I bought this camera 6 months ago. Its an impressing camera with great colours. Very sturdy and shutter sound is one of the best. Your amera reviews are cool!

I bought a 1Ds2 last month, which is like a new one, and the shutter counts only 17K. The colour and image quality is so great. ❤ It only cost me USD 343.

A thousand years ago i stopped using film and started using a 1Ds Mk2 for all my commercial photography jobs...I loved the full frame images it gave me and over the years I owned 4 of these money making beasts! In the end I swapped to the Nikon D3x due to its far better battery, bigger rear screen, bigger lens choice and slight better low light performance...this was a good choice as I still use that D3x for commercial jobs.
@Mr50mmish3 ай бұрын
Wow that's awesome! 4 of them eh? Yeah I do admit the older battery chemistry really can't stand up against Lithium Ion packs. The D3x is an awesome camera as well.

Hey Mr. 50mm. Viewer from Newfoundland here. Love your videos. I always enjoy looking at images at our favorite city! I am doing the same thing. buying vintage digital and film cameras. Much more organic images and feeling. Can we get a few shots etc of your watch collection in the background? ha ha.
@Mr50mmish3 ай бұрын
Yo! Nice to meet you! Thanks! Yay it's always good to meet another collector. Sure I can probably post some community images up. I will say the watches I use in the background aren't super special haha. There are a lot of watches just out of frame in boxes or a glass case that are much more interesting :)

When buying these used professional cameras they have usually had hard use and have exceeded the number of clicks for shutter life. Websites like KEH do not tell you the number either.
@Mr50mmish4 ай бұрын
That can be the case with well worn ones but it also doesn't mean it's going to die immediately, but true it is a something to take into account. I will say when it comes to pro build shutter counts it tends to be very high or very low, for example I have a Nikon D3s it's now over 500,000 clicks, but I also have a 1dx, I believe it was at 75k, my Kodak DCS 760 I think it's like at 7.9k? My phase one P45 and Aptus 22 are under 35k, And this 1ds Mkii looks like it's been through a great many.
@daveinthewild3 ай бұрын
MPB usually gives the shutter counts. I've picked up a few older pro bodies from there and the pictures on the website are of the actual gear your buying. I still buy lenses and film cameras from KEH.
@johnayres51822 ай бұрын
I suggest that you buy used equipment from KEH. Their rating system is very good. The pricing I get from KEH is on par from buying from eBay, but much more trustworthy. KEH warranties their equipment also. To many negative purchases from eBay.
@Man_Cave2 ай бұрын
@@johnayres5182 The only problem with KEH is that they don't tell you how many clicks are on the shutter. Therefore, the shutter could die on the 190th day and you would be screwed.
@alcedo_kf2 ай бұрын
Also, its worth checking to see how many dead/hot pixels are present on these older pro bodies. I bought a beautiful, used condition 1Ds Mk3 (very low actuations) and the sensor was a mess with such pixels. Swiftly returned.

I’m hunting a 1ds camera but I think I’m going with the 1ds Mark III because of the AF micro adjustment in camera. A few days ago I bought a 5D and it had a backfocusing problem with my 50mm f1.8 stm lens. What a bummer because I can’t adjust it by myself in camera.
@Mr50mmish4 ай бұрын
That's fair the 1Ds iii does have a lot of pretty nice user interface upgrades too along with the micro adjust! Let me know what you think of the 1Ds iii when you get it!

Sigh ... that was my studio camera for about 10 years. It died. Honestly, if the repair folks can get it working, may put it back into the bag. It's a hell of a camera. Yeah ... I paid the full price for the darned thing back in the day. I used the voice annotation a LOT.
@Mr50mmish3 ай бұрын
Wow that's awesome to hear about it from a user who got it new! That sucks it does though, any idea what was wrong with it.that caused it to break?
@selkiemaine3 ай бұрын
@@Mr50mmish I don't know. I put it away working, during a 6 year period I didn't do photography due to eye issues. When I got all that straightened out, I pulled it out of the drawer and got "ERR-00". I suspect it's corrosion, though there are no external signs of it - I did a fair amount of photography on the water. I checked briefly into repairing it - but since I wanted to treat myself and my new post-cataract vision, I bought an EOS-R and an adapter. That was in 2018, and I'm still stunned by the quality of the R and the R7 I added last year. It's sitting on my counter-top and I think I'm about ready to say "what the heck - fix the darned thing". I went back to some of my old art shots and, except for the higher noise, the quality is right there. I will say this - it did oversaturate reds a bit. I baked a little red desaturate into my Adobe Camera Raw when I did product photography with that camera. I took that adjustment out when I moved to the EOS-R.
@Mr50mmish3 ай бұрын
@@selkiemaine ah fair enough, it had a long run! I'm you got the EOS RF system and it's adapter though, the EF glass is still great! Ah yeah the old Canon color science! One day I will consider going back to the Canon RF system, I had the RP and it just never really took my breath away like the 5d2 did.

What is the difference between the Canon 1DDDDx MK2 and the Canon 1DS MK2?
@Mr50mmishАй бұрын
As far as I'm aware (Don't currently own the 1Dx mkII but I do have the Mki) The sensor is much more modern, Dynamic range and high ISO on the 1DX should be pretty comparable to modern sensors today. The AF system on the 1DX mkii should also be notably better, the 1Ds Mk II is so slouch but against the 1Dx series it can show it's age. User interface is also notably different, the 1Dx series does away with the 2 button action system of the older 1D series.
