I would try adding the pasta uncooked in the jar prior to the other cooked ingredients, let the noodles cook in the canning process. I made it without the noodles first and will cook them separately but I plan on trying it with the uncooked noodles next.

My success with canning chicken noodle soup has been with adding UNCOOKED pasta to my jars, along with RAW veggies, add shredded cooked chicken and then topping off with the broth. I also use brown rice gluten free spaghetti noodles...so far, it's been a great success! (and thats with pressure canning, so I have high hopes for WB canning!!) hugs!!!!

I just saw another noodle soup video with a PC, she said the secret was small noodles. They can only absorb so much liquid, in theory anyway. So like a vermicelli, broken into 1" pieces, and don't cook it before you can it. I think I'm going to try that :)

Maybe consider trying chicken and dumplings. There’s a lot of dumplings out there but I’m talking about a thin flat dumpling cause it is more noodle like. This dish usually doesn’t have the potatoes and stuff but you could add it. Then adding the dumplings right before your ready to can rather than cooking them through.

If you toast the pasta in oil until it's lightly browned it stabilizes the proteins and they are more resistant to getting waterlogged. I've never canned pasta but I use this method when I know I'm going to be freezing and reheating it in soup. Use a thicker pasta that you can toast evenly, e.g.linguine, elbows, bowtie, penne. Use enough oil to toast evenly and drain if necessary. Add to the jars uncooked but be sure to double up on the broth. They're gonna soak it up.

Canning is an adventure. Trying new ideas using old rules for safety and prevention of spoilage. Add more broth when you open the jar, if needed. Remember that many things change the longer they sit on the self. I made Beanie Weenies last year. They were not so tasty when I opened a jar a week after canning. I opened a can a few weeks ago and they were great. They just needed time for the magic to happen.

I have seen others before fill the jar up to the half way point of their ingredients (chicken, vegetables) and then the remaining with broth. So instead of making it in one pot on the stove first it actually cooks in the jar itself once in the canner... Maybe try that. I think you will get a better soup consistency. I would add the noodles UNCOOKED to the jars also before canning and see what the outcome is.

I use more broth in my soups. I put in about 1/2 to 2/3 cup of raw pasta in each quart jar with the soup solids(chicken, onions, celery, etc.) to equal 1/2 the jar , with the other half being broth. Do not have more than 1/2 of the jar being the solids. You need the broth for the noodles. Precooked noodles will be mushy.

After seeing this video, I felt encouraged to can a batch of chicken soup for quick lunches, as we don't enjoy the bought canned soups. What I did for Chicken Noodle soup was: add 1 cup mixed veggies (carrot, celery, onion) to each quart jar, 1 1/4 cup cooked diced chicken, 1/4 cup raw medium egg noodles, and then fill the jars with homemade seasoned chicken broth. In several quart jars I added 2 Tablespoons of raw rice instead of noodles. Then I pressure canned it for 90 minutes. We like the taste of both soups, and the ratios seem good, but the noodles expanded a lot and did end up mushy. The rice expanded a lot more than I expected, and got soft but it stayed intact. Next time I'll try raw orzo instead of noodles, but I'll make the Chicken Rice soup the same way again. Thank you for making your videos!

I'm canning jars of chicken and noodle soup this weekend. I bought some german noodles that are thin like those in campbells cans. I was planning to add them in dry and water bath for 3 hours and see how they turn out. I had canned jars of spaghetti and my jars were very dense. I had added water when I heated them up. They were like condensed spaghetti soup. LOL The noodles were just like chef boyardi canned soup. But we still loved them. I will be making the spaghetti soup again but not with cooked noodles. This time they will be dry going in the jars. I'll add more spices and add water to make more broth when I go to open and heat. It's total fun. Thank you for sharing!!!!

Maybe the noodles need to be 'half cooked' then finished with cooking IN the waterbath?? Also, maybe need a different kind of flour for the noodles? I don't know just giving some thought crossing my mind that MIGHT help... :) Oh and clearly how much noodle goes into the jar would matter since it is going to absorb some amount of the liquid.

Darling, don’t worry so much about adding enough broth or not…if it isn’t soup, it is a delicious chicken stew. Thank you for your wonderful, “real” experiences!

❤❤my daughter brings me broasted chicken from Costco , after I take the meat off i boil the bones and chicken scraps to make broth. I usually put it in jars in the freezer.. you do a great job explaining the process of canning.❤❤

@@bdg38gunyon2 so you actually fill the jars with the finished soup then place in the deep freezer? Will the jars crack and how long will it stay? I usually use qt. freezer bags.

I was reading one of the comments and they placed the noodles raw before the water bath. I wonder if that would come out better then cooking them with the soup. Just a thought. Love your videos. You are one of the best! Love the way you keep it real! 😀❤🙏

My family did not like the texture of the pasta pressure canned or water bathed. So I started using a different noodle & canning the soup with out the pasta. I know, sort of takes away from the noodle part, but. I just add the to the pasta to the bubbling broth then turn the stove off. The pasta is pretty much al dente & the family is happy.

Mother made her soup very soupy. The she would put the pasta in her jars about quarter way then her soup on top another quarter then add the juice the other half way. The noodles were not as mushy and it was so good in January's cold!

I watch you all the time. I just caught it to day and I love you for it. You said save it for lunch & supper. That is the way we learned it…breakfast, lunch, supper. We may have a Potluck a dinner but not at home…keep up the good job.

I use a noodle called Kluski noodles, they are more dense. I cook them separately in water and then leave them a tiny bit uncooked. Just add noodles to jar sparingly because they will still absorb a little bit of the chicken stock.

I made chicken soup without noodles, then I heat the soup in a crockpot, with extra quart of broth, and add Amish noodles, about 30 minutes before serving. It makes a delicious "chicken and noodle" dinner. The key is to add extra broth!

Can you waterbath rice? I would love to have cooked rice stored, but don’t know if it works or is worth trying.

I would definitely add noodles afterwards. They always take up more sauce. Great recipe!

I know nothing g about canningnjust what Ive seen and learn on your channel, but what about putting the pasta in the soup dry just before putting it in the canner? Because technically would it be like cooking the pasta twice? Once in the soup itself and than again during canning process? That's just my thoughts. Love your channel ❤

Instead of egg noodles, try orzo. The little pastina seeds. Thats what i use. They stand up stronger then the egg noodles. The pastina does swell up in the broth. But maybe if you water-bath that long than could you put the noodles in dry and they will cook in the broth as they are canning.? Just a thought . Maybe try 21/2 quarts of broth instead of 2.

When was the last time you opened a can of soup from the grocery store? Yours looks far better. Most canned noodles are mushy and are only cheap fillet. But im sure you'll master the perfect canned noodle soup. Thanks God bless

I'm new to canning (just this year) and learned just yesterday that when canning soups to put 1/2 a jar of veggies or ingredients and 1/2 jar of broth. I did a load of cabbage soup yesterday and used those measurements - so far so good. I would also wonder if adding the noodles when jar is opened? It sure looks good as it is very cold here in WV today -
