Thanks, Simon. I'm good now for lenses. I still may tune in for the live, depending on what time it is. I always enjoy the banter in the chat room.

I love these livestreams. It's a great way to reach out, see new gear and interact with guests who have different viewpoints. Would you ever want to join the chat?

@OrdinaryFilmmaker You mean like live in the room? First and foremost, I just don't have the expertise, I don't think, to add to the conversation. Have you noticed my avatar? This is my dog, Tyler, who passed in 2018. My Facebook, IG, and X profile photos are also not me. I'm way too shy to be seen. LOL. I'll continue to contribute in the chat room whenever I'm in there. I love talking gear and bird photography. I dabble a bit in night sky as well. Thank you so much for the offer, though.

That's fine. I have all types of guests from travel wildlife photographers to regular folk like you and I. Its the variety that matters. No worries, good to have you in the chat ;)

So, Simon, I've really loved my 50mm 1.2 lens. But I could live with 1.4 if it was significantly smaller and the motor improved AF performance. (The F/1.2 is definitely big and heavy.) Do you have any thoughts/predictions on what it will look like? And where do you figure the price will come in? It seems sort of a shame to pay a difference to get a slightly smaller aperture unless there are some perks. But... the trade-in value of my 1.2 is never going to be higher than right now, before the new lenses are announced. I may make a decision based on your response. No pressure or anything. 😁

Keep watching. I answered pricing in the video. But why not stick with the 50 f1.2? It's going to be better, though the VCM lenses are quiet.

Your graphics along the left show a 35mm 1.4 coming. But i think it's actually the 50mm

Yes, the 35mm was released already, the 50 is coming.

I know. I was getting ready to rerelease the video, but the video is doing really well...

I would guess the 70-200 Z lens is a significant upgrade from its original. I think it’s worth getting since I don’t have such a lens at the moment.

F2.8 and power zoom means the price won't be much lower than $2999, but for video shooters, that is a lot cheaper than what cinema lease normally cost. I have yet to get one.
@scotthime692852 минут бұрын
For what it's worth, I find a LOT of excuses to keep my 70-200 hooked up. If the new one is an improvement (internal zoom alone is sort of a big deal), I don't think you could be disappointed with the investment. I'm pretty heavily a stills photographer, if that makes a difference. I'm in sort of a mood today to point out that this channel is a good source. No predictions are perfect, but I get a lot of good info here. If you do pull the trigger, there's really no good reason not to use the links here. I'm just a guy... no ties to anybody. I comment to try and help fellow photographers.

Honestly, do you think that Canon has what it takes to overshadow Nikon possibly Sony?

I never buy based on who has the best. I buy based on who delivers the capabilities I need the most. There will always be a degree of leapfrogging, and each company will have its pros and cons, but I am not investing in stock, but gear so different evaluation criteria.

If they cant address the crazy vignetting and distortion like the new 35mm have, then its a pass from me.

@@dentonator96 he politely asks to use his affiliation links. You don’t have to if you don’t want to. You didn’t have to be rude towards someone who simply enjoys sharing honest camera news towards the public.

Yes you can. But using his links helps this channel. I come here to get info and thoughts. It's not that hard to figure out that supporting the channel is worthwhile.
@cathco941 минут бұрын
@dentonator96 Do you even realize how many camera/gear channels have affiliate links? Seriously? I don't even recall any of them mentioning that they get paid a commission from the links. I'll pay better attention to that next time. Also, what do you think it is when a content creator says, "This video is sponsored by Square Space?" It's a commercial and they're getting PAID. No different than an affiliate link. Well, in Simon's case it is different because he doesn't do sponsors. If you choose not to use an affiliate link, he gets nothing. Of course, you always have the option not to use an affiliate link or to even leave a channel if it bothers you this much. The choice is yours. Peace!
