In this age of 4k everything, well captured HD stills stands up beautifully. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks man 😊🤙 Interesting imagery is nice to look at regardless of the resolution. It could be pixel art or a much less detailed painting and it may still be interesting imagery. As we both know, resolution doesn't dictate if an image looks nice. But it can be a useful tool 😅

@@jamesandcamera would one of these, or similar, be a good match for my c70, as a cheaper alternative to the cn10?
@jamesandcamera2 ай бұрын
@@warrensmith3471 It would be a significantly cheaper option by a massive margin , it does have far lower IQ compared to a CN10x25. So if you can live with much lower image quality its a good option when optically corrected. A C70 pairs well with corrected B4 lenses as it has a S16 scan mode as well as its S35 open gate.

Beautiful glass. nice, looks like they are quite good in low light too.
@jamesandcamera2 ай бұрын
It is very nice glass to use 😊👌 It's okay in low light approx. T2.8 wide open. It's just the FS7 that struggles a bit in low light with a bit of a noisy image in darker scenes 🌃

Nice looking test footage there. I missed out on one of these on ebay a while back. I ended up getting an older J9x5.2 instead. I only use it on an old SD camera though for internet videos, so the difference would probably not be that big in my case. Yours does seem to have a much fancier servo mechanism though.

Ah nice, the J9x5.2 is not bad at all. Not quite as wide angle, but still great image quality for an old lens. I used one for a while at an SD news room back in the day. Did the job really well 😊👌 Yeah this one having DD in the model code has a "Digital Drive" servo. It has a few extra features compared to a video class or broadcast class servo grip. How have you found the J9x5.2 to use?
@stevecoatesdotnet2 ай бұрын
@@jamesandcamera So far the J9x5.2 has been very good. It did a nice job of filming my town's recent riots; the wide angle was handy when I was getting shoved around and the 9x zoom was just enough to get close enough to the action without having too many bricks thrown at me! I'm hoping to do a demonstration video of it soon, but I want to get out and shoot some more scenery with it. I did end up paying a bit too much for the J9, but that was somewhat made up for by the fact that I also got a J15x8 for peanuts. Haven't really used the latter properly yet, but they give much much better picture quality than my circa 1980s Fujinon.

How does it perform in super35/4k with the doubler in?
@jamesandcamera2 ай бұрын
In S35 using the doubler for extra sensor coverage it performs 90% the same image quality in good light, you end up with approx T5.6 when the lens is wide open after the doubler and optical adapter image expansion losses. Which is great for well lit situations, but no good for night time.

Hi James, thanks for all the great videos about these lenses. I am using mine on a m43 camera. People say that on a m43 sensor the focal length is effectively doubled. Is this true? It is my understanding that the m43 sensors are larger than b4 sensors, so this doesn't make sense to me as nothing is being cropped.
@jamesandcamera2 ай бұрын
Hi Aidan, glad you enjoyed the video. You will have to look into "Full Frame Equivalent Focal Length" to answer your questions 😉 I know how to answer it, but you are a bit far off what it actually means to teach you the concept and calculations in a YT reply 😅 Suffice to say if you want to calculate the approx full frame equivalent focal length of a B4 lens, it is approx 3.7x the listed focal length. So a J11x4.5 (4.5mm - 49.5mm) is approx a 17mm - 187mm FF equivalent field of veiw Hope that helps in the short term, but definitely something you need to learn more on from credible sources 😊🤙
