I made some chicken stock yesterday and canned it in pint jars, my way of thinking is I can always open a second jar if I need to. I totally agree that homemade is better then store bought and it gives me the satisfaction of knowing that I know exactly what goes into my food.

and use schmaltz to fry your eggs or veggies in a stir fry - I freeze my schmaltz so I can have this treat all year. Super excellent video, fantastic for beginners and a great refresher for the rest of us. The first time I used my all american I did not open it in time, I ended up removing all the safety hooks and prying the lid off, carefully, and then I found out if I had turned the heat back on and let it warm up just a little bit, with the weight off to let steam escape, that the lid will release.

Love Linda's Pantry, so inspiring and informative. I just canned some blackberry jam yesterday, my first time. I felt pretty confident doing it though after watching lots of Linda, oh and it turned out great, tastes much better than store bought and much cheaper, especially since I picked the berries myself. So, thanks Linda, keep up the good work. Please post the recipe for chicken broth.

YAY! Bone broth! I think I said something on FB to you, but thanks to you I FINALLY got up the nerve and canned 4 quarts of beef bone broth in my small AA canner. It wasn't until you that I learned to add a little ACV w/the mother. I drink a cup of bone broth most every day and absolutely love it! I've ordered more bones from the butcher off of our last calf and I'm going all in! I hope to get like, 40+ quarts done this time! Again, just can't thank you enough for inspiring me. Keep up the good work coz your inspiration is key to my pantry's success lol! (HUUGS) and much Aloha to ya! ^ _ ^ p.s. YES to the BBQ Sauce!

Pinto beans for refried beans and baked beans for the hot summer months. Also spaghetti and pizza sauce. I cheat and use two 3lb cans of Hunts tomato sauce. 100% natural and no additives or preservatives. This will make 7quarts for me after adding seasonings, onions, and garlic. I use my tattler lids on jars I know I will be cycling through fast and normal lids on long term.

Hey Linda, what a great hint on the sweet potato! I would think it might give off a sweet taste, glad to know that it won't. I often use yellow onion when I make broth, and leave the peel on. That also I parts a nice golden color to the liquid ( saw this on a Good Eats episode). I would also love it if you did a caning video of your maple BBQ sauce. Would you also consider a canning session on your Jack Daniels BBQ sauce? I know you have a video for making it, but I can't determine some of the ingredient quantity. Thanks s much! You're a huge inspiration!

Just found your channel and I subscribed!! You are fun to can with!! I have a large crockpot of pork bone broth going right now.....I usually freeze my broth but this time of year I find my freezer space at a premium! 😅 So I want to can it.....but I was wondering how pressure canning affects the quality/gelatinous-ness of the broth. I heard high heat can ‘ruin’ the collagen.....do you know any thing about this? Thanks! ~Charlotte

Linda, you mentioned you are looking for another canner. You already have a smaller 4 at and you have an all american 921 so I assume you are looking for something larger. Well, i just did this so i thought i would share it. I started with an all American 921 and now have the need for something larger. You can purchase just the bottom of a 930 and use the same lid of your 921. They are interchangeable. Get the bottom with hardware and it's much cheaper than buying the entire 930. Of course, if you want to can with both at the same time you would have to get the entire 930 with lid. Just a thought!

Hello Linda. I am so inspired by you to start canning myself. When you said you had some back and neck pieces from the chickens you have cooked before I have a question. I had an extra frozen turkey that someone had given me so I thawed and deboned and bottled the meat. Then I took all the bones, the neck, skin and all that and slow cooked for maybe 12 hours or so. Then let it cool. Took the fat off the top. Then bottled the broth. It is SO good but let me tell ya, I don't know that I'll ever debone and skin a turkey ever again. Lol.

So Linda, what is the bone broth supposed to taste like ... rich chicken taste or a more watery, thin taste to add to soups. My expectation is more like Campbell's chicken noodle soup broth without the noodles and meat. Going to make something this weekend that is cooked in my ball electric canner and finished in my all american 921.

Bought a 2nd pressure canner last week, a smaller size as my stove at home is flat top and I don't want to risk breaking the stove top. Followed this video pretty closely after watching it multiple times and now have chicken bone broth simmering since about 2.30pm, heading to bed after watching this video again, at 11.45pm. Planning to let it go tomorrow while I'm at work so I can finish up when I get home in the afternoon. I have to say the house has been smelling like roast chicken and stuffing all evening, it's a freaking amazing smell.

Have you ever used game bones to make a broth? I have several packages of bison soup bones so no meat on them just the marrow. I also have some bison brisket roasts all from my husbands bison he harvested in northern BC (I live on the southern west coast of BC Canada). I've had them in the freezer for a while now so I need to use them up and am thinking to make a broth out of them. I've never made broth before but I assume I would go about it similar to beef?
