has actually brought me out of it a bit, which it is also medically proven to do. As X said in his video nothing can solve your problems, that has to come from within, however it has improved the quality of my life substantially. I've never heard of anyone say it enhances whatever mood your in, that is a description for alcohol more than anything. Usually the case is you'll get paranoid or you don't. The only point I'm making here is that if you were angry and took a puff on a joint you wouldn't be more angry. As I say, it sounds like it doesn't work for you which is fair enough, but to say you should NEVER do something when there are a vast amount of people (myself included) that have witnessed the benefits of cannabis first hand, it is a very simple statement for something altogether more complex

This video made me cry because I can't imagine it. It sounds so horrible and in a weird way it makes me feel guilty for not having the same negative experience. personally i think weed is pretty similar to alcohol, and in canada where i live the laws seem to reflect that. both can definitely cause a lot of issues and can have very serious negative effects, but when used responsibly it’s not unhealthy. anyway, my thoughts aside - thank you for talking about your past x. you’re doing a lot of good for others by speaking out about these things and showing people that it does get better and that they aren’t alone in what they’re experiencing, so from myself and on the behalf of everyone else you’re helping, thank you. what you’re doing is amazing.
@thechair837 ай бұрын
Alcohol is significantly more dangerous than weed by a considerable amount! Both can have negatives, absolutely, but the amount of negatives for alcohol is significantly higher than the negatives of weed, and there are no medical benefits to alcohol, but there are many benefits to cannabis. Also alcohol kills 100,000+ people every year but weed has never killed anyone. If you ingest edibles rather than smoke it there are actually no negative effects on your body, you obviously have to look out for your mind but if you don't get paranoid, the likelihood of you experiencing the negatives of weed are significantly less. Also the lack of people talking about alcohols effects on the brain is crazy, it can mess your head up really bad, as well as your body. When comparing weed to alcohol from that perspective there really isn't much contest which is worse
@samuelmelcher4 жыл бұрын
A parallel if slightly different perspective: I also went through a period of heavily using cannabis to cope (in my case with bipolar depression), and looking back while the pot made me feel better in the moment, I think it was over all making things worse. I stopped using for a while, got my life together in other ways, and since then I’ve been able to return to it in moderation (i.e. about once or twice a month). Biggest change I’ve made besides frequency: THC content. The stuff I used to use was super high THC, and in retrospect it was a much less pleasant experience than the stuff with a THC/CBD balance. The more mild stuff is over all more relaxing which is honestly what I’m looking for. Getting high off my ass was fun in its own way, but definitely not worth the negative side effects. These days if I want to get high I take a smaller amount of the milder stuff and just chill.

It's amazing to hear someone be so brave as to talk about the negative things in their life instead of keeping it all bottled up inside. You are truly an inspiration to me because I am prone to self harm to keep my mind off of anger to basically restrain myself from psychologically harming someone because of them just making me angry at a low point. It's like going insane as I call it. It's like a safety blanket, that if you don't think about it, it's hard to breathe. When I'm near someone who has made me angry at a low point, and I can't keep my mind off of them, I try to ignore them but when I do, it's mentally and physically exhausting.

A journalist from my country (New Zealand) made a fantastic 2 part documentary called Patrick Gower: On Weed. He explored whats really going on in NZ where it's illegal as opposed to places in the US where it's been legalised. He also goes over medicinal and recreational. New Zealand is currently about to have a referendum on legalising because if policies are judged solely on their outcomes, the so-called 'war on drugs' is the biggest pro-drug movement in history. It's amazing how many politicians can't seem to understand the evidence behind it. When it's legalised it's much easier to regulate, just like alcohol. We've also had debates around drug testing at festivals where people should be able to get any substances tested to know for sure whether it is what you think it is. Plenty of politicians think it will be endorsing drug use. The evidence is that people will do it anyway, but when testing is available, it's used and most people who find out it's not what they thought will choose not to take it. The testers also make it clear that they do not recommend using them at all.

I am Pro-Cannabis myself and the way you went about making this video is so personally honest and I love it. I feel like this gives people more points of view to make their own choices instead of following what others are doing. The example you were saying how mentally it kept you from doing other drugs because you felt like it was safe/just a plant also really interested me because I always used that point but flipped the other way; I say to people calling it a gateway drug makes it a gateway drug because people that try Cannabis might feel that this "isn't that bad" how bad can other drugs hurt if they said Cannabis was this bad when seemingly it isn't.

my mother uses it as mediaction, prescribed by a doctor. What she takes is medical grade and clean. She has a variety of health problems and it's pretty much the only thing that effectively calms her down and helps her to get rest, so I am very used to seeing it around and to the smell. I've talked with a pharmacist who specializes in the drug before as research for one of my classes and I expected him to be pro legalization or even just to speak somewhat highly of it, but when I asked him about the cons he pretty much gave me double the amount as with the pros. In my life I've only seen it as helpful medication as luckily I have no friends that struggle with drug abuse and the part of my family that has issues with that lives halfway across the country, so I am glad you shared your experiences so I can see that side of it as well.
@thechair837 ай бұрын
I have spoken with a scientist who is specialised in medical cannabis and is extremely high up in the field, and they could not be more different than the doctor you described, I suppose it just depends who you talk to. However ,the person I spoke with told me all sorts of invaluable information like for example THC is actually one of the best anti inflammatories in the world and one of the reasons it struggles to be legalised in certain places is because pharmaceutical companies will lose an unfathomable amount of money as cannabis is a better, safer alternative to a lot of pharmaceuticals on the market. From everything I’ve read, cannabis has a significant number of positives and only a few negatives that only show themselves if you abuse the drug and it doesn’t agree with you genetically (IE if you don’t get paranoid you are far less likely to experience the negatives). As for X’s story about the dodgy weed he got, that isn’t indicative of UK weed culture, to be honest I find it highly unlikely (not saying it’s untrue just that he would have to have met some evil people). I know many people that have grown and have never heard anything even close to that in my life. It’s a herb at the end of the day, there is no need to supplement it with anything. It sounds like it is working for your mum which is a great thing. As someone who has been on some pretty heavy prescription drugs myself I can say with certainty that a lot of those are way more harmful than weed is! You should ask that same doctor about the negative effects of alcohol, codeine, or antidepressants, even paracetamol and see what he says as those things are all more harmful than weed is 😂 I’m glad it’s working for your mum, the amount of research to show it’s benefits for so many things is incredible, cancer, ALS, Parkinson’s disease, Arthritis just to name a few. The amount of anecdotal evidence to suggest it is extremely helpful to autistic people is staggering as well. The sad thing about weed is that, more than most things, 90% of what you read is baseless misinformation so when real fact comes along it is lost in the sea of people vilifying it for no good reason other than the propaganda that was spread around in the 1960s. I have spoken with many doctors and psychiatrists about my use of it and it is crazy how many of them are still caught up in the propaganda of reefer madness, and when I actually spoke with them about this I realised that I actually knew more about the drug than they do 😂 (provided I am in the UK and we haven’t quite caught up yet)

@@thechair83 cannabis has been partially legalized where I am since I left that comment! As I am an adult I'm now allowed to own 3 plants for personal use. At first I thought about getting one as a joke, but it might be worth it to try out the effect THC could have on me since I am autistic. My mother also takes medications that are usually given to people suffering from Parkinson's disease and cannabis is by far one of the most effective meds in comparison. It's pretty incredible that a singular plant can treat that many things! The pharmacist I interviewed back then mainly listed the issues with transport, the legal complications that would follow the legalisation and then all the health risks for people who are likely to suffer from addiction or who don't react to it well. One personal experience I made was when I was in hospital and the patient I shared the room with was a woman who had consumed cannabis and got stuck with some of the side effects. In comparison, that is the only bad story (apart from Xisuma's in this video here) I've heard in connection with cannabis. I'm also glad it's working for you! There's a lot of research going on and I really hope that in the future even more countries will allow their citizens to legally and safely take advantage of cannabis for medical or personal reasons.

Still regret it, but some of the most memorable moments were enhanced by weed, and made them so much better. Mostly while I was on my own somewhere, I didn't like smoking it together with friends as I would become very silent and anxious, or just tired or overly excited

Don't be afraid of making mistakes in life be afraid of not learning from them. X well-done, let's hope with more people like you we can stop with the culture of peoples past being used to destroy them and let them show the world making a mistake isn't the end. that doesn't mean you are allowed to make mistakes just because you can.

I dont like how a lot of idols of the youth, musicians like miley cyrus, post malone etc, promote cannabis and play down its harmful effects. I had good and bad experiences with cannabis, i use it like once in two months and only when friends invite me to do it. Once i got a bit paranoid and shut myself in a room, but usually i dont have much of a effect. I just tend to be more open and i have fun easier, like dancing and stuff. I remember when we walked home for an hour running and jumping down the street with music and it was such great fun, with only alcohol we wouldnt had that much fun doing that i think, hard to explain, but my best experience with cannabis :D The best thing would be to have it legalised and supervised by an authority to decriminalise it. (My opinion)

It's not just new artists, The Beatles did LSD and other drugs, many reggae and ska musicias did cannabis. the problem is modern musicains glorifying it in pretty much every song wheras the beatles only had 2 or 3 songs about drugs.

Thanks for sharing your experience, it's very courageous of you. Just one thing: I wouldn't believe that story about cutting weed with glass, that sounds a bit odd to me... Are you sure that what you were seeing weren't just trichomes? If you google images of buds you can see these tiny white/sparkling things that seem like crystals, and if you're paranoid enough you can end up thinking they're glass shards, perhaps... But that's just my idea.
@adrian_zombturtle1485 жыл бұрын
I believe him but he doesn't know why it is laced with glass . They lace it with glass so that people will think they are trichomes and people will usually pay more if it looks frosted over .

I am a medical cannabis user for PTSD and Fibromyalgia. I vaporize flower for flashbacks and use tinctures for pain. It’s legal, regulated, and I know the potencies of cannabinoids and terpenes. Too much isn’t good for me even.

mental addiction is always worse than the physical addiction. It is the reason why alcoholics cannot start drinking again; the physical addiction is gone at one point, but the mental addiction never goes away. Also for those who may want to try drugs recreationally, there's a couple of things that I at least keep in mind to make sure everything is okay: - Be old enough: the younger you are, the more damaging effects of drugs can be and the more they will inhibit your future life. - Like Xisuma already said, don't use it to escape anything. Drugs is meant recreationally and not as a means to escape reality. - Don't do it if you don't want to or are scared about it. Quite a few drugs enhance your current state of mind, and feeling bad before most likely will only make you feel worse, or go on a bad trip. - I never do drugs alone. I feel like the moment you start doing that, you'll find yourself on a slippery slope to addiction. - The moment you feel like you cannot talk to anyone about your usage, you should seek help and try to stop using. - When taking drugs, always make sure you know what you are doing, what the dosage is etc. A website that can help with that is Jellinek, a non-profit organization sponsored by the Dutch government to make sure that those who do choose to ignore drug laws are at least safe. Just google it and at the top of the page you can change language.

I don't know how much to trust about recreational cannabis use, but I do trust doctors who would recommend this stuff because they'd know which kinds could help with which issue

a drug doesnt have feelings, it doesnt understand your feelings, its just a hardcore chemical substance.. you have to solve your problems alone. (running is an escape drug?)

Medical use is the single thing that calms my chaotic nervous system. Fibromyalgia leaves me in pretty intense pain multiple times a week. But abusing weed is no different than abusing alcohol.

Nothing wrong with a bit of weed, but it's a slippery slope when you start interacting with that kind of crowd. A lot of them use other drugs, and it's easy to try out all sorts of things. My favourite way to enjoy it is in small amounts on my own during the evening time to wind down a bit. Though I also went through a period where I was using it habitually, the same as you, and it wasn't a fun time. Just made me lazy and poor. MDMA is a dangerous drug. Very popular club drug. A 15 year old girl died on a mountain because of it. Too many people don't understand the dangers. You sweat buckets, dehydrate and seize until your brain shuts down. Craziest thing I ever tried was LSD. Did it twice, and I'll probably never do it again. I don't regret it though. Taught me a valuable lesson when it comes to drug use.

X, I agree with everything you said though I’m confused as all the negative aspects of cannabis use are a reason to legalise it rather than keep it illegal. As you said, the lack of regulation is a problem. This can only be solved with legalising it while regulating it like alcohol... or am I missing something?

I think a huge part of the problem is that drugs are considered something "cool", expecially by young and unexperienced people, who are also easier to be influenced by others No one tells you about the "bad" side

Once I considered buying cannabis from a "friend " of mine. I don't want to be associated with him anymore. He is involved with all sorts of crime, guns in Europe. I live in the netherlands btw it is legal for 18+, but I'm 14. I bought some very illegal fireworks from him but it is hard to leave him. He has no friends on school because he moved in last summer so he won't leave me alone.
