Canon EOS M10 Review + Video Test + Photo Test

I actually preferred this M10 over the Sony a5000 and 5100 simply because of the interface. The touch screen helps a lot while the Sony pair was a bit clunky when changing settings on the fly same aperture or shutter speed. Not to mention since this is a mirrorless camera screen resolution of the M10 beats the a5000 and a5100 very useful in judging how your photos fared.

Great Review. I picked this up cheap in the UK and I must admit its brilliant. The focus issue isn't to bad but heavily dependent on what your shooting. Moving objects... forget about it. But for everything is its good. The touch screen menu is excellent. All in all paired with the f2 22mm lens this is great fun for your average consumer looking to step up from a basic compact or phone or a pro looking to just carry something smaller for a bit of fun. Plus its cheap...

+wanderer1125 Yes, that's correct. The EOS M10 takes better pictures but the autofocus is a serious issue. I still recommend the A5000. It's more about milliseconds than seconds. But in photography and video that's what makes a huge difference. If you can't focus quick enough, you've lost the shot.

wanderer1125 autofocus isn't a problem for me becuase it's a hybrid camera, and it has a lot of options to choose a specific thing. Like if you want to focus on near and small objects, the focus gaming is really great!

I see, maybe you really won't notice the difference under normal use. Been reading about those 2 cams and found out that this eos m10 has hybrid AF which is supposed to be faster than a5000's contrast AF, has more focus points, better screen with touch and it's slightly cheaper in my country. However, most reviews will say that a5000 has better noise control in high ISO than m10. The a5000 has timelapse and panorama which isn't available in the m10 plus the battery life is way more lasting than the m10 so I'm most likely buying the sony a5000.

I don't know about you i have this camera, it's jsut great! I don't have problems with autofocusing because I use manual focusing most of the time for my macro picture, but when I want to take a photo of a scenery the autofocus is so good, it focus pretty much instant, reliably and saves me time when I have to focus with the focus ring. Also it takes great pictures like really good ones, the white balance is so accurate, the image stabilisation is doing a good job too, and last but not least, the touch screen saves me time when it comes to pick the right ISO or the right shutter speed for example even if the ring on the buttom still does a good job. I can't say bad words for this camera, it's just a good little peice of art!
