I've been using this meike filter adapter for the last 2 months with my Canon R8, about 10 full on photoshoots about 200 or more photos per shoot. I've been using the clear filter as they were so model shoots. I finally went back to the Canon adapter. Everything worked fine but it did change the quality of the photos. It changed it enough to where I'm only going to use it if I'm going to use the nd filter. I can see people thinking it doesn't change the quality depending on what you are shooting. But for what i was shooting it did do something odd with lighting where there was some kind of weird glare texture on all the models skin. Went back to the cabin adapter and the problem went away. I think the difference is the clear filter on meike has an actual filter where as the Canon adapter (the regular adapter) has no extra glass inside

Thank you so much for this info.

I think kolari makes a cover for Canon or Mieke adapter that does not add a UV filter, It just keep dust from coming in.. It has no glass at all. I would if that would make the glare texture go away.

Josh Sattin did a scope test using video footage with Canon, Meike, and Breakthrough. Canon had no color shift until you reach that point where it destroys the footage. Meike had a tiny bit of color shift. Breakthrough had a tad more shift than Meike but not by much. Overall Meike provides the best quality and it’s the least expensive.

I got mine yesterday. $129 ebay because of a shipping snaphoo I got a discount on top of the price AND it came with snap together filter cases. I have not tested it yet.

Will the Meike filter fit the canon adaptor?broke the canon one :( Thanks in advance!!

I am thinking of buying the Mieke. I have not seen any real negative reviews. I do think that comparing the Meike with Canon non slide in adapter is not a true test. Because the Meike has a piece of glass (UV filter) between the lens and the sensor which can effect IQ. The price has come down to 129 dollars right now so that is a good thing.

gives canon the win for color accuracy... but just destroys color at max and slightly lower lol its even a few stops earlier then max. Next time test it with auto ISO and change the ND, you will see it better then just turning it to black.

I really wish Meike would get around to making an EF-L version of this.

The Meike has a weather seal where it mates to the camera body, does the Canon adapter have one?
@VideoGizmology6 ай бұрын
Yes, the Canon adapter has a small black weather seal. All the Canon EF-RF adapters have the same design.

I have always had trouble with variable ND, lighter patches form as you rotate. I thought the K&F at £60+ shoud be good. NO.

I saw some bad reviews on the K&F, so I didn't get it. I have trouble with variNDs as well, but sometimes speed and convenience is more valuable.

Thanks for the video. I think the Meike goes geenish. how is the AF ? as good as on Canon?

For video, I have not noticed any difference with autofocus between the two adapters. I haven't tried the Meike with still photography yet, though.

The blue cast on the Canon version at max is terrible. I went for the Meike due to this. Just that shipping is slow
