Thanks Keith, that was another useful and informative video. The 'challenges' of installing print drivers and the particularly the "AirPrint" step is particularly relevant to me as my Pro-2600 arrives on Monday and want to make sure I don't get that set-up wrong. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and experience in a relevant and practical way.

Thank you. This has been very helpful. My MacBook Pro is running 15.x. I ran into this problem over the last few weeks with my 1100. I ended up using my Mac Mini running MacOs 14.7 as a print server. Now I can finally print directly from my MacBook with 15.1 and the new Canon drivers.

Thank you Keith for this video! I had my Pro-1000 in Air print and wonder, why I had not that much possibilitys in the driver configuration as on the windows machine of my wife. No possibilities to put my am1x profiles into printer and driver (which gives good results on windows), no separation possibilities for cleaning and so on. Now it's all there on my mac too!

Hello and tanks for the video Keith! Are the results the same if you manage the ICC Profiles directly on Affinity photo before printing ?
@KeithCooper2 ай бұрын
yes - affinity still uses the same driver. It still fails if you install AirPrint by mistake...

New Subscriber here! Thanks Keith for your informative content. I learned the hard way that its probably best to wait a few months after Apple releases a major OS update so they can work out all the kinks.

Glad it's of interest. Yes - my general policy is not to update 'work' machines until I absolutely need to. I still have 10.15 running on a perfectly good Mac Pro ;-) Oh, that and avoiding Mac systems ending in .0 I do now have 15.1 running on two new Macs for testing and some work...

Thanks, this was helpful. Over the last few days I have updated to Sequoia and tried to get my printing set up on a Pro-300. Very, very puzzling, and I can only get to the controls I want using PPL, which is fine. But you are right, between Canon and Apple, this is kind of a mess.

Thank you for the video Keith. My preferred printing workflow is to use photoshop- automate-CPPL, this worked perfect until the recent photoshop update when it disappeared from the list, I’ve tried using the plugin install, but still no luck, not sure if it’s an Adobe issue or Canon🤷♂️

I'd always blame adobe first for such things breaking ;-)

Hi Keith - I had an issue when updating to Sequoia - Canon Pro 1000 wouldn't connect to the LAN, I deleted the printer from MOs and eventually got the printer to connect and I could print using Photoshop - however PPL wouldnt recognise the LAN and Canon Support told me to use USB - which worked. Then out of the blue after trying several times I reloaded the driver and PPL and PPL suddenly recognised the LAN. What was most annoying is Canon support telling me to use USB, which is OK but I find that prints spool a lot quicker using the LAN.

Hi Keith, I know you dont like recomending printers as it depends on the needs etc but what would you do in the following; I have a Canon pro 1000 that is quite a few years old now and I am getting black marks on the rear like the rollers are disintegrating. A year or so ago I purchased the Epson 900 as I occasonaly need to print longer than A2 but I have the issue of the roll paper being marked due to the poor design of the roll adapter. I dont print a lot of roll paper, hence why the marks appear as it sits there for a long time. I am now having trouble with the paper feeder where the leading edge is getting jammed for a bit before the feeder pushes the papoer through harder and the paper has a crease from being jammed. I had been considering getting the Canon pro 1100 and have been watching all your videos but I am now wondering whether I just stick with the pro 1000 and replace it with another pro 1000. The prices havent dropped much yet in Australia and it is only $100 or so cheaper than the new 1100. The one price difference I have noted is that the 1100 ink is more expensive by about $10-$15 per cartridge. I run a small hobby business where I restore old photos and print them again and I do like the quality from the Epson 900 and Canon Pro 1000 but tend to think the pro 1000 is a bit more hard wearing and slighly better. Im not sure whether to replace the 1000 with the same or upgrade to the 1100. If you were faced with this decision, which way would you go? Thanks
@KeithCooper2 ай бұрын
At the moment, I'd be minded to replace the 1000 with another one... Also, the 900 roll adapter issue is why I'd never suggest leaving paper in it when not in use

This is partly why I always show the Canon/Epson print software in many examples. It's essentially the same on both platforms.
@sebastianreiprich37472 ай бұрын
In the past I also ran into issues with inaccurate colors on my prints after macOS updates (not just the big major releases but also the smaller jumps from x.1 to x.2). The images looked pretty yellow, as if the printer (a Pro 300) did not use the magenta or red inks at all. So the first thing I tried was to simply download and install the latest driver from Canon. But that did not help. I had to make sure to completely delete the old driver first and to be extra save also reset the printing system. Then I restarted the system and installed the most recent driver. This fixed it. This happend a few times to me. So I developed a habit of doing this after every somewhat bigger OS update.
@KeithCooper2 ай бұрын
I've not had to go as far as a reset, but that's partly why I've kept my main Mac Pro running 10.15 for several years - I skipped a lot of printer hassles through that ;-) Rock solid still, but of course, Canon botched support of older systems with the 1100... :-( Having a new MBP and Mac Studio means I've had to face this issue with several printers. All working for the moment - I just have to get past my minor dislike of Apple trying to make my Mac look more like a phone...

You should not have to be a software engineer to get this to run. If it gets too complicated, it really takes the fun out of printing, especially if you are not printing daily. I'm certain Canon is not the only guilty party with this problem. Canon and Apple need to write software that is easy to use and not lead to frustration and wasted prints. (End of rant).
@KeithCooper2 ай бұрын
yes - too much complexity in some areas. I'd be out of a job if were too easy though... ;-)
