The Valaam Monastery is doing a subtle but amazing thing by keeping the close bonds between the Greeks and the Slavic people through these chants. Schismatic talk will not prevail against the Apostolic Church!

My Brother. May God give your Mother healing and health to carry the burden of her cross that God has given her. God does not punish but sends afflictions for the soul to be purified more and made more golden for the entry into paradise. In the lives of Saints it always the good and charitable christians suffering. God is Just and merciful. Just trust in God and her patience will be rewarded with a heavenly paradise with God!

This sounds Slavic to me. I hear them chant Xristos Vaskres, and answers Vaistinu Vaskres. Meaning Christ has risen, He has truly rissen!

I got off their Pascha CD. They don't chant the entire canon in Greek only Slavonic. The only Greek is the beginning of each Heirmos and that is it. I edited out the slavonic and put up only the Greek because the Slavonic is chanted completely different in terms of Melody.

@vagos2006 thanks for the answer brother! But I suppose they are Slavics as they have a heavy accent when they pronounce Greek words. Are my suspicions correct?

P)lease make a special healing chant for those cursed with the evil illness, (Parkinsons disease). This illness takes the minds of once sentiant humans loyal to holy god, and,....my mothers mind falls apart bit by bit. Why this torture for a saintly mother who gave her life to humanity? She helped the wounded of war, she vollunteerd for the homeless and those in hospitals. Why must she be punished by god as Jobe was?? GRR!!
Please !! Please !! can you give me the text of this Chant?

The rate at which each of these images appear, one after another, is far far far too fast. The nature of the chanting and the images themselves is essentially meditative. Quickly flashing images, no matter how perfect, contradict the meditative path to God.
@acerb456614 жыл бұрын
the Byzantine eastern section(east of Danube), is a big blind spot for me. i know the larger picture, but not the other stuff. all i know is a god named Perun was popular in the region among Slavs. i want details on the initial religious clashes among Orthodox and Pagans in the region(excluding the northern Viking raiders). i will uncover even the smallest event of signifigance! :)

It's a "Simon and Garfunkel" version of psaltiki.... every now and then, someone comes up with something new, because the "old" methods are, apparently, "boring". Anyhow, I'd rather listen to this "new age" style than to Karas et al imaginary "Hagio Sophian" renderings full of FALTSOs. Well.... keep up the "good" work...
@evangelosnikitopoulos4 жыл бұрын
It's Znamenny chant so the harmonies are not the same as Greek or Arabic chant.
