Thank you very much! :) if i remember correctly i used only canon original 18-55 kit lens! Maybe canon 50mm f1,4 on some shots but Mlraw makes the kit lens very useful again :)

Kunle Olawuyi, Thanks! Well its possible but shooting raw with 600d makes wedding shoot hard because you can only shoot 2-3sec clips with resolution good enough. Also the camera gets pretty hot when you shoot raw for a long perioid of time. But of course its possible but tricky :) if you plan to shoot wedding in raw with 600d i would love to see the result! :)

Nice video! I was just wondering, is there a way to make the camera make a sound after it stops recording? I've heard about this 4gb and 30 minute limit, and I was thinking about making long videos, but to know when the camera has stopped recording so I can start to record from where I left. Sorry if this is a stupid question!

Hello! :) That is no silly question. Magic lantern beeps automatically when you record raw and camera stops recording but im not sure if you use original canon firmware. But if you use ML you can use the option to continue recording automatically if it stops. I hope that helps :D

This is a long shot, but I'll give it a try. I have downloaded magic lantern and can shoot RAW on 600d continiouesly, but when I put the SD card into the reader all it shows are unreadable .MLV files. How do I get RAW files so I can finaly use what I shot. I've looked for the ML forum but haven't goten any answers.

marko beguš Hi! .MLV is magic lantern video file that that contains the raw video but you need MlRawViewer to view and export those into -. MOV or DNG sequence you can download the proper player here - - > www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=9560.0

What's just an estimate on how large the video files (taken here) are? And did it present any difficulty in editing because of the larger file size?

Hi! Raw video files were around 180mb for every 3 second clip and when converted with mlraw viewer to .mov file size dropped to around 80mb. Editing of converted mov files in premiere is very fast propably because of the small resolution :)

Oh that's cool. Very good looking footage! Would you think it would be possible to shoot for longer than the ~3sec with a faster memory card? Or is that not what limits it to the short length?

@@JonathanLov, if you drop the resolution you are able to shoot longer than 3 second at a time but the quality drops pretty much. I believe the limitation is the cameras writing speed.. so faster card wont help much.

Hello! I haven't tried 700d but i think it is pretty much the same camera with a few little twists like touchscreen ja maybe just a little bit better low light capabilities. But it totally depends on your budget (both are low budget beginner cameras) and for what type of photography you are aiming :) if you want to use magic lantern and shoot raw videos then i think 600d and 700d works the same and for timelapses you gain no advantage on 700d. I think the main difference is the usability with the touchscreen (witch i have no idea how good or reliable it is) i hope this answers your question :)

I´m very glad to hear that this footage can be an inspiration to you :) Remember if you havent used magic lantern before it can be pretty difficult in the beginning and it can also affect the warranty of the camera so there is risks in that.

can you pick a color correction in magiclanterns program? the only thing i know about ml is that you install it on you sd card... i think... anyway would you mind to pass your cc/color grading settings in ml please?

- FlareArtworks - Hello! Im not sure if the picture styles or any kind of cc affects the RAW video because you are capturing the raw data of the censor. But usually you want to shoot as flat color as possible to get best results in color correcting. I personally used Picture Style: Neutral (3,-3,-2,0) Hope this helps :)

Some really lovely shots! How long was you able to do shoot for in RAW? How fast was the SD card you were using? I have been debating wether to download ML but I'm put off by people saying you can only record in RAW for a couple of seconds using the 600D.

Thank you! :) Thats true that with 600d raw video at maximum resolution of 1728x736 and @ 24fps 600d cannot record more than ~90 frames at once. The card reader is not fast enough to handle the bitrate. I am using old 32gb class10 sd card because i noticed that the newest microSD UHC-3 cannot record any longer RAW Video than any other older card in my 600d. There is anyhow slight improvement in frames to be recorded when you tweak magic lantern settings to warm the memory card up etc... But there is lots of advantages installing magic lantern still. The mlRAW video options is Just a little part of all the goodies magic lantern enables on your camera. I personnally would not shoot without it anymore with 600d. :)

I read somewhere that it could take up to 128gb sdxc but i dont know that as a fact. i personally use old class10 sdhc 32gb card at the moment and i have tested with much newer and faster cards and they dont affect the performance at all because the camera cannot write fast enought to get any better performance. but for raw video shooting i would recommend at least 32gb.

Thank you :). Well there is methods to get so much more from mlraw material but i didnt know how to work with dng sequences in premiere. I did it the simple way and exported the raw material with mlrawviewer -> s-log .Mov and throw the *.mov files in to premiere and scaled them to fit 1920x1080 composition and did a very fast cut and added the audio. There is no color correction in any of those clips. Sometimes the material goes totally green for some reason? As you can see in the couple of clips.. But to get much more from Mlraw material work with dng sequences and check out this link -> www.vision-color.com/visionlog/ :)

I use dngs but this seems to be even better I don't now why but the quality looks awesome! What camera settings did you use? What video settings did you use in the canon menu, 720p or 1080p?

+Olle Olsson i haven't checked the canon menu for a while :D but i think the magic lantern menu overrides the original canon settings when you record raw video. I have set the resolution to 1728x736 in ML settings and frame rate to 24 from canon menu. Also when you have video mode set to raw from ml menu the original canon info on live view shows "RAW" and not the resolution and frame rate.

Ram 911 Hi! With original firmware you can get to 60fps with lower resolutions. With magiclantern fps override i could get almost to 60fps in 1080p. I havent tested fps override with raw video.
