Agreed that the current specs aren't enough to get me to upgrade my R5.... I think. If they have conquered the overheating issues, it could be worth it, but if feels like I'm paying to get the camera I should have gotten the with the R5 so it's a hit to my brand loyalty. I'm primarily a stills shooter, and hunger for more resolution, so sorry to see that Canon isn't going to try to beat or at least match the competition. But maybe there's the promise of the long rumored high megapix cam coming....

Overheating on the R5 doesn't happen after firmware 1.6. I filmed the whole video on a warm day in 8K with no overheating. Have you tried it?

I'm on 1.8.1 firmware, and at 8K ALL-I in a 65 degree room on a tripod, I get 29mins before it autostops w overheat message, and I get much less after waiting 20 mins to cool. @@magnus547
