Hi Kai, for me the EOS 5D-Mk4 is not worth the double price to the EOS 5D-Mk3 for that minor differences. I don't need all that extra features of the EOS 5D-Mk4 by taking pictures in traditional way. And ... which lens is able to serve that 30 MP Sensor ? ... what about diffraction and the loss of sharpness over f/8 you have to pay attention at that high resolution ? I bought a EOS 5D-Mk3 for 600 Euros in perfect condition including the original battery-grip. So that is speaking all about ... I've heard about that the EOS 5D-Mk4 might have a slightly better and faster AF. I've missed that in your review talking about. Soo ... for me as a people and wedding photographer it's a very clear decision ... take the EOS 5D-Mk3 and spend all the saved money into another very interesting L-Lens.

I would go for the 5D mk IV just for the upgraded features, but as a 6D mk II user, I'm happy with that as somewhat of a middle ground. DSLR's are still good, even though the mirrorless revolution is taking over.

yeah, since the release of 5D4 and after thousands of comparisons and reviews 4 years ago nothing changed except the price. Brand new 5D4 is around 2200 EUR now. In my opinion it's not a big difference for what you get.

I had a Mark II and a 6D and I now have a Mark IV. The big thing for me is the wifi which allows me to view the images on my pad while shooting. The Mark III does not have this feature.

I’ve just purchased a MK3 in January 2023 it’s a mint condition 9+ grade with 6000 shutter count , getting back into photography after 10 years, not interested in video, but there’s always Magic Lantern for good raw video.

Absolutely- this was my set up for a couple of years - shooting corporate videos with the 5DmarkIV and Markiii ( Just make sure you use the picture profiles and not Clog on the MarkIV) 👍

I love the old school rugged body design of the 5D series (as was shared with the classic XXD line from the 50D and older) but the benefit of the flip LCD is just too useful. Not so much for photos in my opinion but for video. But I love the feel of this classic build.

I guess it boils down to you get what you pay for. The iv is a far superior camera in all departments and is the one to buy. The differances between them is too huge to ignore, so knowing what you want and why should push you to the iv. I just bought one used for 2300 Cdn. With under 13000 frame count. Steal of a deal in my mind saving 12-1300 over buying new. The same with lenses, shop around and you'll find great deals. I just bought a 24-105 ii for 800$ Cdn. A 2xiii extender for 385$ and a100-400 I for $950. All great deals.

Hi, I managed to get 5D mark iii cheap at the time end of 2020 for mere £500 including battery grip, I have not seen cheaper maybe one or two I might have missed. I do have the 5D mark i and ii. I find 5D mark ii is easy to work with and iii, there is a lot of change that I have to custom to this, in time I will have master that iii and ready to take pictures.

What is the chance 5D Mk.5 will be released? I've given a lot of thought about upgrading my 5D3 to 4, but the question of buying it in 2019 aside, it's not particularly cheap for how old and low spec it is. Unless there's 5D5 I'm making a shift to Sony mirrorless.

I have both cameras and both are very good. They are beautiful work tools compared to the Nikon and Sony cameras. The Canon menu system is really the very best. I do find that the latititude of the 5Dmk4 is far better than the 5D Mk3, including fabulous resolution ..

Yes - I loved the 5D Markiii when I first got it - but have since left it in favour for the MarkIV due to DPAF for video and the resolution - I also have the official C-Log on my Mark IV installed by Canon supplier which makes me want to use it for filming all the time.

Mark III + magic lantern pretty much obliterates the Mark IV in terms of video quality. Too bad the Mark III was released before DPAF started to appear in Canon's DSLRs (70D being the first in 2013). Hybrid AF which appeared on the 650 is prone to banding when performing shadow recovery (and even some modern sensors with this tech still experience this).
