Canon PowerShot SX530 HS - Wireless Connection with a Windows® Computer

Thank you, Canon! I just bought this camera from someone who didn't need it, anymore. There was no instruction manual to tell me how to do a wireless transfer. A quick trip to KZbin and . . . problem solved!

This is a great feature, and it's easy to use as well. For some reason my computer stopped reading my SD card, so I didn't know how to get my photos on my PC to edit, but this worked perfectly.

You may want to try popping your memory card into another device to see if that device can read it. If the problem is isolated to your own computer, then you might want to have your computer's card reader cleaned or checked out by a professional. Otherwise, if the problem occurs with every device that you pop your card into, then there might be something wrong with the card and that could eventually become a problem for your camera. If that's the case, make sure to get your images safely saved onto your computer then do a low-level format on the card from within the camera's menu. A low-level format will rebuild the memory card's file system from scratch and that should take care of any errors that might be lurking on there. The alternative would be to replace the card. @@CanonUSASupport Thanks for the suggestion, I actually did try putting the SD card in 2 different computers and neither of them were able to read it. I figured that it was a problem with the computers since my camera has no issue of viewing the photos and taking more to this SD card. I think I'll back up the contents of the SD card using this Wi-Fi feature, and get myself a new one just to be sure it doesn't stop working randomly and I lose all my images.

Hi! When your PowerShot SX530 HS is powered on and it detects a connection with your computer, it will automatically get ready to transfer your photos and videos to the computer. Since you're expected to control the transfer via your computer, the camera's LCD screen will go blank. If you've installed the Canon Camera Window software that came with your camera, it should automatically launch. You can download the latest version of the entire software suite for the PowerShot SX530 HS at canon.us/74qr We should also point out that the PowerShot SX530 HS is not designed to be used as a webcam. Good instructions but wifi is a terrible way to connect. It takes several tries to even find the PC that is on the network. I select my set up PC on the camera then it sits for 10 minutes "searching" and usually says "can't find device" or "connection failed". This is really pretty worthless if you have to try to connect several times and spend 15 minutes doing it.

If you would rather use a USB cable to connect your PowerShot SX530 HS to your computer, make sure you've got the camera's software installed on your computer, turn your camera on in playback mode, and then connect the cable to both devices. Your camera and your computer should begin communicating with each other immediately. It's quite easy! Make sure you're using a data-capable USB cable and you should be good to go. Hope this helps!

Hi! If you're referring to the boxes shown at 5:40 and 5:45, these boxes are part of the AutoPlay function on your Windows computer. When you connect a new device for the first time, your computer will show these options so that it will know what action to take or which app to launch upon connection. You can also choose whether that action becomes the default. If a default action was chosen at an earlier time, even if it was unintentional, you can change what happens by checking the AutoPlay settings on your computer and changing the action to be taken when your camera gets connected. Canon Camera Window also allows you to choose the destination folder for your incoming images. If you want to use a destination other than the default "Pictures" folder, click the settings icon to view your options. This is the button at the upper right with a gear on it. Hello: The PowerShot SX530 HS sends a video signal out of the AV OUT/DIGITAL port on the camera. Third party companies will make components to take this signal and live stream it to KZbin or other platforms. You would need some type of encoder device that will take the feed from your camera and encode the data to a streamable format.
