6 cups of Welch's grape juice, 12 tablespoons pectin, 1 tablespoons butter, bring to a rolling boil, stir in 7 cups sugar, bring back to a rolling boil, stirring while ensuring a smooth solution. Bring back to a rapid boil. Stir continuously for a full minute. Turn off heat, remove pot from heat. Jar with 1/4" head space. Process in a water bath for 5 minutes.

your mat you had was giving my anxiety a heart attack. I was like on no she's going to spill it, this was the most easiest way I have seen to make jelly. especially when everything here in 2020 is crazy, I have started to can, make my own bread, can my butter (yess you read that right, can my butter, there are videos for that) I have decided I am going to make my jelly and store it. Thank you so much for the video!!!!

I did this with white grape and peach, 100% juice. I watched your video several times before I started, measured out all the ingredients, preheated up my jars, lids, canner ( I got my canner lids rings and jars for free) and everything turned out beautifully. This is a good learning video because you show in real time. I also did the math, and compared the cost of a decent jar of jelly, which ended up being $2.99 to $3.99 steadily our stores ( In Calif). I got over 7 half pints.Total cost for the ingredients was only about $7.50 instead of almost $30 for store bought product.

+halfanewfie2 woohoo!!!!! I love that!!!! And I am so glad you liked the video and it helped you. Sometimes I get complaints about my videos being so long, and if you are watching them just to watch they probably are BUT if you are actually watching them to learn how someone else does a process then filming it all is important. I hate when I watch a how to video and half the steps are missing. I don't know how the heck they got from point A to point B! Hahahahaha
@halfanewfie2
@halfanewfie2 8 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why anyone would complain about full instructions. I guess these days some don't have patience, but how can you really learn something if it's not fully laid out? I get the speed videos on Facebook, and then you go back and read the recipe, read the recipe, read the recipe. This is important stuff. I've been widowed for over 6 years, and when my husband died, I didn't even know how to shut the water off. After someone showed me how to do it, and learning about many other things, I run everything on my own. I also see why you're making your videos. It's important, not to mention fun as heck, to be able to function and live well. The key word here is WELL. Not being dependent on take away food, or have to depend on someone else to do it for me is real power and is making a real difference. I still see some of the same folks who make way more than I do still broke, living paycheck to paycheck, no food storage, no provisions, no back up, so what happens if there is an emergency of some kind? Where are the safety cushions? What do you do if your credit cards are already maxed out and you have no emergency fund? I sleep well at night knowing that I am taking good care of myself. I don't have to run to the market every day in order to feed myself, knowing everything is paid up and my pantry and cupboards are stocked when I come home is real peace of mind :)

thanks for the reply. 7 months ago I made my first batch, with 12 tbs of pectin, it got so thick that I had to stir it up before I could get some on the knife. I think I'll stick with 8 tbs it turns out better. now 7 months later I'm making my next batch. Thank you for the inside information, and the butter does work very well. Frank from Oregon

Excellent Idea. I sometimes save my canned peaches. open several cans, mash them up in a pan, or put it through a blender, and add a cup of sugar for each cup of fruit. I don't use pecten, Just boil it a long time. It thickens for me, perfectly. I bet this juice method, you could use apple juice or cranapple or a lot of the juices. I wouldn't do orange, lol.

Good morning! My son and I made your recipe last night and the jelly tastes delicious! We really had a lot of fun making it. We used a 96 oz. bottle of Welch's Grape Juice which produced 18 1/2 pint jars! This is my first time creating anything besides simple syrup and I am very pleased and excited with the results. One thing we learned after the first batch is the rule of Mise en Place is king. You are moving very fast when the ladling process begins. Oh, and who knew hearing a top, "pop," could make you giggle?! Thanks again and have a blessed day!

I LOVE That stuff! I use it on my SS cookware, my sink and even my SS pot of my Instant Pot container! I use it on that because like my cookware it gets like that white etching from I'm guessing the water or certain foods cooked in them! And of course then wash again in hot soapy water to remove that powdery residue! I still have my set of Emeril's SS Cookware I bought at Sam's for $99 about 18 years ago! They still look New-ish to be that old and used pretty much every day! It just hit that I've had them this long!!! OMGOODNESS! LOL! Stay Blessed!

When my younger son was little, he ate nothing but PB&J, with strawberry jam. But I hated all the hf corn syrup in the store jams. The Amish jams were too $$$. So I started to make my own (my mom was a canner when I was little, so I knew the basics). He is almost 18 now and calls store bought jams “poverty jam”. I’ve made a lit of jams since, but never grape. Gonna try this soon. Blessings to you and your family. 🙏🏻💕

I was so excited to make this today. I've been recovering from a broken ankle and surgery, and have been immersing myself in canning videos! I've made strawberry jam in the past, but after watching all these videos, I've learned that there were a few things I wasn't doing correctly. So, thank you so much for the education! An edition I have of the Ball Blue Book guide to preserving has Quick Grape Jelly it...but it's a smaller batch. I followed your measurements, but the process time on theirs was 10 minutes. I'm at a little higher elevation, so I adjusted for that. Even though it jelled up faster than I could jar, they came out great! I have to admit...getting a rhythm down was harder than any of it! I'm looking forward to more fun this summer! Thanks again!!

Hello from rural Oregon!! I started making jam last year, the year before I tried freezer jam..not great, but last year I made two great batches of the real deal fully cooked and water canned handpicked blackberry jam. I ran out, and tried my hand at store bought "fresh".. I found out how to make hard candy, by overcooking the berries sugar and lime juice, until it was thickened, as if set, in the pan! Set hard as a rock lol. Will do it intentionally when I get some silicone molds, lol. Anyhooo.. I asked my grown daughter, abt your age, what kind I could make her, and she mentioned the grape jam/jelly from childhood, Welches of course.. So I found your video, and thoroughly enjoyed the entire thing, and because your tutoring is so clear, I'm confident in my stb pursuit! I normally speed up videos, when extracting instruction, but I cooked my dinner with your accompaniment, and I appreciate the kindness in your approach besides know how. Another thing, I didnt know about the magnet on the long handle, for lids, and loved that!! It makes me happy, learning such things, such as the proper or helpful tools. Great lesson! Thank You!! 🍇

I found a jam and jelly maker on walmart website and made Grape Jelly from bottle juice for the very first time. I'm so stoked, It only took me 10mins to cook the jelly and 10 mins to can. So easy, now I want to make some pepper jelly. Now here's the funny part , I followed the recipe, I put in the pectin , ok now! started the next batch as I'm putting in the pectin I realize I put in the first batch 4 tsp but I was suppose to put in 4 tbs , oh well. lol it was still good . I can use the first batch to make grape meatball appetizers. The first batch gave me 3 pints and the second batch gave me 4 pints and almost a 1/2.
