I've had this camera for several years, Becky. I purchased it during the pandemic for video work for my setting, and got quite comfortable with that aspect of the camera. However, I had not used the time lapse! I'll have to give that a try! Thanks for your walkthrough. It reminded me of some features, and helped me to think about how I use the camera for stills.

Nice video....... But when ever I use "RAW" on transferring photos from camera to laptop, when viewing.... there is a dark ring aound the edge. where as in JPEG its all clear.

Thank you! 😊I am not familiar with this unfortunately, did you shoot the images at the widest aperture or the widest focal length? It sounds like you mean vignetting, but I have not had any experience with this with the canon G7X mark ii

Been shopping for a camera like this for a couple weeks and just pulled the trigger on the G7X ii. Seems crazy that i decided on a 7 year old design, but i guess the newer cameras are more geared towards video for all the content creators out there.

Agreed, 7 years old but still a great camera ! :)

Hi! I have finally ordered mine after going through a month long of research (wanted apsc real bad but they are soo expensive, wanted a sony but canon just feels right for a camera, not wanting to pay a hefty price tag, etc) and i’m so happy that you did such an informative video on the button features and how to navigate with it. I haven’t seen anyone explain what the buttons do so in depth and clearly, and even pausing the video while you explain so we could see the button, so this was really really helpful! How are you loving this camera so far? Any drawbacks? What manual settings do you recommend if i’m not planning to edit them afterwards? Love your accent too btw! Makes it very easy to listen through the video while learning:)

Thank you for your lovely comment :) I am glad you found the video helpful! It really is a great camera, and I agree that canon is the way to go! I really love the camera and have had it since 2019 I think. For the price and the size there aren’t any notable drawbacks for me other than a lack of 4K video. As for settings, I usually shoot in Manual mode or the hybrid auto, and JPEG if I didn’t want to edit them afterwards :) you could also look at the picture profiles such as vivid… which would increase the colours etc in your images as you take the photos so you wouldn’t have to edit them :)

@@beckybokeh thank you for replying! How would you suggest to tweak my manual settings so i achieve a film type of look for my pictures?
