Jessica, watching you preserve veggies takes me back to when I was a kid. We owned a little 16 acre farm, of which, we grew about 7 acres worth of produce. And I mean anything you can think of, almost. I remember Mom canning all that fresh stuff, especially beans. LOTS of beans. I tell you one thing. We never went hungry, between that, hunting and fishing. Thank you for the memories. I'm now a 60 year old man. 😊❤

I use a lot of assorted dried beans in my cooking to up the fiber and protein of meals. Usually just cooking them in the Instant Pot and then freezing in small bags, but then you have to remember to defrost the day before using, etc. Pressure canning looks so much easier and convenient. Thank you for the many practical and useful videos this month!

Hi Jessica and sweet family! I was raised on pinto beans, cornbread and kraut or potatoes. My favorite was chow chow on my beans. You ate what you raised in the garden and winter was mostly from canned foods. Your beans look beautiful and tasty. Your grandmother was raised during the depression I’m guessing and beans were a staple. Glad Aaron got to come home and you got to spend some time together. Hope everyone has a very blessed night!

Thank you for a detailed method of canning dry beans. I didn't know about canning the pints longer to get, basically, refried beans. Great tip! My mom and grandmother would make cornbread in the cast iron skillet. So good! I am really glad you were able to sit down and have a great meal, and visit with Aaron (and gma & Wyatt, too.). I use my freeze dryer to make refried beans. I cook a big batch of pinto beans and just freeze dry them. So easy to rehydrate, heat and eat!

Hi sweet one! I LOVE pinto beans! I make a pot about every other week! I put in a nice rope of sausage and make a side of rice...YUMMY!! If I want my beans spicy I add green chilis. They are not quite as spicy, but equally delicious! I heard Grandma say she uses ham hocks in her beans...I do too. Tell Aaron hello from me! Big hugs and many blessings!

We do our brown beans pretty much the same, plus add liquid smoke and Worcester sauce while cooking. Serve with cornbread or jalapeno cornbread and fried taters.

So, the USDA recommends cooking the beans for 30 min. before canning which I have done successfully. You are not cooking first. Is the texture of the quarts of beans firm but cooked? your system is easier but I want to make sure the beans are cooked through.

No the beans cook longer then canning tomatoes. I just go with whatever has the highest Time, unless it states it can go for less. Like beans go for 90 and tomatoes can go for way less
