(Re-posting cause it got deleted by youtube) Caitlyn realizes what she was doing wrong was when they talk to Singed. Caitlyn hates Singed and calls him a "monster" because he created Shimmer and does inhuman experiments. When Singed tells her what he did was for the love of his daughter, Caitlyn realizes that because of her love for her mom, she might be doing something evil as well. That makes her understand that not everything can be justified for love but also that she would still be willing to help people that she loves (Vi) for good. This is exactly the message they were trying to convey through this episode, that there are 2 sides of a coin. Love makes us do both good and bad things. Caitlyn's love for her mother made her do bad things but her love for Vi makes her do good. That is exactly what they were trying to tell us.

Isha's song, the last words the Chinese singer says translates to this: "I'm just fine this way" meaning that she didn't want to die but she accepts it has to be that way. Isha's name also multiple meanings, two of the most important are "Healer & The One Who Protects". That brush moments are intentional; we saw ourselves as a kid in brighter memories. Memories where all was bright, colorful, and joyful. We never wanted to change that, but we did. Also, two symbolism, Isha’s paint color is blue symbolism for Powder as she is catching up to Jinx purple to heal her soul. Also notice how Jinx’s eyes flutter blue at least twice as they are jumping. Now Isha's soul says those last words to Jinx, unheared by death, echoed on us. This show is the epitome of show, don’t tell. So many times, I wish more dialogue was written, or I wrote it my own. But they left it up to the audience to interpret the situation based on their own perceptions. And this truly epitomized by the character of Isha, a character that is mute, doesn’t say a single line of dialogue, which also represents the voices going away in Jinx’s head. People don't realize it yet, but the writers made their point of this act very clear from the beginning. The second we see Maddie with Caitlyn, we feel betrayed and hurt, some even hate Maddie herself. We feel bad for Vi and we feel cheated on as an audience, but time and people move forward, even if it's temporarily or attempt to "fill a hole,” but Maddie also played a secondary role; to help keep Cait's humanity. Warwick and Isha's roles were to heal Jinx, bring back her humanity, heal sisters and a family. And just like the intro of the act, it's the outro, we have it all torn away and are betrayed.

I watched the show on bilibili, Chinese website, they have got instant comments there(comments flying through your screen while the video plays) so when the show ends and lyric goes to the last sentence like I’m just fine this way, all those instant comments are like “ well I’m not fine!”…(audience screaming)

Some Act 2 Call Backs - Jayce, Ekko, and Heim definitely saw some evil twisted world. We are so sad and focused on the "Arcane" (getting vander back, all the happiness) that we didn’t focus on the little sinister details behind the scenes. One Salo isn’t breathing when they are in the hexgate mesh, they also did very quick camera flutter, but they show a very sinister image of non-human existing instead of salo as a human. Also, I don’t think a lot of people noticed, but Vander didn’t just disappear because of Viktor’s death. Good catch on Singed waking up and injected the Serum into Warwick after Caitlyn, Vi, and Jinx walked out, many people didn't catch that since they don't show it directly. Also Season 1 Vi - “Oil and Water” / Season 2 - Caitlyn - “You look like an angry oil slick.” Exact same cup, straw and juice Powder drank. I don't think many people caught, but when Vi is mentioning her plan, she actually talking to Jinx and you know that because the end statement is her saying "You won't like it." referring to that they need to trust Caitlyn, and she ironically didn't tell Caitlyn that Jinx knew about the plan the whole time.

I agree with Carter, I do feel like the season' plot was little rushed in some cases, where while evrything makes totally perfect sense, there is this unsatsifaction with the speed it was portrayed with. The examples that I have are : Vi and Caitlyn's kiss (felt out of place), the de-escalation of Caitlyn anger towards Jinx (to the point they are co-existing next to each other in episode 6 without any comment except that "you"), the interaction between Vi and the "traitor" who sold her out to Silco where she doesn't even acknowledge in any way the fact that he healed miracurously. These are the main things that I currently have in mind. Everything else was perfect, and the ending of Arc 2 made me feel the same way i felt in then end of season 1. It was that good. If season 1 was 10/10, then season 2 would be 9,5/10
@nyla_n123Ай бұрын
Yeah, I agree. I wanted more of Caitlyn’s “villain” arc to make the redemption much more powerful, and to have much more rage when seeing Jinx and Vi together interacting in that greenhouse. I liked the kiss though. I thought they had enough slow burn in the first season
@sayit8ntsoАй бұрын
Carter is a real one for not blindly praising this season like every other content creator. Toxic positivity is a thing I often see in media and it always muddles discourse and critique. S1 is almost a perfect show and the pacing was very good. In s2 things are rushed so much you start to see cracks. Less crisp dialogue, character motivations that change on a dime, overusing music videos as a form of fast paced storytelling, adding more jump cuts in fights instead of the great choreography from s1.. Like really we dont see how Ambessa survived Warwick? And we have yet to see anything as good as Vi vs Sevika. The sad part is that im sure if they had made this story line 3 seasons instead of just 2 then everything probably would have flowed MUCH better. And since they said they wanted to continue the series just with a different setting then why couldn't they devote 1 more season to piltover/zaun? Like whats the rush if the project is going to continue anyway?

I feel ya! I’m getting treated like I’ve betrayed my favorite show for having valid criticisms of its second season. Part 3 can still do wonders so I haven’t fully been disappointed but I’m just not that convinced that it’s as good or better than season 1 like everyone is claiming.

Will there be a third season? I thought this was the final season, and that Arcane ended like that. (I would love for there to be one, but I see a lot of comments talking as if it's not going to happen and some others as if it is) So I'm a bit confused, could you clarify what is known so far about the end of the series. Sorry if there are any mistakes, English is not my first language.
@riesmurphy9198Ай бұрын
This was a really fantastic, nuanced, and observant reaction. Nice job catching the whole "Vander/Warwick goes lava monster because Singed is a POS" thing. A quick note on the discussion about the pacing of Season 2 - what I've sort of reconciled on that front is, no television show is perfect. Where Season 2 is imperfect is, unfortunately, it's pacing. (Interestingly, Season 1 also had some struggles with pacing that grow more apparent on a rewatch ... but in the opposite direction, where it took a little while to really get its hooks in.) Two things can be true at the same time: Season 2 is a masterpiece. Also, Season 2 is flawed. Unlike a lot of folks I'm seeing in the online dialogue, I honestly am not convinced they had enough material for a third season at the caliber they would have wanted. I am, however, entirely convinced they could have (and should have) given us a 12 episode season. Three more episodes distributed wherever made the most sense with the pacing of Season 1 would have made Season 2 absolutely immaculate. The story *is* all there: Caitlin's changing sides makes a lot of sense given the story ... but the fact that we don't get to see any of that subplot (or any of the subplot where Cait and Vi wage chemical warfare on the Zaunites) just screams to me a larger story that was pushed off the table because of budgetary concerns. One of you gentlemen pointed out that really critical story beats were communicated through music videos: I noticed this too. I wondered if they simply ran out of budget or time to animate those subplots and so painted over it as best they could with (admittedly rad) music animations. As much as I love Season 2 (especially Act 2 of Season 2), I can't help but feel like we're seeing a bit of the theatrical release of the Justice League here. I'd love for them to add in some bonus episodes later on down the line that flesh out some of the in-betweeny bits that the season just hops over (Caitlin's reign; strike team in the tunnels; Jayce's adventures in the Arcane). To be totally frank, I'm not entirely convinced they didn't leave those off screen precisely to leave the door open for companion books, one off episodes, other mini-series', etc. Anyway. Long message, but this was a really excellent group reaction. We'll all see whether they can land this plane in the final three episodes!
@dakotabarrett5585Ай бұрын
On the note of pacing, I don't think its the creators' fault for the pacing. They have been given 9 episodes per season, and they have to end it with season 2. So I feel like they shoved everything they could into the episodes they have, but there's only so much they can do.

Episode 5 man.. the way it builds up the development of Jinx and Vi's relationship into the Vander flashback into the family hug, writers cooked.
@miccarl1208Ай бұрын
It's interesting to see people's reactions to Warwick. In-case you didn't know, league players actually never knew who or how Warwick was made, but he had in-game voicelines specifically with Singed, Caitlyn, VI, & Jinx(who were all original characters released back in 2010). Arcane is the introduction to these characters, in a long form media. Mixture for long-time fans of game and general audiences. Players didn't know or even guess Warwick was Vander until 3 years ago when they kept dropping teases about him "Being Hound of the Underground" or "Release the beast inside" along with showing at the end of season 1, a hanging beast which would've been Vanders corpse. I personally played league from season 5 to season 9. Each year is a season, and the game was launched in 2010. They are on season 14 now. So they are using Arcane to solidify some characters' backstories and lore and re-working some characters such as Jayce & Viktor. (You can fact check me but I think League has up to 168-178 champs which is quite a bit) Season 1 included 9 champs which were/are Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn, Ekko, Jayce, Viktor, Singed, Heimdeinger, and we can now confirm Vander is Warwick Season 2 - They made Ambessa a playable champ, and there's a few teases of other champs that I won't reveal until end of the series this upcoming weekend

Cait switching sides makes sense. She was already rethinking ambessa's ideals. Back when maddie was questioning the violence, and then rictus was explicitly called out by cait for trying to cause a riot. Then ambessa tried to recruit singed when cait specifically said he would be locked up, but she did it anyways. She was a lone person, a lone leader, trying to go with the flow, waiting for the right time.

I wanted to see a little more morally grey actions from Cait before she switched. It felt a little rushed to have her join Vi’s side after doing all that with Ambessa and gassing the streets of Zaun. If they were gonna make her better so quickly, we needed more scenes like that one where she questions why peace is the justification for violence. Clear scenes that show her change of thought over the time skip. But this is so great and I’m estatic for Saturday 💙
@clonex23866 күн бұрын
53:40 I disagree with the “random beef” specifically Ambessa kept it a secret that she took Singe and that she wants him to make her a grand army. But Caitlyn being so high ranking and a great detective - of course she’s gonna figure it out and find out. So the whole “Commander.” “General.” Piece is a nod to eachother with the subtext of “oh you find me” and a “what is going on here” type vibe tho Ambessa doesn’t really give af since she’s gonna fight for what she wants

Also, my guess in regards to Victor and Jayce is that is that whatever Arcane voodoo spirits they've come into contact with, they counter each other. Like either one would take over the world but because there's two of them they ensure there's an infinite loop of chaos. The previous mage wars that fluffball was scared of was probably the last "reset" of those two clashing. Now they're in a new cycle.
@maylin827Ай бұрын
Oh I love the repeat video react! So good to see the whole gang on the emotional roller coaster! Just to share some of my thoughts with you guys :) I think love is the central theme that drives everyone’s actions here - both the greatest good and the greatest evil. And parental love is repeatedly highlighted in different characters. The way Vander, Silco, Singed, even Mel’s mom have always carried out actions that they believe would be of best interests for their child. And the way that Jinx describes Isha’s presence as a pair of glasses is very interesting. Jinx has grown to identify with the chaos and ruins she brings. She’s been disturbed by her past and tormented by her loss of identity. In season 1, she had hoped Vi would come to accept her the way Silco does. To see her as perfect the way she is even if she feels broken. Finally, with Isha’s presence, a mute child, for the first time in her life, she’s not hearing voices and tormented by her past. It’s as if Isha’s silence has somehow brought her peace. Jinx likes the person she is when she is with Isha but it’s a foreign feeling to her that’s why she’s uncertain about it because to like the identity of “Jinx” destabilises her previous belief about “Jinx” in that she could only bring chaos and destruction. P.s. I love how you could still see the pain in Carter when Isha dies. Also it was lovely to see Jack and McKay speaking more! Cannon was spot on with guesses though 😅 I also love how even though it’s second watch for Brig, his attention was still very much focused on the screen (usually distracted by snacks lol)
@maylin827Ай бұрын
Also to add, after Singed has tampered with Vander/Warwick, we see him turning into what Mel’s mom has described as strength - tunnels in your eyes, lavas in your veins, shadows in your heart. But at great sacrifice after trading for his humanity 😢

Yeah I feel like I really agree w/ both statements. The season is really good and all of the characters' choices do make sense, but it also felt a little rushed, and we don't feel the payoff as strongly bc of it. Like for Caitlyn, we can understand why she ended up siding with Vi, but after how much the 1st act seemed to be leading up to her dictator arc, the 2nd act having her moral compass seemingly stronger than ever right off the bat makes the lead-up from the 1st act fall a little flat. Like logically, we know it's been a few months, so it makes sense that she's had time to re-align herself and her values, but not being able to see that struggle leaves it feeling like something's lacking.

Caitlyn is in the same position as Jayce in Season 1. She had power thrust upon her shoulders, and someone with much more experience manipulating her decisions. Meanwhile, Vi is the Viktor to her Jayce, where she is from the underground and has the best interests in mind, which reminds Cait that Zaunites are people, too. In the end, her attachment to Vi overpowers her hatred for what people have done to her life. Jayce now mirrors Powder's journey, hearing voices telling him to do unspeakable acts and jinx everyone's hard work in the compound. His calculated control of Hextech in Season 1 is gone, and he now wields it with destructive chaos. Here's to the new us. 🥂
