What I love about this version is that is makes the music stand out in a completely different way. When I saw him with Six Feet Under coheadlining with Manowar in 1999 . He was dead on . Really resonant low growls and the band was tight . In fairness Barnes wrote some of the most popular songs ( lyrically on the Bleeding ) and at least 50 percent of it before hand . Fisher has written a few and let me tell you . I understand why Alex and Paul are the principle song writers. I don't care for George's tough guy stage persona but it's a persona and it matches the music . So all the power to him . I have to laugh when he talks tough though . He can barely move let alone beat someone up . Ntm I've seen him attempt some bag work . He has no idea how to throw a punch . I was never the greatest boxer (but at least I am one) either but I know he has no skills . Yet once again Fisher is the singer of thee most well known DM band in the world for over 25 years ! +Sara Kane I forget which dvd it is but the band along with Barnes stated that he left because of musical differences involving the vocals. They were fine with how he sounded it was just Barnes's lyrics and vocal patterns that the band didn't like but Barnes did. +Conjulio Those things are actually on the same DVD ("Centuries Of Torment") where Jack gives "jealousy" as one of the reasons for the friction with Chris Barnes. @Typhoon0627 Жыл бұрын
This "demo" sounds quite a bit faster here than the album version. I won't get into the whole Barnes vs Fisher nonsense, but I will say Barnes needed to spend A LOT more time on this song to get his parts/patterns more in time with the song. They are all over the place and don't go with the feel/flow of the riffs. If I was in Cannibal and he presented this to the band I'd be like "well it's a good start, let us know when you're done!". Doesn't take a rocket surgeon to know this would ultimately be the end of Chris especially when you throw in some egos and lil LSD (lead singers disease) where no one in the band is gonna tell me how to write my lyrics/vocal parts. Cannibal significantly upped the their technicality game on this album too and I think it was just out of Chris's scope of writing patterns. The Bleeding is still my favorite record and it has nothing to do with Chris or George, I just dig the riffs... even if the production is total shit on that record too. Morrisound or Muddisound?

Why would you be more of a fan if they released CTK instead of Vile? We have the CtK demo, so we've basically got the best of both worlds- Barnes version and the Corpsegrinder version of these songs. The classic CC albums are all Barnes. Personally CC are my fav band, Although Barnes is my fav vocalist, Corpsegrinder is fuckin awesome also. Think about it from the bands point of view;- they wanted a guy who could growl super fast and do amazing screams, plus the relationship with Barnes had been strained for a while. Although I prefer Barnes version of Devoured by Vermin, some of Barnes lyrics for CtK are a bit lame, I can listen to CtK and appreciate why the band wanted a new singer. Do you own the Centuries of Torment DVD? It's awesome! In the meantime listen to Butchered at Birth in HQ on youtube, it's awesome!

Dangerous2099 Thanks man, we had a bit of this conversation on another thread ! Centuries of Torment was eye opening for me. Thanks, I will check out the HQ Butchered -

Dangerous2099 That would be cool, would like to put that as the album cover on my ITunes for those tracks. We will probably have to disagree on their choice of vocalist, I have had a difficult time getting very into the music since '94. Though I also recognize a Barnes reunion wouldn't sound the same as back then ... it was just a moment in time.
@Dangerous209910 жыл бұрын
Brian Forbes Yea the CtK artwork is pretty cool, looks like some killer who has constructed a pillar of various body parts stuck together. If you listen to the Bloodthirst album, you can hear by that point why Barnes would no longer have fit the music- it was going in a superfast technical direction. What are your fav SFU albums? Mine would be Haunted, Maximum Violence & the new one Unborn, those three are killer. I loved True Carnage at the time as well, I thought that album had a bit of a nu metal vibe about it. SFU can be a bit hit and miss, but when they are good, they're good.

It's funny how poorly this comment has aged considering recent events

Honestly, both versions kick ass! I love the solos, though, but I wish they would of made a studio version of this with Chris.

@empyreon1e Yes, because you are the only one that has not either gotten the album or looked up the lyrics. ;-)

There's nothing to discuss, like PaullyMetalhead said, both Barnes and Fisher are amazing. Barnes excelled when CC got roots, and now Fisher does when CC's getting wings !

Corpse grinder has taken them to a new level but i love barnes vocals. grinder is more technicaly efficient but i feel barnes' vocals are just raw brutality.

Lucky that you saw them with Barnes! But I'm a fan of George as well. I think he is a great vocalist especially when he does those screams.
