I use an older style of pressure cooker that you have to adjust the flow of gas as the pressure cooker gets up to temperature. On my stove I keep on high until it reaches 10 pounds on the dial and then adjust the gas flow between 4-5 on my stove. Everyone has a different stove, so it actually depends on the type of fuel used to cook with, natural gas, propane, etc. Just remember to keep an eye on the pressure gauge and keep it at 10 psi for under 1,000 feet of sea level.
