why cant i see through the viewfinder? i have the canovision e60, all i can see through the viewfinder is white

Huh, ok, try connecting the camera to a tv, see if it shows up fine

The capacitors have often failed in the intervening decades, causing this issue. They can be fixed, but it can potentially be dangerous as CRT TVs(which this typically use a very small version of) generate high voltages. It can also be difficult to diagnose for those without electronics experience.

Yea, it should be, there a rca jack on the camera, and you should be able to connect the camera to the tv with composite connections

Yes, all camcorders of this era had this feature as it would be basically useless without it, as any other devices to play 8mm tapes were rare. Typically people would also copy their camera recordings to a VHS tape in a VCR. Quite often they had unusual connectors though, albeit they're usually not hard to make if the original cable is missing.

I cant turn it on, i found some tapes and i wanted to see them, so i asked my brother in law if he had something that could play those 8mm tapes... he found this camera, but when i plug in the battery, or the power, it just doesnt turn it on... i tried to press every little button it has and for a moment, it was working... maybe i pressed something wrong, any clue or advise?

The battery could be dead, but I don't know why the power cord wouldn't work, is it the original power cord?

Just got it from a thrift store and cannot wait to be able to use it if I can, do I need to have a casette tape in there to see through the view finder ?

@@alexismussche4229 No, it should always display video. Try plugging it into a tv, it should always feed the signal out, no matter which mode the camera is in.
