Canoe Tuna Fishing

Matt Watson's in the tropical paradise of Niue this week, where he's taking part in an outrigger canoe fishing tournament alongside some rather boisterous local fishermen. With the guidance of Niuean canoe fishing expert Ricky, Matt aims to land a mighty yellowfin tuna or wahoo and take out the hotly contested comp, but it seems the locals have other plans!

Fakalofa Lahi Atu brother from Perth WA. I lost a Tuna on Saturday here in Perth while kayak fishing … had only 1.5 hours sleep and after a really good run I started to panic yet had tons of braid still on the reel and in that panic tightened up the drag so much that my knot pulled. I think my knot was poorly made as the knot (clinch knot) is a very strong knot. Sucks to be me haha. We too had lots of stories from our dad (Alofi born) of Niue life and fishing including stories how my dad was a very good fisherman. Cheers bro 😎
