Fun video with the car swap and banter! Luke this trip across the Canning has been very special, Uncle Richard's time with you Luke for telling stories about his life has been a highlight, the NZ boys are hilarious and their sense of humour and cohesiveness has been really great to see! Darunee's calm input has been appreciated for keeping up with what day it is and where you are has let the viewer know how long the trip is really taking and I love seeing the Thai recipe's too, need more of them! Lastly Luke, your daily stories about your life's experiences certainly are a testament to your tenacity and the willingness to "have a go"in life, even though you may not have done anything like it before! It's an important message and should be setting an example to others, for sure! The worst thing that can happen if you try something new and fail is if you give up! The Australian way is to just dust if off and try again! This attitude seems to have died over recent years and there seems to be a lot of younger folks whom have lost the will to have a go, don't know what is needed to change this, maybe some need to do an outback trip to renew their spirit and give them hope. Our youth are also our future as we age, and we need strong decisive folks whom can make decisions instead of being told what to do by others whom do not have their best interests at heart!

Must sound like a broken record, but I’m really enjoying this. You have a great way of sharing your experiences and of coaxing the stories of uncle Richard out of him in his modest and respectful way. Cheers 👍👍

Echo the previous comments on how good this series is. It’s going to be had to beat. Listening to both yourself and Uncle Richard is fantastic. I myself am heading away from SA to Birdsville and across to Rocky and then find my way home on Monday and can only hope we can have can get close to nature and sit around the camp fire and share experiences

Alright..., the Luke & Uncle Richard show. 😁 It's interesting hearing Uncle Richard's life experiences, and your (Luke) travel stories from the US. It's amazing what you can get away with while travelling in the US back then. You're also very trusting with your gear. Extremely lucky that the people you've met along the way where all honest individuals. Great stuff. 👍

You Know,,, every young 4 wheel driver should be conscripted to watch this series and take notes. It has to be about the best video series about, our country, driving in the outback, and how to be a Proper Human Being. Well done Luke and fellow travellers.

I start work at about 5-6 ( I drive a fuel truck Richard) and I know that you two will be sitting around the fire having a chat. 😀😀 I’ll get my fix doing that when we go up around the pilbara for a couple of weeks next month. I like 2 kinds of music …. country and western. 😀😀 5:57

Great advice about the use of UHF radios. Always surprises me that people just don't use them - or maybe don't know how to use them. I'm going to try the ropes on the front of my car for scratch protection. Good idea that I haven't seen before. Great series. Another really interesting chat with Uncle Richard and a reality check for anyone thinking of travelling the CSR.

Droving in Qld Stock Routes. The story was told some twenty years ago of the great droving feat of "Deafy" Coleman (as he was known to his mates) in earlier times. Coleman trailed many a big mob over drought-stricken plains and swollen streams. One of Coleman's biggest feats, and the one that brought him fame, was when he left Clermont (Central Queensland) in 1900 with 5000 ewes. A big drought was at its pinnacle at the time, and Coleman's instructions were to keep the sheep alive. For nearly 10 years he wandered around Southern and Western Queensland, during which period lambing and shearing went on as usual, the old sheep were sold, and the younger ones continue the pilgrimage. The flock then became known as the 'Israelites' - looking for the Promised Land. During the travelling a distance of 5000 miles was traversed, and when the good times came in 1909 the flock, all fats, product of those he started with, were delivered to a meat works buyer. During the long trail almost 19,000 were at one time in Coleman's charge. Of this number, 10,000 were handed over at the final delivery, 1000 were killed for rations, 7000 sold, and the balance 'fell by the way side.' This was Coleman's biggest job, and the story was often told at camp firesides by old hands of Western Queensland. extract - Scone Advocate - Friday December 10th 1948 As a kid on stations we always had mutton in the meat safe and Kelpies around. I do mean always. Since moving off and living independently, unless I am a guest in someone's home and just being polite, I still never eat mutton, chops, or roast lamb. But the Kelpies are still around.

LPs!! had a battery operated record player 67/68 used D size batteries, 2 LPs and that was it but the radio would run forever. Young 15, 16 year olds just sitting around at the local shops listening and chatting till it was time to go home. Ah memorys, nearly as good as Richard and Lukes. Good job guys

Love Richards stories as well as your lifetime experiences no Gov handouts in those days if you needed money it had to be worked for. I see why your business is so successful with all that hard earned knowledge gained. I can see a movie The Drifta coming soon, don;t no what part the Kiwi boys would play maybe Camp Cooks/Cleaners they look pretty good at that. The overall banter has been great.☝ Dave Perth

I've read when camels are the track, instead of them moving to the side when you start following them close from behind, they will instead keep running on the track with many, almost to exhaustion before they will move to the side. Apparently if it's safe, it's best to try and overtake them instead.

I’d like to hear Uncle Richards thoughts on modern technology, not just mobile phone or the internet but also vehicles and modern farming methods etc and how this new technology has changed his people and what he feels his people have lost or gained from it…..?

I drove back home last year and all the Creek beds that we used to swim in when there was water in them are all fenced off now. Annoyed the hell out of me so I just decided to drive on the nearest gate and went down to the riverbed where my mum and dad took us kids

I notice you drive like a bushy. Thumbs don't grip around the wheel so the Landy won't dive off the track again and rip your thumbs off..lol😊. No need to on the cruiser. Not like the Landy boys. I guess that helped a little to getting bogged going down hills
