Canoe trip down the Merri river part 1

Walking my dogs along the Merri River sometimes of an evening It had been playing on my mind to see one day what the Merri River has to offer further upstream. Finally, after some short preparation I managed to hit the waters north of the Merri. I put my canoe in at a little town called Woodford near Warrnambool in Victoria and for my very first canoe trip I headed of downstream to what was one of the most challenging but rewarding river expeditions I have attempted. Please note in my other videos I have been on a Kayak but that was only for fishing and not for an expedition canoe trip. Thanks Peter. It was certainly a challenge at the time. Now that I am home and nice and warm and dry, i can look back and certainly say I am glad I did it. If I can give any advice or if I were to do it again I probably would use my kayak instead of my heavy canoe It would be much easier to carry over all the debris I also would leave it a little later for when the water is flowing a bit better. Gday Steve. Nah! still alive mate. No snake bites or I didn’t get swallowed by god knows what under all that debris 😂. I have been watching your daring river run series. So good to see water in the river again. Last time I was up that way it was bone dry. I will be looking forward to the Menindee lakes video and hopefully you stopped of at Pooncarie as that’s where I lived as a child for a few years. Say hi to kaz and thanks for sticking round. 👍😀
